Great demos with explanations to match!
I always like working on drills and fundamentals, even if it doesn't seem directly related to racing. My coach used to say good skiers make good racers!
That´s very true!
Nice video! Good quality content in a short amount of time. Like
will definitely try the dolphin 🐬
Ski dancing! Fantastic
The Austrian isn’t one I have done but will try out, I have seen it on other videos. I can do the rest plus other short turn variations not shown here. They all help make one a better skier.
Mega video! Clean Skiing at its finest, thanks for the Tips and Info!
Ellmau is halt vom feinsten!
Haha true!
I will work on these tomorrow!
The Austrian - aka Tip and Tail
Great practice both for racers and Instructors
aka Swedish
Cool! Thank you!
Great video. However, I'm not a great fan of these variations. Almost entirely as I'm no good at them. For example the dolphin turn. Looks easy but there is something about it that doesn't fit my physiology or mentality or whatever. I just cant get off the ground like that. It has to do with momentum from one jump to the next. Right? Or what is the trick? But, inspired by this lesson I will go to the hill today and give them a shot. Thanks for pushing me :) (BTW, being a coach is much easier than being the student)
Haha thank you!
True, it´s all about momentum with these variations, therefore it´s much easier if you try it on responsive (but not icy) snow, also make sure you ve got your raceboots ready.
Side note: I´ve praciticed these literally for years to get them right..
And yess i fully agree that it´s quite difficult to be a student of which i was painfully reminded the last two skiing days ;)
Try cross country skiing. Classic style. To learn completely independent left-right balance.
These variations are an exam for the highest Swiss level. You need to be able to enchain four out of the five. 1st flying step turn, 2nd norwegian turn, 3th ollie or dolphin, 4th are both swedish turns. I only miss the charlston turn on your inside ski while lifting the outside, which is a variation short turn as well. The one ski skiing is not considered as a variation of the short turns. There are variations of carving turns as well like the crab walk, crawl, one handed or two handed body carv.. But nice skiing and nice video.

Ohh nice, the charlston looks cool!
Thanks for that, i ll add it to my repertoire.
The short turn variation you call Austrian, its often called Tip and Tail
"Попрыгунья-стрекоза лето красное пропела, оглянуться не успела, как зима катит в глаза".
are you guys also on Facebook?
@joroen van de bovenkamp
Nope, why do you ask?
@@beattheclock7509 I have a question about the short turns but I already sended an email. 😃
I hate to say this but these short turns are more like Z turns than quality rounded C shaped turns. There is a lot of putting on the brakes for every turn, in my estimation. I'm not a fan of these drills either as I don't believe they link one's ability to development of proper C shaped turns.
