There’s a limited amount of spots for goalies. Many of them are taken by young goalies that teams want to to invest in their development, hoping to develop into an NHL goalie. Some teams want to add an experienced goalie to help the young goalie along. There’s a lot of experienced goalies that have NHL experience that they can choose from. The problem with Kasimir is he is a tweener. Nobody looks at him as a goalie that they can develop into an NHL goalie and nobody looks at him as an NHL experienced goalie that will help the young goalie along. Yes in an ability standpoint he may be better than both but he just doesn’t fit what teams long term objectives are, which is to develop players to the NHL.

He was an excellent goalie at Minnesota Duluth, but he turned pro just as they were becoming a powerhouse in 2016.
