I played for 50 years, umpired for about 20 of those years, and was a scorer. throughout that time as well. Subsequently I can assure you with complete conviction; do not take any notice notice of "#6 Hit Wicket and Accidental Out". He has it all wrong; Hit wicket is when a batsmen hits his own wicket (and a bail falls) when facing the bowler; it is usually with the bat or foot, but can also be if his helmet/hat falls and dislodges a bail. As for "Accidental Out" there is no such thing as accidental out in cricket; where he has got that from I have no idea. I contacted him about the error but he has not responded at all. Part of what he says seems to be that one batsman can accidentally run out the other batsmen; a batsman can only be run out by a member of the fielding team! You will hear batsmen say they were run out by their batting partner but what they mean is the partner made an error that led to him or her being run out by the fielding team. Incidentally batsmen can no longer be dismissed "Handling the Ball" because it has been removed from the Laws of Cricket (not rules). It does not mean you can handle the ball now; if you do, you will be given out as "Obstructing the Field"

I should have added that 'handled the ball' was integrated into 'obstructing the field' in October 2017. The last person in international cricket to be given out for it was another England captain Michael Vaughan against India in Bangalore in 2001.
A test match (the 5 day version) is just what it says on the box... it's a test of skill, tactics and endurance. Do not make the mistake of comparing this to Baseball. Aside from using a bat and ball and you can get someone out by catching the ball there are almost zero similarities. For example, in Baseball you replace the ball all the time, in some cases after one or two pitches. In cricket the ball you start with is the ball you use for the whole innings (or in test matches, with no over limitation, for 80 overs)... the only exception is if the ball becomes too wrecked and out of shape to use. Then and only then will it be replaced but not with a new ball, it will be replaced with a ball of similar usage and wear. The wear on the ball and indeed on the pitch (the area between the wickets) is a major part of the game with an older ball and a worn pitch having significantly different properties from a new ball and a fresh pitch. Also Cricket is played in the full circle 360 degree arc, unlike baseball that is played in a 90 degree arc, hence there are no foul zones in Cricket. A baseball and a cricket ball are of similar size but the cricket ball is heavier and harder. The cricket ball only has one seam running around the centre of the ball and sits proud of the surface (at least initially until impacts on the pitch and bat flatten it out) and if the bowler hits the batter with the ball then tough luck, no free run or whatever and aiming at the batsman is a legimate tactic for the fast bowlers. There are many more nuances and strategies in Cricket that would take hours to note but if you continue to learn about the game then you won't be disappointed.

Out of the 15 Americans I saw review the movie not 1 of them only watched it once, they all ended up watching it twice or 3 times. If you hit the ball and it hits the opposite wicket, you can get your partner out - but only if: a. your partner is out of his crease (ie. coming for a run) and b. a fielder (the bowler, usually, in this circumstance) touches it on the way past. And it's not recorded as hit wicket, it's recorded as a run out, the same as any other run out. To be out "hit wicket" is when you knock the bails off the wicket your defending as part of either playing a shot or setting off for a run but only ever from the strikers end.
Test match cricket is not the "oldest form of cricket". Test cricket is internationals against other countries; obviously cricket did not start out as a game you played against another country; no sport starts out that way.

It's getting noticeably longer at international level; a lot of the early 'urgency' as devised in England around 2003 has been left by the wayside.
