The aglet of your hoodie was sucked into the aerometer which destroyed the blades. Beyond that, great test!

Btw some extractors have adjustable strength of suction so this can help adjust.
    Great content

I cannot express how long I was searching for exactly this test. I am currently adding a second extractor to my system

That's awesome! take a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/oQZpXUaPZlg/v-deo.html I did a bunch more research on how to hook up multiple motors and at the 18:00 min I go into a little more depth that might help.

So awesome when something is so strong that the meter can't take it!😂😂😂 So now that you've done this, I would really love to see what would happen if you hooked up two shopvacs close together but when they meet, connect a 4 inch hose. I use a Rousseau dust hood for my miter saw and it takes a 4 inch hose. I typically have it hooked up to a Rockler 650CFM dust right, and it does OK, but I'm curious if I could get more suction with just a 4 inch hose connected to two shopvacs. I also am in love with the Ridgid wet/dry vacs. I have the 6.5hp 16 gallon stainless steel model. So amazing!

YES! I've been wanting to test pipe diameter for a wile. It will definitely be my next test.

@@rightsidedownstudio Do this and you are approaching the CamVAC design idea of 2 high draw low volume vacuum that still move good cfm, This is why I run dual 6.5 16 gallon nxt's in my shop on 4" Dust Rite

Oneida Supercell and Record Camvacs use the same multi-motor principle. They are INCREDIBLY strong machines. You oughta look into the Record for your shop. They’re fairly inexpensive in the world of dust collectors and they’re AWESOME! Love mine!

load recovery would change.. meaning on 10 foot hose you would have 40 cfm.. now you could get 40 cfm over 20 foot hose.. just doing the basics here.. good call on the 90's bruh

  • @blahahbly11

You won’t increase the cfm when you have the vacuums hooked together in series, but you will increase the suction power. If you had them hooked up in parallel, with a larger pipe diameter, you will increase cfm but not suction. It’s a give and take. I have two Harbor Freight 2hp dust collectors hooked up in series and the suction is insane. If I increased the pipe diameter from 4” to 6” I’d hook them up in parallel increasing my cfm but not suction.

completely agree, I am going to try increasing pipe diameter wile maintain good suction with shops vacs. I'm not sure if it's possible while staying practical.

For the noise issue, maybe use two of the DeWalt reduced decibel vacs.

A few other people have suggested that as well. I'm putting together a video now testing pipe diameter so I might get two of them for testing.

@@rightsidedownstudio I think that would be very interesting. That or one of those Rigid Motor on the Bottom vacuums.

30 m a second might be necessary with hydro excavation, in fact, I'm watching this video because I'm planning to connect multiple shop vacuums for hydro excavating

  • @panamafred1

The results surprised me, too. I'm wondering if two vacuums on a small pipe would put strain on the motors. Like getting cat hair hung up on Legos that you accidently sucked up and got stuck in the hose. Does an increase in the whine (small pipe reducing air flow-ability) stress the motor(s)? Secondarily, what is the decibel level with both running? Humanly bearable? Will the neighbors think they live next to a jet engine testing facility?

    • @rightsidedownstudio
      @rightsidedownstudio  4 місяці тому

The noise is pretty unbearable, I'm putting together a video now testing pipe diameter with one and two vac setups. This time though I'm going with two of the DeWalt Stealthsonic vacs so hopefully that will fix the noise issue.

Maybe dumb question, isn't the duststopper connected backwards? I wonder if there would have been even more airflow with the suction going in its designed direction.

HOLY CRAP!!! you're right LOL! I was so preoccupied with setting up the shot it put it together backwards. Welp, I need to redo that test in my next video.

I’d say, practically speaking, if you will, no one is gonna use more than three vacuums in their shop. With that being said, use no less than double that plus 1 makes 7 shop vacs
