As my voice teacher was fond of saying, “Just because you can technically hit the note doesn’t mean anyone wants to hear you hit the note.” Vocal tone is so important on those high notes.
I know, right? I can’t believe that a tenor would have so much strain in his high notes, which should be in his tessitura (comfortable singing range). He just sucks.
This is my biggest fear ever. Actually getting to be a well known and overall respected artist just to end up SO self absorbed and out of touch with reallity it physically makes everyone collectivelly cringe. I would 100% have a full on panic atack if I realized I put out something like this and it was to late to go back.
hi. i had a crisis recently and i am in a mental hospital with limited access to my phone and this is getting me through those times. thank you for being so relatable its like im hanging out with a friend. so thank you brad
the funny thing with panic over the years becoming the Brendon Urie project is the fact when the band first started, brendon wasn’t an original member, and was brought in originally just for guitar, Ryan was singing, if I’m not mistaken, brendon singing Time To Dance is what changed everything
Hot take but as a non-patd fan I think Brendon has an AMAZING voice. I just think he developed a talent over the past several years for finding all of the worst ways to use it and none of the right ways.
As a questioning-patd fan (it gets worse each release), I agree. I think Brendon’s lower registers sound smooth and refined, and there’s even some times when his belting is great and appropriate for the song. But he’s just been so hell-bent on trying to show off his vocals on every song for the past 3 albums, and it very rarely sounds good on any of the tracks
i think DOAB showcases his range best of any of the albums, all these later ones where hes trying to hard to show off and the mixing is horrible is just what makes it so bad
I once read that “Brendon Urie is an amazing musician but terrible songwriter, whereas Mark Hoppus is a terrible musician but amazing songwriter” and it’s the most accurate thing ever
"Adam's Song", "No, It isn't", "Dogs Eating Dogs", "Stay Together For The Kids", and the entirety of the blink-182 self titled are pretty fucking solid in my book by Mark's work.
27:52 as Brad miserably holds his head in his hands from the cringe , then looks up in stunned disbelief hearing “🎶makes me want to slit my wrists” sung in such a jaunty, carefree way -Brad's hilarious.
Brendon was just burning me out with his notes. Trying to make every song this grand thing to showcase his high pitched vocal runs at every given chance. And he's been having trouble trying to sing these songs live lately.
i went to listen to the album bc i had to take my sibling to see him preform and i had to stop bc he sounded like he was straining his voice so badly it was uncomfortable to listen to
My Chemical Romance used a Queen influence in The Black Parade, but it WORKED. Unlike Brendon Urie, the MCR guys made it their OWN. That's what makes them so great. And when they were losing inspiration, they broke up in 2013. If you can't write good music, either disband, or go on hiatus. That's what Brendon should've done. Now that MCR is back, their newest song is AMAZING! It actually sounds like something a 40-something-year-old would write. Gerard Way has really matured and grown as a lyricist.
Why did you randomly memory hole their shit albums before the break up? They lost inspiration way before they broke up if your bar for it is good music.
plus, foundations of decay successfully returns mcr to their roots and shows that they have a reason for being together. brendon urie has no reason to be in music other than riding the coattails of his bandmates and being abandoned in the spotlight.
I relistened to Pretty Odd today and I instantly saw a consistent focus on production, harmony, and overall quality. You can admit that the earlier stuff still isn't the most amazing thing, but you can't deny that the earlier stuff had Panic! at their most consistent. So basically what I'm saying is that Panic! was better as a band.
The creativity was just through the roof with A fever and Pretty odd. On top of that the songwriting was much much better. Ryan and Brendon seemed like a talented force: Ryan being the songwriter with clever lyrics and Brendon being the fantastic vocalist who can give a theatrical performance
this album feels like an audition tape for the spot Adam Lambert has with Queen, like Brendon didn't know the position had already been filled or he is jealous that he wasn't picked
coming back to this after panic! disbanded, and the fact that this is the band's final album is nothing short of a shakespearean tragedy. and before anyone beats me to it, we all know they write sins not tragedies
I went back and re-listened to the album and I've come to the conclusion that it's specifically for that one kid in high school choir that always gets the solos. You know the one I'm talking about. This album was made to give that kid a huge ego boost.
