I got so excited when I saw the thumbnail. Opals are my favorite gemstone, especially darker opals. [my engagement ring has a gorgeous black opal featured instead of any diamonds] Thanks for the awesome vid!

I would love to see a piece of rough gemstone and then what it transforms into. It fascinates me how someone can see the potential of a rock that to the untrained eye looks like it’s just another rock but could be worth thousands.

Spirals andSpice ITS NOT A REAL OPAL I KNOW BECAUSE IM A GEM EXPERT AND THATS A BIG PEICE OF PLASTIC AND OPAL IS MY BIRTHSTONE AND I KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AND 38,000 karats of Opal will cost 10,000,000,000$ even for 1,000 karats of Opal IT COSTS 100,000$

It's matrix opal, so not that rare and not that expensive. In fact I would say that is fairly poor quality opal lucky to bring $5 a carat. Matrix opal is almost always treated, usually they use sugar and sulfuric acid to darken the surface stone.

Next time you unbox a gemstone, you should get a rough and cut version. It’s so cool seeing how one transforms into the other. I’m pretty sure you’ve done that a lot but.... I want mooooore! ^w^

I would love to see videos on birthstones maybe one every month featuring that month's birth stone. Im not sure about others but i think it would be nice to learn more about birthstones in an entertaining way. 😃

I like that idea, although I know she has done amethyst already. I would like to see a big blue zirconia.

Awesome! The piece now is easily the best i have seen i actually was gonna request a video on Opals, cuz i love them, but you did it before I asked. And BOI was it big!!! But yeah, i do miss them 17000 cts. Love the videos, and keep uploading such awesome videos. ✌✌👌 One suggestion. In close up shots, give actual close up view. In the video before this, the editing and other things made close up shots almost pointless.

Oof, what a beautiful Opal. Those little splashes of color all across the front really add to its intricate design on the black background, its incredibly symbolic and so big and bold too, obviously very large yet surprisingly only about 16 lbs. What a great piece!!

Aw, wish we'd seen the butterfly play-of-color in a close-up.
Have you done a sunstone/moonstone vid? Be interesting to hear the nomenclature derivation, and also to know whether any sun/moon pieces have been inspired by this gemstone combo.

Takes alot of bravery to handle that stone. I grew up with the whole you break it, you buy it mentality. So I would be freaking out if I had to touch it.

I'm confused, how can the carvings have been done for the emperor of China if it was mined in the 1970s when the throne was abdicated in 1912 due to the Xinhai revolution?
