Thanks for the races! What an incredible era it was! I was lucky enough to experience and know about these drivers and cars by the TOCA 1 and 2 games… Wish i could have seen those live :D
I know your comment is 3 years old, so I apologise for dredging this up, but Duke Video still sells the season review DVDs of this era. They're more than just highlights, they normally show all rounds in full, and normally contain 'extras' as well, like behind the scenes stuff.
@@theberengersniper I know your comment is 2 years old, but thanks for the tip! I enjoy physical media and will be sure to get some BTCC goodness and late 90’s/early 2000’s Le Mans action on the go
The reason for the Renault suspension being so good was that is wasn't within the rules. say no more.. I know cause I was there. These were the days when BTCC was as important to manufacturers as F1, consequently the budgets were enormous , if you were a fan you wouldn't ever see the amount of money or time that actually went into these cars .. I was amazed when I joined one of these teams how advanced and how much technology went into what appears to be something very similar that you can buy. but believe me it wasn't....Good days ..oh and the oil coming out of the Volvo,, it was designed to .I can honestly say that we were probably one of the only Teams that didn't Cheat or bend the rules and were successful. I will always be proud of us . Not Volvo
I used to watch btcc religiously during this era. It lost its magic in the 2000's and I gave up on it. This era, was the best in motorsport. I think every petrolhead would know who each driver was and their team. Typical British thinking, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory 🤦♂️
The sound of the Volvo 5cyl - amazing howl it has :D
Death metal
Thank you, this takes me back. I met Jason plato while he was doing a fith gear filming, I'd been watching him race for years, he's a legend
"Eeeee izz a craftie little bugger..."

MrJacksonBollock “not bad for an old bloke” 😂

Thank you to upload this. Really appreciate. This video remember the game TOCA 2... but i've never seen a real race until now!!!
This was just the best era for the btcc!
I know this is a late reply, this is one of the best eras of any form of Motorsport. It lasted the entire decade.
Great clips mate, it's great to see this in their entirety. It's a shame we can only by 'highlights 'DVDs these days.

What a race!! I really enjoyed that, so thanks for the upload(s)!
TOCA 2.Happy days. But where have all those lovely Lagunas gone? I never see any on the road. Forgotten car.
A cracking looking car. Just don't think they were particularly reliable or robust sadly
A Laguna estate was the staple for window cleaners up to about 4 years ago around here.
I jut love the cox/Watson commentary due
it's next level. constantly informative and some dry humour. makes current F1 commentary look terrible
This race is so raw it's amazing
Just a car on fire at 18:50. Not even that big of a deal in the context of BTCC. What an incredible era of racing!

Is Frank both of car 1 and 3 ?