I don't feel like I'm listening to PATD but it's like they're trying to be something they're not. I wanna listen to PATD, not Bohemian Rhapsody: the album😄
I like how almost no one says "new Panic! at the Disco album", everyone says "this new Brendon Urie album sucks". The band had its own sound, Brendon has always wanted to be the new shitty version of Queen, which isn't much to begin with. Now, when everyone left, - although "Death of a Bachelor" was good - Brendon can finally fulfil his dream. The result? 3/10 at best. Rest in peace, Panic! at the Disco.
@@ismaill_l I'm not the original commenter but nothing is wrong with Queen- the issue is that Brendon is so obsessed with trying to recreate their sound that his songs end up sounding flat and boring.
It's wild to me that he wanted to pivot fully to pop when they very seriously could have refined their older sound and let the lyrics mature. They had solid storytelling and a good grasp of their aesthetic. I get that bands split over creative differences all the time, but it's pretty clear that he wasn't even 70% of the equation before and continues to push forward as 100% of a new problem
translation: panic would never have been shit without either ryan ross OR dallon weekes fuelling the best aesthetics and sounds behind Brendon’s shadow
@@tobiasheadrick8092 yes it was. that’s why ryan and john left. there was no beef at ALL and that drama started bc of a stalker. kenny was fired for being a pedo, brent was arrested, spencer left bc of drugs and dallon left to do his own thing. brendon WAS NOT the problem
I feel like the theatrical/musical thing he thinks he’s pulling off here was done really well and with integrity on an album like folie à deux. He’s just simply a singer at the end of the day, he’s not a songwriter and he needs someone else’s direction. The best songs he’s ever written were on pretty odd following Ryan’s direction.
I started to be disinterested in his music starting a couple years ago, especially after High Hope was played everywhere all the damn time. His music became so grating on my ears to me personally. And then the thing that completely killed any interest I had in his music was seeing that video of him at a concert say that if he sees any girl after the concert, he’s gonna fuck them whether they want it or not. Super fucked thing to say, and I was completely okay with just not listening to his music anymore.
Oh yeah High Hope was okay but annoyingly overplayed. His 'Me' song with Taylor Swift is just bad. Idk how old that stuff is but man the 'spelling is fun' line is... idk how that got played on radio.
why does like, no one else remember the slew of accusations that were thrown at him like 2 years ago?? I remember that shit was all over the internet for a hot minute. But regardless, i feel the same. Around the time of High Hopes was when I lost interest in anything else new he's made. I still sometimes listen to older P!ATD tracks but its becoming more and more few and far between
@@squillz8310 I looked at it up a bit and lots of people are saying that it was faked, but I did find the info on the brendourie subreddit, so take it with a grain of salt.
I haven't seen a single fan of PATD actually like anything about this album. Its funny because at this point, the fandom kind of generally dislikes Urie lol
I took my daughter to see PATD about 5 years ago, she was 13 and is no longer a fan. 2 highlights- 1) He sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun 2) The whole second half of the show, he was just in leather pants 😉
The main thing I remember from listening to this album was the throbbing migraine I got from laughing SO hard during the entirety of Star Spangled Banger.
Don't Let The Light Go Out is probably the best on the album, but every time the line "You're the only one who can operate my heavy machinery" comes on, i wanna cry.
As an ex-panic fan… it’s kind of satisfying to see him flop, but I’m upset that he did it with the panic name. He killed that band. He is the reason everyone left. Now all that’s left is the name
Even if you don’t like a band - or individual - it’s a little strange to be genuinely excited to see them fail. And I’m not defending him either, I am well aware of the fact that he’s been driving away members of the band for years now. But that doesn’t make it any less unhealthy to take enjoyment from someone else falling.
@@ninja_tony not to try to defend crazy behavior (which I guess just means ima bout to do that) but if I try to think about it, it’s kinda like watching a show you liked that ran for way too long for your liking and finally seeing it end. Like how the Flash is ending. Its better to watch it end now than continue it get worse. Not a 1 to 1 comparison, but trying to help the OP not sound like a psycho.
The thing I hate most is that during some of Brendon's livestreams, it was proven that he could still do good stuff. Some of those little snippets he revealed sounded better than anything this or "Pray For The Wicked". And yet, he gives us this hot garbage. So, it's not a matter of no talent or no creativity, it's a matter of not caring. (And yes, this may just be me being angry that we didn't get a metal album. But gosh darn it, that demo was great!)
@lonewanderer5627 Regarding the Queen influence- the thing is that Freddie Mercury with the rest of Queen were excellent at building momentum with their music. Freddie didn't belt 90% of the time and instead utilized different parts of his vocal range in the melody.
