From someone who was in your shoes, the best thing you can do is make phenomenal music, put it on Soundcloud, and play gigs. If your music is good enough, it will get noticed.
This is a good example that you can actually make awesome/artistic/deep music while being commercial and successful , its really a shame a minority of most known artists nowadays try to pursuit something deeper than their own pockets
