Wow. Never heard this recording. In fact, I have heard a number of pianists perform this (one of my favorite) concerto. For some reason or other I never heard Ms. Argerich perform it. I have certainly missed out on a lot. Never heard such crispness and detail as she demonstrated in the first movement. Just great. Didn't over-pedal as some do - defined the score superbly - every note clear and bright. The second movement was even greater. Started out with a sort of lilting musical approach, journeying then into a really powerful, dramatic last third of the movement. Impressive! Of course she and the orchestra really did let loose in the ultra-dramatic final movement - with speed and power - a marvelous confluence of solo and orchestra. Never heard anyone play this with such clear and dynamic definition. Well, she is amongst the greatest - what else should I expect???

Brilliant performance of a brilliant youthful concerto. Tempos are perfect and recording is very good.

Amazing ! I didn't know she recorded this concerto as well ! I still wonder why she didn't add the second piano concerto to her repertoire… Would've loved to hear her play that ! Or Bartok's second.

Huh, That's funny. I like how Martha Tries to Speed up the Orchestra right at the start. In a different video you can hear her trying to slow down the orchestra as its tempo was to fast.
She knows exactly what she wants.

Rostropovich conducting too. Quite different to the Dutoit release that I'm used to.

Not really the biggest argerich fan. I've always considered her harsh and poundy. But the section from 8:00-10:00...i think her interpretation is the best I've heard

Really? I find her quite the opposite. Her lyricism and spontaneity drive me crazy in a good way. Granted, she has a demonic, percussive element (a la Horowitz), but also a sweetness and humor that is unparalleled. She really is a bridge from the past to the present day pianist.