I was a HUGE p!atd fan up until DOAB (no big reason, i stopped following them when i got into other genres), I still hold a lot of love for their early discography even when I listen to it now. I think Brendon does have a ton of vocal talent but that being said, HE DOES NOT NEED TO SING IN HIGH NOTES FOR AN ENTIRE SONG! We get it, he can sing but I think his lower register works for his voice much better. I'm also of the opinion that people would have much less of an issue with his last 2 albums if he just stopped using the p!atd name, it hurts to see a band I once loved get tarnished by this wannabe Queen/theater shit. I hope the hate for this album gives him somewhat of a wake-up call, but he's probably so far up his own ass he won't care.
While i get your point, P! hasn't been "emo" since like 2005. they always switch up the genre. It's not a genre issue, people just dont like the songs. Panic fits pftw and vlv
Pretty Odd was their best album. I don't think any song on that album was trash, and like you said, the sound was consistent. They're all pretty, unique, and creative.
29:24 whoever made that death grips comparison deserves to get shoved into a locker. death grips being dark and depraved is what they do and their music is for edgy teens to adults. Panic at the disco safe is as hell pop music made for kids so Brendon throwing in a reference about self harm is out of place and in poor taste.
for real! it's not even relevant to the themes of the song! if something about Maggie was doing an actual exploration of what appears to be a woman and her abusive boyfriend and it mentioned how she's sad/depressed and the songs goes like I know what he does/how he makes you feel, like you want to slit your wrists. sure it's dark doesn't fucking work with the chorus or music but it would be thematically relevant to include it.
Exactly, it's probably the fattest L take I've ever seen. Such an obvious difference writing a song about struggling with mental battles and making a shocking line for the sake of being shocking.
Its always so amazing to see people with absolutely no reading (or listening i guess) comprehension whatsoever. Like if you showed them a song exploring the authors deep personal feelings about suicide vs. a one off comment about self harm in an otherwise upbeat song they genuinely would not be able to tell the difference between the two examples. Its like telling an NPC to interpret a song
with "pray for the wicked" i was like "oh... not a big fan, but i at least like a couple of songs" but the new album,,, is just,,, what? it's like since he became a solo artist he's getting progressively worse, the lyrics fucking suck and he's constantly singing really high, seemingly just to show off he can do it. this is one of those albums you'll forget in a week _or_ remember for being awful lmao
Thats how i feel, Pray for the wicked had some very decent songs with the only one i really hate was high hopes Even when that album was him quitting completely the punk rock sound the "band" use to have
This, after the last album, has officially killed all hope for Brendon to really mature as an artist. Dude is 35 and only seems like he's getting worse. He took 4 years to write an album that any of his peers, the one and only Tyler Joseph included, could have pumped out in less than one. There isn't a single redeemable lyric on the album, these vocals are far from his best, and the production and chord progressions are laughably simple. Anyone giving this higher than a 4 needs to have their Spotify banned. L release.
simple chord progressions can be done well. not every song needs some complicated shit. however, this album sucks so maybe that couldve made it .1% more interesting!
@@bonkknob3240 I completely agree with saying simple chord progressions can be done well, but for what this album was trying to be it doesn't really work imo. He needed to really wow with something complex and interesting to sell the album and he just doesn't do it.
say what you will about tyler joseph, but at least he tries with his music and even the most basic songs at least have some interesting production or structure.
i feel the biggest sin this album commits is being extremely derivative. Every single part of this project counts on you saying "oh, this reminds me this other good song, so by proxy this song is also good!" which is the most condescending thing any astist can do to their audience to give 'em the illusion of quality and appeal.
I kinda liked the beginning of the first song, but then I realized it was just reminding me of Bulletproof Heart by MCR, and I’m 95% sure Ive heard an even more similar song but can’t think of it currently.
