It's similar to the ballad "Once I had a Sweetheart" (Roud 170) that Joan Baez sang in the 'sixties. The theme is the same, and some of the words are the same, but the tune and rhythm are slower and more melancholy.

I love folk music like Michael Praetorius who did a folk tune, terpshichore which is 17th Century and well awesome to listen to.
