Our youngest daughter will be going into 8th grade. We start school on Monday. Looks like you have some good curriculum choices. We love TGATB grammar.
That was so great, Julie! I love all your choices and believe Elijah will have an amazing year of learning! I’d love to hear how, as your son approaches high school, if his extra curriculars or anything will change too. We’re a couple years behind you but I’m constantly thinking and wondering what high school will look like for my high schoolers (boy first!). Blessings!
Thank you so much! I’ve had so much to think about to plan this year, I haven’t thought about high school yet. But once we get settled into this year, I’ll spend some time researching what is required, and what we plan to do! And of course I’ll share those plans! 😃
I don’t have an 8th grader, but I enjoy watching all of your videos. Our oldest is in 5th grade down to 10 months. We are doing level 5 as well. We completed level 4 last year. I’m just hoping it’s not too much for him, but I can always stretch it into next year.
Yeah for sure! My sister ordered TGATB at her kids’ levels, and when I flipped through them, it didn’t seem all that different, like they quite slowly advance. I probably could have put them in their own grades, but I want them to learn it thoroughly without gaps, so I don’t mind them doing a lower level!
My 8th grade daughter will be using TGTB LA level 7 as well as level 7 HW even though she did that same HW last year. She just loves their HW books so she's repeating that.
I am new to homeschooling. Thank you for your information. I just pulled my son out of public school due to his frequent absences and not doing to well specially with pre algebra and history. Do I have to learn all this again in order to teach him or they can learn on their own with our supervision? I graduated high school in 1996 in Spanish and it was different that how is tought now. I don’t even know how to start. 😢 He has ADHD and I really want to make it smooth and easy for him to learn all he needs to learn
Apologia science was a hard jump for us. We ended up emailing the company and they gave us a alternate test which was a little easier. This was with the previous edition, but it was definitely helpful.
We have one in 8th, 6th, 3rd, and Pre-K this year... we have already started softly with a GR Dinosaurs unit, then transitioning to Sonlight's Core W for the year with breaks to do their Thanksgiving and Christmas units. Feeling the pressure this year because he will be attending public and thrn private high school. 😬
@@mamatofive1 I was going to say that we used IEW's Level B Year 1 last year and really enjoyed that. We're doing Level B Year 2 this year. His brother (6th grade) will be doing Year 1 this year. He did one of IEW's other books and had a lot of success, despite being a reluctant writer. I don't know if you've checked them out, but I feel like they do a good job breaking writing into manageable pieces. Hope this year is a good one for you too!
Wondering what your thoughts are on the Bible woven into Gather Round…do you know what version they use? Do you compare the verses with the KJV as a family and discuss the differences?
I believe they use ESV…we don’t change anything up, they do the copy work and Bible pages that are in GR, but we do our own memory work with our separate morning Bible time 😊
Julie wonderful video I love watching you Always Teaching your Children about God our Heavenly Father much love Cathy🙏🏻✝️☮️❤️🌹💕💐💙🌺🍀💜💚🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, Cathy! I hope you’re doing well! 😊
@@mamatofive1 I am doing okay Thank you 🙏🏻
How exciting! What a wonderful adventure for all of you. And an opportunity to learn so much first hand. 🎉

Thank you julie for this video. In your opinion is GR Science not enough for 8th grade and up?

We love TGTB for LA and my 3rd son who is going into grade 8 will be doing the same science.
Oh nice! Have you done Apologia with your other kids too?
Apologia science was a hard jump for us. We ended up emailing the company and they gave us a alternate test which was a little easier. This was with the previous edition, but it was definitely helpful.
Oh that’s good to know! I guess we’ll see what happens.

Oh wow, pressure for sure! I’m sure he’ll transition well, and hopefully this year goes well first! 😊 Your curriculum choices sound great!

I'm sure you've covered it, but what math will he be doing? I know you will ALL have a great year!!!!😊