Can you guys recommend me albums/songs that are better versions of these? I genuinely like the sound of Viva Las Vengeance but if it's just a ripoff I'd rather listen to the original
@@kajiko88 the album razzmatazz by "I don't know how but they found me" (it's a long name, I know) is what I was talking about. the whole band is great if you wanna check them out, they only have 1 album and 1 ep out at the moment.
as someone who used to be a brendon urie fanboy in high school (regret), he very much DOES wanna be freddy mercury because he not only has covered bohemian rhapsody, he's performed it like COUNTLESS TIMES on tour like he really wants to i can tell LMAOOOOO edit: ah...didnt watch the whole video thru and just got to that part. glad you've been informed already lol
P!ATD used to be one of my most favourite bands, and I still find myself coming back to some of their older songs out of nostalgia. I genuinely think that Brendon has a great voice and generally has the potential to do great things. But it feels like his whole thing these days is "the bigger, the better". Him trying to flex his voice every second of every song makes them impossible to listen to in my opinion. In his previous albums, there was usually some sort of build-up to the more impressive vocals, making them just generally more exciting. It would be sooo much better if Brendon used some variety in his vocals and made use of his lower register. Another thing that also disappointed me was the instrumental in each of the songs. It was literally just background noise that Brendon sang over. I miss the songs where the instrumental was just as thought-out and exciting as the vocals, instead of being something to fill the bits of empty space with. I thought Pray for the Wicked was underwhelming, but it had some high points, despite it being a failed copy and paste of Death of a Bachelor. But unlike those albums, Viva Las Vengeance didn't have a single song I managed to listen to all the way through. So yeah, rest in peace, Panic! at the Disco
Agreed. DOAB was the last decent album. I used to be a dedicated Panic! fan, too. Saw them 4 times in concert, and I don’t think I’ll want to ever again. I still think V&V and Too Rare hold up, though.
@@AngelineProductions I agree! DOAB was actually a pretty good album, and now I guess it was also Brendon's peak as an individual artist. I really do like Panic's older albums though, especially Too Weird to Live, or Vices & Virtues. Many of the songs on those albums were written by Dallon though, so I guess that's what made them kinda special in my opinion. P!ATD's music really lost that charm after Brendon was left alone
My partner and I broke up recently and before we did they really liked this album, so seeing it get review bombed makes me happy in a schadenfreude sort of way :))
This entire albums sounds like something Brendon made within 4-5 months during lockdown out of sheer boredom and forgot about it for a a good couple years until someone dug it up and reminded him of how much money he could make off of this afterthought from 2020.
couldnt agree more and i think this album is brendon experimenting as the only way to get a hit song is to make it sound like every other song in the charts and this album is fresh and different to other "Hit Songs" from this year
I’ve been a fan of panic for years and this album did disappoint in my opinion but I feel like Brendon saw how much High Hopes did so well he decided to make it similar and he worked with a new studio group and it all just flopped down.
From all of the interviews he has done, it seems that he just wanted to write some stuff for fun based off his own musical preferences like 70s to 80s rock opera and Broadway music. Each album has a different sound and he does like experimenting so there will be albums some like and some dislike. Maybe his next album will be more to people's taste! As someone who grew up listening to rock opera and Broadway I think this album is fun but I know this type of music is an acquired taste.
I wasn't a fan of High Hopes when it came out. I thought it was annoying, and it only got more annoying the more I heard it. When it blew up, it was so obvious for me that, in some way, it was gonna influence what Brendon did next. It was disheartening. Hearing this album, it definitely veered him in a new direction, and most people seem to agree it was for the worse.
This is one of the most ear-grating albums I've heard in a long time; if I heard this blasting in a supermarket I'd have to walk out lest I get a headache whilst perusing for some spinach.
@@123rockfan I actually quite enjoy the earlier work from panic at the disco, but since "high hopes" and it just being Brendan, to me personally there's been a quality drop off. One of the benefits of being in a group is having people to wrangle one another in, in older works I feel his voice is more in tune with the rest of the song's elements, but now it sounds overperformed and strained.
This album sounds like Brendon can’t accept he’s not 18 anymore This is painfully theatercore but what else can I expect from Mr. Theatercore himself At least the titles of his songs don’t take a million years to read anymore, I genuinely appreciate that, that shit was obnoxious. That’s unrelated but when’s the next time I’m gonna comment on a video involving P!atD lol
Absolutely no objections from me to any criticism of his super overrated vocals. I adore Patrick Stump's voice and it used to drive me crazy when people compared them, even if I admit they have an element of similarity on the surface, cause when you listen to any song they both sing on the difference is profound. One has both a soul voice and so much soul in their voice and the other is Brendon Urie.
Patrick sounds genuine and organic, sometimes I literally replay parts of fob songs just to hear him sing because his voice sounds so smooth and matches the melody perfectly. Brendon Urie sounds fake and strained, specially in the past few years. He's always trying to show off his range but never connects with the music. He has some songs where he just lets his voice flow, and it sounds nice, but most of the time his vocals are boring and shallow.
