- Mr. Ollan Christopher Bell has been in the entertainment business since 1961 and has been in the business for more than 40 years.
As most of the African American artists his singing background comes from the church and his mother's teachings who was a professional singer. At the age of 10 he started playing the bass guitar and at the age of 12 he made his first vocal solo.
During the 1970´s he performed and shard stage with artist such as Earth Wind and Fire, The Temptations, Kool and the Gang, The Isely Brothers, his former producer Curtis Mayfield among others. With more than 200 songs composed and distributed in various albums throughout the world he also has trained and produced singers from Paris Japan England and the US.
In 1987 he is married to none other than John Lee Hooker's Daughter Zakiya Hooker (also a performing artist available for hiring) producing all of her albums and Administering the BWTH (Boogie with the Hook) recording studio to which he is Vice President of and also The John Lee Hooker Foundation. Foundation dedicated to the musical education, development and health of children and new artists.
In the late 90' he became the right hand man, and helped produce projects with the legendary, grammy winning, John Lee Hooker.
Nowadays he finds himself touring around the world specially in places like Argentina South America where he has become a well recognized artist. At the same time he has also ventured into Asia in countries like Thailand with shows in Bangkok and co producing Blues festivals in the Island of Koh Samui together with the Cocoblues Company. He is also giving clinics for singers and talks on the history of Afro American music.

I enjoyed watching the Midnight Special on Friday nights years ago in the early 70's.
The audience was trippin'! Sitting there not even bobbin' their heads. This performance was perfect!
Back in the day they had to perform for white people, that did'nt have any rhythm are soul, that's what I hate about the live performances for our good ole legendary soul steppers.

The first time I heard this jam it was early winter 1974 I was 15yrs young and was in the 9th grade, the final year at McClure Jr Hi etc..... Where did all the time go???
This is when music was music, not the RAP garbage we hear in the Black community. I remember watching the Midnight Special on Friday nights back in the early 70's. Happy 50th 1973 Anniversary Classes of Durham High School & Hillside High School - Durham, North Carolina. I am listening to this song, July 4th, 2023.

@harolddottin10 My dad and his brothers were tall, haha. I suspect their height influenced my attraction to tall men. However, there's nothing wrong with men who are under six feet. My mom's brother was rather short, but he was a good man. It's also sad to learn that the singer threw his life away.
@@sk8queen Yes, and it was confirmed weekly on Soul Train. The youth were slim and in good physical condition, doing splits and all manner of hijinks.
