    I had done the same, the side keels fit me well, the central keel gave me many problems, I did not use the vacuum pump. I will have to assemble a vacuum pump. thanks friend. excellent work, greetings from Argentina, M.A.R. surfboards

    Hi there, im currently carrying out a fin making project and am focusing on laminate design. I was just wondering what lay up orientation you used for this, and whether it provided you with a good strong fin. Thanks

    Hey awesome job! Why do you make vacuum twice for the same piece? Do you use a kind of fiber glass over the carbon furface in the firts vacuum and polyestyrene in the second?

      hi thanks, first vacuum bag for carbon fiber, second vacuum bag for eps, final compression twice moulds. I make separatly because the pressure and time is diferent in each material.

      virus Thanks for your feedback!!I got it. But what is the purpose using Eps in the second vacuum.

    • @virus_virus
      @virus_virus  7 років тому

      eps gives to the fin the support, like a surfboard, best method to getr a fin strong and lighter

      Ok ok. I'd like to try for my kiteboard. It use to be smalller than yours. So I suppose that your procedure will work properly. When you are filling moulds with carbon fiber (both sides) do you fill until the top of the mound or keep some space for eps and how many space ?

      @virus_virus  7 років тому

      first vacuum three layers of carbon fiber, next eps, finally compression moulds

    a set of fins cost approx 100$
    how many hours to make one ?
    no need to continue my demo ... good job though :)

      You will not buy a fin like this ever!
      32g one fin. Less than 100g three fins.
      I spend the time, 2-3h to make 3 fins, I'm looking for the lowest weight on my surfboard.
      If you don´t understand better buy.