As someone who saw both of them live in while deep in my emo phase, and saw Fall out boy live again recently, I couldnt agree more. Say what you want about the overall quality of fall out boy's music, they could probably get away with writing anything with a vocalist like that
The last minute of “One Of THOSE Nights” by The Cab is a perfect example of this tbh. Their voices are sooo different and it couldn’t be clearer than when you hear Patrick sing immediately after Brendon, it’s crazy. 🤯
@@digitalbritt2k EXACTLY! 😊 it's probably my favourite example. I love that the first time I ever heard it I was like 'ok maybe Patrick's voice is just super blended in or something...' and then it gets to his bit and I was just reminded once again how truly awesome his voice actually is and like you say especially in comparison to Brendon who is just....there. I love how just a few lines of him singing a guest vocal can lift and transform a whole song (stuff like Transit's All Your Heart for example).
as someone who enjoyed all the albums before this (even pftw to an extent) this album didn’t do it for me at all, i feel like only theatre kids would enjoy it, specifically the ones who always got to flex their vibrato and be the center of attention 🎃
One of my most hated things about singers is having unnecessary vibrato on almost every word or line they sing. Like, you don't have to show us you can SING sing, we already know
you might have been told this already since uploading but Brendon actually recorded this album to tape instead of digitally like previous albums/the normal process for artists. which means he kinda had to be careful of bad takes because one bad take and he’d have to re-record from the start and he even said that he liked the way it sounds because it’s more ‘raw vocals’ or something idk - which would explain the poor-ness of the production and how flat everything sounds
Reminder that in the space of a year Waterparks was able to write the entire album of "Friendly Reminder", scrap it, then release "Fandom". All in a quarter of the time it took this album to be made
At 7:44 Brendon is singing a cover of Big Shot by Billy Joel, and the "old guy" in the audience is Billy. So basically we're watching Brendon Urie butcher a Billy Joel song in front of Billy Joel. What is it with former emo singers and ruining Billy Joel songs???
The fact that this... product has a higher metascore than When The Pawn by Fiona Apple makes me want to lock myself in a nuclear bunker and eat the keys
I don’t think it’s that hot of a take now to say that Brendon Urie’s greatest contribution to the world of art in the last decade is the song he wrote for the SpongeBob musical.
@@david6321 I feel like this was a long time coming, he already had some weird allegations flying around a couple years ago, and it kinda seems like he just never figured out how to bounce back his public image.
This album has Brendon's worst vocals by far, and Sad Clown is probably his single worst vocal performance by a mile, he just can't hit those notes anymore but he keeps trying and it sounds awful
I have a feeling this is gonna be panic's last album which in my opinion is ok because Brendon is dragging the band's name through the mud. I still can't believe that this is the same person who sang in a fever you can't sweat out. Idk what happened to him after 2016 but death of a bachelor was their last good album (pray for the wicked was too poppy for my taste and mediocre imo)
yeah the older i get the less i tolerate mediocrity. im bored with the mundaneness of life and would like to be entertained, and i dont get that with mediocrity
I think it's very easy to define. Bad music takes risks, and sometimes it's so bad that actually good, thus it's entertaining, or funny, or guilty-pleasure'y. Mid music is just... there. And no one couldn't care less
Ima tell you soemthing I saw it live and it was amazing. Hes an amazing singer. And the band he brought out was more than I've ever heard from him. He had violin, trumpets, bass, electric guitar, drums... It was beautiful to hear live music again.
I saw it live and it was amazing tbh, the band was huge and there was a lot of energy. He really killed it singing. I can understand that as a recorded album it isn't as impressive, thouch
"Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks" was written by Ryan Ross 🥲 I also feel like the ppl saying this album "sounds like queen" haven't listened to anything other than Queen's top hits lmao. Most Queen songs have a different feel. Ex: Mother Love, My Melancholy Blues, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Nevermore, All Dead All Dead, etc. You could say that, sure, there's definitely parts that are similar, but overall it doesn't feel like the same vibe to me. Especially if you've actually truly listened to Queen.
it sounds like he's a really unconfident theater kid singing something from an "edgy enough that its cool but not that my mom thinks it's inappropriate for my age range' musical.
