Grades are arbitrary. Since we don’t subscribe to the public school system, why would we care about grades or levels vs age? My 6 year old is doing kinder language but second grade math 🤷🏻♀️ I agree with you about the more fun curriculums especially when they’re little - we want to foster a LOVE of learning not make it a chore. ❤
We love Beast Academy and Math with Confidence and I have a student that really struggles with math and those 2 curriculums have changed the game for us!!
My older kids like to pop in with games in LOE too. My 1st grader is going slowly with LOE too so don't feel bad. Currently we're using LOE Foundations B and MWC 2nd Grade for my 1st grader and LOE Foundations A with MWC 1st grade for my kindergartener. Just moving at their pace. On days where we're overwhelmed (I do overnight caregiving), we use Reading Eggs and Mathseeds. And we expect to move on to the next levels of LOE and MWC next school year.
The kindergarten TGATB math was super fun, but by the end I realized there were already some serious gaps. We switched to rays arithmetic to finish out the year and now we are going back through Kindergarten with math with confidence and I am sure we will hit first grade Math with confidence as well since we have already done a year of kinder. ❤❤ great picks!
@@songsofhealing777 every child is going to be different, the reason for the gaps in my opinion is the fact that it’s a massive spiral and it only ever talks about math on the surface level. They also don’t teach the kids numbers 1-100 you are suppose to teach them this outside of the curriculum but they need to know it in the curriculum. Most kids are coming out of level K without knowing place value or why math works the way it does. There are things I really liked about it and may use it as a summer curriculum as that is what it felt like. My child was able to complete this curriculum in 6 months. So we may intertwine it as a fun thing alongside of another math.
I have a rising 2nd grader and I'm just looking for a good book for the summer of 2024 to get him ready. Any advice. Please, can you or any of your viewers guide me. Thank you in advance.
We love LOE foundations! It’s such a wonderful program and gives kids a great *foundation* ❤
I also love chatting about curriculum and homeschooling 😂 That is a big reason why I started a channel too!

Thanks friend
I’m so excited to see how you do all your group subjects with your younger kiddos!
Schoolnest just dropped a new planner and it's beautiful

There are also read alouds for the MWC books on UA-cam if you ever need a break from reading lol
Haha! Good idea! Thank you 💗
I would love to see how you organize your LOE if the other person does not want you to share.
Will do! 💗
Also would love, could you share the other creators channel?
ooh I am thinking about switching from TGTB to MWC at 3rd grade because I was not impressed with 2nd grade. Have you ever tried Apologia math?
We switched my kindergartner from All About Reading to Foundations A. I’m hopefully that this will help with her phonetic awareness more

Can you explain the "serious gaps"? I was thinking about using GnB curriculum for my children. Please respond.

So true. What grades are even for?
Right!!
