I'll add on with some pertinent information...
1. For bigger engines that need to be trimmed up, use a transom saver
2. Same motors use a steering stabilizer
Motors have to move with the boat & that's safe when as long as the motor is not moving independently of the boat.. Transom savers stop vertical bouncing independent of the boat & trailer. Steering stabilizers stop lateral movement independent of the boat & trailer as it bounces down the road
For bigger motors trimmed up withouut a transom saver all the highway bouncing is purely on the hydraulics & it beats the snot out of the motor like Glenn said.
Combined they sorta make the boat, trailer & motor a single unit or a single object that can move/vibrate/wiggle/etc. together as 1.
IMHO any video about how to tow a motor really should include both stabilizers in the conversation because there are more physics in play than trim or don't trim.
