I keep hearing people complain about lack of VST3 and "workflow improvements", that I'm sure Reason is working on... but this video shows why I keep coming back to Reason as my favorite DAW. It's just so much fun to experiment and go crazy, and all in front of you - no menu diving and popups like other DAWs. Looking forward to trying this new device.
agreed, then u look at the price and change your mind. 110 (110!) euros for a single device NOT INCLUDED IN R12 so even if u buy the upgrade to 12 u don't get the new vocoder. Further, they didn't even made a launch price!!! A SHAME!!! The only way would be the subscription, but for an old customer that OWN the daw is a non-sense!!!

All daws are Quality i use Reason from version 2, some like more fl, some studio one, i llike Reason becuse i use it a Long time. But Reasonneed machnes like uhe s ore tone 2
True plus if you cant find a sound or a way to make a particular sound within Reason I think they must not know it very well. I here alot of VST sythersizors being used in Reason but I just think, "Hmmm why are they using that when Thor, or Europa, or Melstrum can make the exact same sound?" I see it alot.
As a long time fan of Vocoders (and one time owner of the Roland SVC-350) I have to say that I aim impressed with the quality, faithfulness, and improvements to vocoding in general that this plug in as achieved.

Include this for all Reason 12 buyers and owners and 1 make your Reason community very happy and more loyal for future updates, 2 Sell more copys of Reason 12 or just offer only to Reason plus users and make Reason stand alone users disappointed. I know you want to make money there is alot of VSTs and even Free Daws out there right now. Free or included valuable things like plugins creates a positive feeling towards a company and increase sales this is why so much great stuff is free permanently or for a time period. Aturia, Native Instruments, Akai to name a few. BV X Looks great.

I also use and iPad pretty extensively and with all the crazy cool synth and sound design apps they do now with those + reason 11 I'm kinda set. I can basically recreate this exact vocoder by chaining the right effects and then I can even send the input into reason 11 for even more.. but yeah that's really dumb. Another gripe about the new "reason studios" (propellerhead must have been the REASON ;) for reason being so different and unique and loyal to customers, but they got rid of that so... Here we are) but another bone I have with them is their iOS Apps. "Reason Compact" .... It's virtually nothing like Reason. Cubasis3 on iOS is VIRTUALLY cubasis on PC ... But Reason Compact is like a little toy (a 50$ little toy) compared to the desktop version. And even if you own reason, or reason+ or reason 12 even, you still have to buy to unlock every single element of their little app. Every effect, synth, etc costs like 10$ or more, it looks and feels like something made by ampify or bandlab or something... But what really gets me is you get reason studios reward points for downloading the iOS apps and for buying the app unlocks, BUT YOU CANT USE THOSE REWARDS towards purchasing any reason apps or unlocking paid sections of their apps... Even using the rewards store is confusing cus if you press the wrong button your back in the reason studios shop and like 90% of it isn't included in the rewards store and you can't even tell what is or isn't applicable towards your reward vouchers. I had enough for a 25$ voucher but there is nothing in the rewards store less that 40$..... !?! It's just.... Yeah
@@cooperlyle8781 I said offer the BV X for a minimum of 2 weeks for all Reason 12 owners new and old. Now there are ways of getting Reason 12 cheaper by buying an old Reason 1 to 11 used online either the actual software or just the license. You can get Reason 11 lite licence for under $20 or buy an old boxed Reason for under $40 and then you only pay then $200 to get 12 from there. As for the BV X the green section on there is identical sounding to the Metallic effect on Goldwave audio editor and that's over 15 years old. I let you into a little secret, all of My music on My channel that's been published is from Reason 4 lol. Take a listen to the effects and the mutating sounds that sound like there comming from Europa shape shifter synthesizer. My trick to creat fast wave changes is to just slow down the bpm and the record automation on the MClass EQ then put back to normal speed and the wave form is basically having the same effect as shape shifting the wave. My automation jumps all over the place, looks cool. The only thing I need from later version of Reason is the pitch edit, I can do everything else in Abalten 11 and gold wave.
109 euros for a single device is crazy, you can get Ovox by Waves for 29 euros and it has nothing to envy to this. I mean, from Propellerhead to Reason Studio they became greedy, already customers are very disappointed BUT THEY SIMPLY DON'T GIVE A F***, despite WE make them rich by supporting their work through the years, before the f*******g submission thing!
Love it! But what I really appreciate is that for over 20 years Reason has stayed true to it's guns: Creating a platform that makes creativity fun! Keep up the great work. PS would love to see something like this for the Humana RE. A RE that can control the lyrics sang by the choir...that would be wild. just my thoughts...
Oh shit! After watching the Livestream and seeing Mattias pull off some magic with the built in unison and reverb I think it might already be possible to create something like a choir with a little tweaking...🤔
I ran this with a guitar today and made a really cool talk box it works really well, just replace the with BV-X in front of the Reason guitar amp and boom Talkbox!

