"Automatic remover of bad things"
i need that in my life.
It would be great to see how you generate, arrange and record drums
Really appreciate what you said in the beginning of the video about not pretending to be an expert. It just stands in the way of things and doesn't help anyone if you do. I actually stopped giving myself any labels and try to let things speak for themself. One time I was asked by a self claimed grammy nominated producer on how to start making music and which gear to buy...
Thanks for saying this. It’s kind of an unwritten rule for becoming a big UA-camr to pretend you’re an expert even if you’re not. I don’t like that.
Dude, that was great!! You have the perception of a guitarist, not a producer, and that's fine. And you did a lot! Great mix, great tune and how most of us, people that play any instrument and have a little knowledge on some kind of DAW will do. Not crowding your tracks with auxiliary tracks, tons of plug ins and stuff. We like it raw, not over produced. I'm gonna say that the cassette thing is a producer stuff. haha! Thanks a lot!
Thanks dude!
One of the most helpful videos for producing guitars on your own. Even though you don’t seem to like it: I would love a little tutorial on midi drums :)
Thanks! Haha, we’ll see. There’s people out there way better at it than me.
@@LivingroomGearDemos I think that's a feature. You'd be way better at explaining it to beginners.
Great video! Really nice that you're this transparent with what you know and don't know. More people should do that!
Thanks Niklas!
Dude, you are THE MAN for making this video. I've been wondering for a long time how you get a lot of your guitar sounds! Thanks a ton!
Thanks man!
Man that sooth is automatic remover of bad things lol I am dying of laughter...
haha. Need to do a follow up on that. I use Soothe all the time, but still can't explain how it works
@@LivingroomGearDemos haha np .. thats a resonance suppresser bro
I’ve discovered your channel a few days ago (because of qotsa stuff) and I am hooked!!!
Great content!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸🎸
Thanks man! And welcome!
Such a cool riff! I could imagine Layne Staley singing over that. Thanks for these tips, coming just in time for recording a cover with friends :)
Thanks! And good luck, Alex!
I've been asking for this video ages ago. Thank you!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Digging your style ... heard something you were doing on another vid that reminded me of The Pixies ... so many metalheads with these recording tutorials on youtube who all sound so mechanical and processed just regurgitating the same formulas. This is a nice change from all that... definitely following your work. Good stuff .. keep it up
thanks man!
Super helpful. Love seeing your process, I learned some new stuff (plug-ins) + reinforced and affirmed other stuff I’m doing (panning and double tracking). Sounds great.
Great to hear!
Great video Eirik...man that Dirty Shirley sounds so good!!
Thanks! It does indeed!
Thanks for making the video. Could you make another one where you talk about dialing in the amp etc.? That would be awesome. Greetings from Germany!
Yup, might do that ;)
Great stuff, can you tell us more about the Two Notes settings please. Oh and you look tired, new dad tired...It gets better. Promise!
Haha I’m a bit tired, you’re right :) Will talk about the settings in a different video for sure.
Fuck yes, finally!!!
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Sounds like it could be a new Stp song..haha. Love it. Killer guitar tones and production on that!
haha, thanks!
Awesome video! I love seeing other people's work flow.
I'm not sure if Logic has this function, but something to maintain clarity when using time based effects (reverb, delay and [sometimes] chorus) is running them parallel by using a send and a return track as opposed to using them as inserts directly on the channel. This way instead of using a dry/wet mix knob you crank that to 100% wet on a separate track and use the send fader to dial in how much reverb you want on guitars. Some hardware gear that I've used as well as Ableton and Pro Tools have this function and I've always found that it allows for a lot more clarity and definition in your source audio.
Yup! I often do this. Didn’t find it necessary here though. Except for the drums that I parallel compressed through an aux track. Same thing.
Living Room Gear Demos parallel compression does absolute wonders 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for the information, well done and explained
Thanks for checking out!
Really awesome riff! Might need to learn it :)
This was amazing. More please!!!
Thanks!
thank you. really. awesome and inspiring!
Glad you enjoyed it!
so good... writing it down "automatic remover of bad things". Nailed it! Super cool song btw! Yeah! - !m/
Haha thanks! It takes care of harshness. Very good plugin
What’s the real name of that plug in?
Great content! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks for watching!
I use the CLA3A as well. Depending on the vibe sometimes I put a LA2A limiter behind it just to make stable and punchy, just a little bit.
Thanks will try!
@@LivingroomGearDemos Thats a good trick of stacking compression. Most times though its cool to use a fast comp first like a 1176 or distressor then an optical one. each one only just taking off a little bit. Great technique for vocals too :)
it sounds amazing, however I see you don’t gain stage your project. I do and sometimes I wonder wether I shouldn’t bother. Also on your more recent video about mixing rock guitars you have a totally different plugin order on your guitar tracks: CLA-3A, then EQ Then Soothe, why is that? did you come up with a better way of processing guitars?
Wow. Cool
I notice your levels are really high. Do you ever run into issues of clipping? I've been trying to aim for 15 db
I’m using good gear but my recordings always sound rlly cheap, like almost sounds like it’s just a DI, any tips?
It depends what you use. I’d suggest using either a usb mixer or a usb interface/soundcard. You won’t be able to hear your guitar (unless you run an output out of the mixer/interface into your amp). You will get a much better sound from it though.

Great video. It was really good to watch your workflow… How do you feel about the Fluid monitors vs your bigger speakers? I'm trying to decide which monitors to buy and, for now, the choice would be between Yamaha HS5 vs Fluid F4 or F5 monitors. My room is untreated and small… Thanks!
I like the F4 monitors really good. My bigger Dynaudio LYD7 are better monitors, but still the F4's are good for what I use them for.
Living Room Gear Demos Thanks!
the tape one is similar to Izotope Vinyl, which is free
yeah, I use that one too. Love it!
Where do you get those guitar pluggins of effects?? Awesome video!
Waves and Wavesfactory ;)
Hei! Takk for melding. Den er dual mono, så da er vel begge sidene prossesert?
Enig med det andre, takk for tips! ✌🏻
Living Room Gear Demos Ja, det har du jaggu rett i hehe
Hey Eirik, are those plugins part of Logic Pro?
Hi! EQ plugin and multipressor, yes. Not the other ones. Compressor, tape machine and limiter from Waves. Cassette plugin from Wavesfactory. Did I forget some?
What interface are you using?
He mentions it in the video, you can go back and find it
@@JohannesLabusch Still wouldn't hurt you to tell him would it? :)