I remember liking P!ATD years ago and Brendon too mostly. They’ve had some good songs. I didn’t really realize that everyone was leaving because of Brendon and how much he ruined the band till these past couple of years and I can clearly see it now as he’s been trying to make his own music. Not surprised the way this album turned out. I remember his last album too. Decreasing from the last. It’s all over.
I have enjoyed panic over the years. I think Death of a Bachelor was the high. Then PFW came out and it turned me off. Then Viva Las Vengeance (the single) came out and I was excited. The other singles came out and I was concerned. I forgot the album came out. I finally heard it and... besides the opening song. It's mid at best. A 4 and that's only because the first song is that good. Otherwise its a 3. Disappointing to say the least
i was surprised the first was semi decent. i’m someone who hates panic for so many reasons (mainly it reminds me of this bitch friend i had), so the fact the first track had me mildly interested is impressive to me. but the rest of the album makes me wanna smash my phone
I was on UA-cam, watching some video while I was cooking, an ad comes on and I can’t skip because my hands are dirty. It’s some god awful 3 minute long song talking about sex in the middle of a break up. This has happened before, where I can’t skip and the ad is actually music, but usually it’s smaller unknown artists, so imagine my surprise hearing that nonsense on this album review.
Honestly, I think they were at their best when their titles were so long and weird that trying to look up the song with your memory would be an absolute nightmare
Conspiracy theory: Maybe, just MAYBE…Brendon made this album on purpose. Maybe the goal was for people to be so critical that he loses attention and goes off the grid for his retirement from music. Lol I’ve been a massive fan of Panic for years but I have to agree, this album is brutal.
i saw the VOD of this before it was claimed and i had a dream last night that the entire album except a few tracks were taken off of Spotify in an attempt to fix it and the label posted an apology on instagram or something
The "you're the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery" part reminds me of "my propeller won't spin and I can't get it started on my own, when are you arriving" from Arctic Monkeys😭😭😭
To be fair to Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys, he has insisted it isn't a euphemism. It's supposed to mean something else. Doesn't stop it from sounding like one, though
As a professional mixing and mastering engineer myself, I can honestly say this is a pretty badly mixed album. I even think I hear some clipping on the output. Not the good kind of clipping either.

Brendon was just burning me out with his notes. Trying to make every song this grand thing to showcase his high pitched vocal runs at every given chance. And he's been having trouble trying to sing these songs live lately.
i went to listen to the album bc i had to take my sibling to see him preform and i had to stop bc he sounded like he was straining his voice so badly it was uncomfortable to listen to
His live vocals are perfection
The good timeline is the one where Ryan and Jon never leave the band and the continue to experiment each album.

I feel like the theatrical/musical thing he thinks he’s pulling off here was done really well and with integrity on an album like folie à deux.
The thing I hate most is that during some of Brendon's livestreams, it was proven that he could still do good stuff. Some of those little snippets he revealed sounded better than anything this or "Pray For The Wicked". And yet, he gives us this hot garbage.
I hope the hate for this album gives him somewhat of a wake-up call, but he's probably so far up his own ass he won't care.

that’s somehow a worse comparison to brendan himself comparing panic! to the dead kennedys
for real! it's not even relevant to the themes of the song! if something about Maggie was doing an actual exploration of what appears to be a woman and her abusive boyfriend and it mentioned how she's sad/depressed and the songs goes like I know what he does/how he makes you feel, like you want to slit your wrists. sure it's dark doesn't fucking work with the chorus or music but it would be thematically relevant to include it.

So yeah, rest in peace, Panic! at the Disco

i dont think it flopped tbh its still good, to each their own
From all of the interviews he has done, it seems that he just wanted to write some stuff for fun based off his own musical preferences like 70s to 80s rock opera and Broadway music. Each album has a different sound and he does like experimenting so there will be albums some like and some dislike. Maybe his next album will be more to people's taste!

I love how just a few lines of him singing a guest vocal can lift and transform a whole song (stuff like Transit's All Your Heart for example).