Very interesting tool. Can you just use two of your own audio streams and have one as carrier other as source (or vise versa), would this work if the plugin is set to 'init'. so the other pre-programmed presets don't interfere? Looks like a lot of fun to play with, especially with voice-overs
I can't make sense of this vocoder !? why can't anyone explain the absolute basics? I usually use a vocoder ( TAL ) as an instrument NOT an effect. The midi notes are played on the instrument channel and I side chain the vocal in from another track. This is so odd and difficult update worked it out , audio track created , BV-X added as effect , drag my midi track onto the BV-X lane. Easy really but not one video explains this ! they keep on going about playing the keyboard , which I can't do well enough. Plus use vocoder patches otherwise you keep having to turn the auto button off
what instruments (actual synths), tools, or features do you mostly use with roland cloud. forgive me for not knowing too much about it as i mostly stay mc707 standalone. i used to sometimes mess with zenology beat program when i had an i pad and its cool that it still works with my android phones. also in the past i bought a few kits or whatever they are with the sfz patch files for my 707 (only like a buck a piece!). but yea curious how you would like to implement the roland cloud stuff into reason

This device looks and sounds very good although I'm not too keen on the Airy/chipmunk sound to be honest. I really hope this can produce that classic Kraftwerk style rrrrrrrrrobot! Perhaps some Cylon! The device looks easy-ish to use and not cluttered with too many choices, as in too many buttons or dials to explore, it is not overwhelming on the eye. Great device, I also want to give a shout out to BV-X manual. Great explanation of Vocoders and good visuals. Always a good read. Also, what is the naming scheme for the new effects why lose the numbers? RV7 turned into RV7000, why not turn it into BV5000 or so? Is there any reason or thought behind the naming that I missed?
@@CristiNeagu That`s certainly the case for why the BV512 was named that way but I think even in the BV-X the highest resolution is equivalent to 512 frequency bands. I guess it`s not so important how the device is called, and I was simply curious why they picked this name.
Ryan, I started with an audio track & added BV-X as an effect & although my vocals are coming through, when I try to play the keys to achieve the vocoder effect...nothing. I'm using an akai mpk 261 controller board & have tried every combination possible to get this thing to work. Bummer. Any ideas? Thanks!

All of Reason's devices can be used inside the Reason Rack Plugin which is a VST itself. Subscribing to Reason+ is the easiest (and most affordable) way to get your hands on the VST plugin, and BV-X and the rest of our devices.
Also check out the other BV-X videos on the Reason Studios channel because there are set up tutorials for how to set up the vocoder in Logic, Live, Studio One, and FL Studio.

It definitely can :) In Vintage mode, especially with fewer bands, you'll get very classic sounds.

Hello, looks and sounds like a very serious tool, congrats. But in order to be able to use it in my existing setup (and replacing vocoders in songs) I need to run it as VST plugin. Is there a way to do it? I couldn't find this info on your site. Thanks!
You can run Reason as Vst, so yes you can do that
All of Reason's devices can be used inside the Reason Rack Plugin which is a VST itself. Subscribing to Reason+ is the easiest (and most affordable) way to get your hands on the VST plugin, and BV-X and the rest of our devices.

I was upset about the $200 hit to my bank account for reason+ earlier this year. Not so much anymore. Can we continue to get true quality tools like this?
