That would be in error. It's not the power that does the corrupting, you know. The refusal to accept the responsibilities that come with it in favor of the perks, the _love_ of using power and knowing no one can stop you from doing what you want with it... _that_ is what does the corrupting. The darkness of the human soul that exists beside the light our potential. It's all too easy to lose one's self in that abyss.
@@nightrunnerxm393. It’s not a darkness really, look to nature to come to terms woth what you call darkness of a soul. Animals do such terrible things that the empathy in us causes us to judge their natural actions. We need/needed that darkness in ourselves as a species or we wouldn’t have survived all the predators eating us and this planet trying to kill us at every turn!
@ That is going deeper than the surface meaning. You are correct if you meant to say that the superficial is insufficient. The term corruption is, as suggested, more complex and deeper than cops or politicians accepting bribes. Had I given students a higher grade than deserved because I liked them or they were apple polishers, or if I gave students who were grumpy and unlikable a lower grade than deserved, that would be corruption at a very basic level. As a matter of fact I was considered very hard nosed about grading, totally opposed to "social promotion" and the like, but I did believe in giving students a chance to improve. I was always aware of the dangerous possibility of corruption in my field.
In a way, she did. She explained that the Augment (power) would eventually take over and do unspeakable things, using the person who's augmented, without their control or input. At that point, the power has absolute control and corrupts the augmented absolutely.
I would hope a setting could be made. Growing up you got 40% mental assistance, 30% physical after you learned self control well. After graduation some testing then 50%. But higher only if a threat.
just saying, after this shite, necessary as it may be, I think I would refuse to go to school or anywhere really until I was immune to overrides. This is an important lesson but the thing that would really get me is that I have to remain vulnerable to that for several more years. The possibility of losing control of myself would probably scare me more than the finger severing. I did it once as a teenager, not to augs obviously, but my own emotion, hormones, and rage. Looking back, that was the scariest moment of my life, and there were a couple times I came close to dying.
Good story. I disagree with the premise. Story is acting as if the human and augmentation are seperate. But if they were intergrated when they were infants both parts would grow and mesh into each other. By the time you got to the point of school it would be just one person. Our kid in the begining wouldnt think "i have a computer in my brain to do it for me" he would just naturally have those abilities as part of himself.
not necessarily, while you would be one person, that doesn't mean only one psyche. think about how humans have a subconscious, that isn't fully merged with our conscious. Similarly, in certain situations, it is possible for the subconscious to "take over", the most common is in a trance like state.

Brutal, but probably effective in most cases. Grim. Many thanks, Agro.
Great story; Excellent narration! "With great power comes great responsibility!"
Lessons learned from pain tend to be the ones that we remember the most.
@@jeremydanchuk1897 ads I’ve always said, that single candle at a childs first birthday is there to teach about fire!
That was both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Here's hoping it never has to come to that.
Who in the hell wrote that absolutely freaky, mind fecking, brilliance? 👍
Every video tells you who the author is right at the start, first the title and then who wrote it.
A very powerful story. As someone who teaches, I fear this story will be with me the rest of my life. Like the Augment
Absolutely brutal, but in a good way. Thanks.
Knowledge is power, true enough, but the lesson should continue with, "power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

That’s like saying practice makes perfect. No, no it definitely doesn’t. Only perfect practice makes perfect. Otherwise you’re doing it wrong.

Wow, great story. Bravo to AGRO and Destroy. Thanks
very dark and painful to listen to.
Hopefully this is one future we do not have to do.
Damn onion ninjas
Hard lesson learned, never forgotten.
Brutal 😢😢
Now this is a good story.
Such a sad story but also such a good one.
that was great!

dark, dystopian.
that is a DARK Universe!!! 😢
Pretty grimdark.
We need better Augs.
Here's hoping we never truly need Augs as in the story.
Yeah this seems like a pretty poor design really

Unfortunately for you, the overrides would eventually be used to force you to go to school.

You have very strange ideas about when trigger warnings are needed. Hope it means you stop doing them.