Overrated? He has a 4 octave range lmao
as someone who enjoyed all the albums before this (even pftw to an extent) this album didn’t do it for me at all, i feel like only theatre kids would enjoy it, specifically the ones who always got to flex their vibrato and be the center of attention 🎃
One of my most hated things about singers is having unnecessary vibrato on almost every word or line they sing. Like, you don't have to show us you can SING sing, we already know
you might have been told this already since uploading but Brendon actually recorded this album to tape instead of digitally like previous albums/the normal process for artists. which means he kinda had to be careful of bad takes because one bad take and he’d have to re-record from the start and he even said that he liked the way it sounds because it’s more ‘raw vocals’ or something idk - which would explain the poor-ness of the production and how flat everything sounds
the cut to flaming lips really showed me the difference between soul in an instrument to something done just for the paycheck, fantastic example Brad.
Reminder that in the space of a year Waterparks was able to write the entire album of "Friendly Reminder", scrap it, then release "Fandom". All in a quarter of the time it took this album to be made

I think it's very easy to define. Bad music takes risks, and sometimes it's so bad that actually good, thus it's entertaining, or funny, or guilty-pleasure'y. Mid music is just... there. And no one couldn't care less
Say what you want about the album as a whole, It honestly seems like a fun one to perform live imo
Ima tell you soemthing I saw it live and it was amazing. Hes an amazing singer. And the band he brought out was more than I've ever heard from him. He had violin, trumpets, bass, electric guitar, drums... It was beautiful to hear live music again.
exactly. i think this album is meant for live performance rather than studio-recording listening
I just saw it performed last night and I wasn’t impressed. I loved all the other songs he played but this album was just NOT it
I saw it live and it was amazing tbh, the band was huge and there was a lot of energy. He really killed it singing. I can understand that as a recorded album it isn't as impressive, thouch
"Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks" was written by Ryan Ross 🥲
I also feel like the ppl saying this album "sounds like queen" haven't listened to anything other than Queen's top hits lmao.
If you told me that the vocals were recorded in a single day, I would believe that.
Hey brad, just wanted to say thank you for the love man, you’re the greatest youtuber ive watched.
Hope you’re doing better
At least a little bit after today
@@BradTasteInMusicOfficial im doing much better, legoshi helped my day feel better in discord, thanks to him as well.
High Hopes is possibly one of the most annoying songs ever created, how can it get worse than that?.........Ahh, that's how.
I will never tire of the Brad Demon coming to take souls.
I was such a huge panic fan some years ago, but now I can't stop feeling embarrassed
some years ago they made actually decent music
@@holysoup2954 yeah the first albums were great
This really does feel like the Queen album you ordered off Wish. Specifically, an off-brand version of A Night At The Opera.
it sounds like he's a really unconfident theater kid singing something from an "edgy enough that its cool but not that my mom thinks it's inappropriate for my age range' musical.
The album was so bad, their UA-cam comments were depressingly negative that I stopped reading a quarter way through because I felt bad for Brendon
Pretty sure he's a narcissist, maybe he could use some criticism.
@@kidamnesiak1 i mean... yeah. it doesn't take much listening to tell that this album is shit. he needs to understand why.
@@kidamnesiak1 pretty sure? You don't Know him
@@pyro3215 yas werq elia 😩😩 doing brandon hugbox theatercore urie proud
This album was enough to kill Panic for good lol
i was surprised the first was semi decent. i’m someone who hates panic for so many reasons (mainly it reminds me of this bitch friend i had), so the fact the first track had me mildly interested is impressive to me. but the rest of the album makes me wanna smash my phone
Mid life crisis: the album.
accurate
i saw the VOD of this before it was claimed and i had a dream last night that the entire album except a few tracks were taken off of Spotify in an attempt to fix it and the label posted an apology on instagram or something
Not surprised the quality dipped. He's big enough now to silo off anyone in his circle willing to tell him "No." That's always a bad sign
I was looking at the band’s nominations and they somehow won “NME Award for Worst Band (2007, 2008)”
LMAOOOOO
The "you're the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery" part reminds me of "my propeller won't spin and I can't get it started on my own, when are you arriving" from Arctic Monkeys😭😭😭
To be fair to Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys, he has insisted it isn't a euphemism. It's supposed to mean something else. Doesn't stop it from sounding like one, though
As a professional mixing and mastering engineer myself, I can honestly say this is a pretty badly mixed album. I even think I hear some clipping on the output. Not the good kind of clipping either.
Holy shit, I thought the TITLE track was bad, but the rest of the album?! How do you make something that bad on purpose?
its like being on broadway became his whole personality
saw the comment you hearted and i agree it very much does feel like hanging out with a friend
i’ve been coming back to your channel when im sad and need a safe space since 2018 i love your content and i hope you’re doing well right now brad
