Little tip some taught me for loading queens into the cage, hold the queen gently and slide the tube of the cage in-between thumb and finger, queen will move into the cage freely
I thanks you for knowledge and for your spend time for every beekeeping.I am in Michigan I got a question:I got two Nucleus and I want to unit for winter i wish to save Quinn my i unit using Quinn membrane? Thank you and good luck
Oh my gosh! Thank u for this video! Literally have to combine 2 hives this week. Although, I’ve done my reading up, and watched videos, it’s still nerve-racking, being my first time to do it. I appreciate you & Sheri for all the work y’all do and the knowledge you consistently share us❣
Hey David hoping you are well. The screen method i spoke to you about for merging, worked super well, within 12hrs, knocking the hive, all in unison and quick to silence, 24hrs, screen removed both merged without fighting, i kept hive shut for the 24hrs whilst screen was on
Great video as usual Dave . Have you ever tried fresh hops in your smoker ? I use it now after trying it . really works to calm them down and smells pretty good too.
I've been tapping your videos first recently , much respect for your priceless knowledge and experience . Please keep it up!!! Do you find the mean/hot hives defend themselves better against bugs and or disease? (Take the African bees as example) what's your experiences? Is horizontal the way to go or not ??? Seems like a no brainer to this newbee.. I've been utilizing a spray bottle (I am picky and do not use tap) to get my way with the girls in combination with a feather. There is a time in a place for smoke, maybe could be rarely not regularly.. the trade is a little more feisty guards for more natural approach. Thanks for listening, lol hope you have time to share your thoughts. From Denver, CO. And edgewater, FL. Hives with love
Than You David! How's the Ornery hive? Is this the one that's Ornery? What weird weather we're having in Illinois and Iowa. It's supposed to be almost 90° again this weekend.. I just can't help but think that really screws up the bees.

Amaizing. Worked all summer without gloves successfully. Maybe next year I'll be brave enough to pick her up.

I think window screen work really good for combining colonies. Thanks for the videos 👍🐝
Thanks, David! So cool to get my questions answered so quick!

Can a combine a small hive with laying workers with a strong hive with a strong queen?
Thank you David!!
How many times did you get stung during this inspection? Thanks!
What about all the foragers from that hive that are out? Do you still have the hive you took frames from?
Interesting combine method. Thanks for sharing David. I guess you are concerned that the hive was feisty because of genetics and not the weather?

I only have 2 hives and. 1 swarmed a week ago. The other hive is strong. Should I put the small colony in with the strong one?

The combining didn’t happen…???
what camera do you use?
With cameras, the lens is the most important item. The lens I use is a Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM Lens on my Canon R10 using an adapter.
@@beek is that the one you had at the convergence?
Yes, it's a beast to carry around. The lens is soooo heavy.
