Fun fact: Despite the fact people say he hates Goku due to the crying he actually doesn’t, in the Japanese Dub of the Z Broly movie Paragus explained that Broly actually sensed Goku’s power when he first arrived on the trap planet/New Planet Vegeta (Specifically in the scene where they were sizing each other up and everything faded to black except for them and their auras.) and that caused his saiyan instincts to go out of control which made him see Goku as a powerful opponent he wanted to fight and kill, the crying had nothing to do with it. He says quote, “Could it be Kakarrot? Does this mean that Broly’s instincts as a saiyan have been awakened by Kakarrots power, and he is starting to overcome my mind control?” Also in the JP dub he only knows Goku’s saiyan name because Vegeta said it right in front of Broly. Broly also only starts remembering Goku right when he is defeated. Also regarding Second Coming and Broly waking up to crying: It’s pretty obvious that Broly only remembered Goku right when he was defeated, since the crying scene appears a second time right before he is defeated where he yells out Goku’s saiyan name louder than he did before. And in the second movie it’s pretty obvious that a mix between the final blow from the first movie, being frozen, and being beaten left Broly in a mentally horrible state. Goten’s crying definitely reminded him of Goku’s crying, and he was definitely pissed about losing to Goku, especially after doing all of that trash talk. @@tristysstuff6664 no he definetly lost his mind in the second movie and spoke at the end but people somehow forgot the first move was a thing and decided the second one was broly
@Maskedkira156 I can see that, but there are other ways to show someone going insane. It seems a bit of lazy decision to keep a lot of his Broly qualities and just have him scream Kakarot to show "change in character"
5:20 If you go back to the scene where Goku, Gohan, Trunks, and piccolo were about to jump broly, He mentions that Goku is “a waste of saiyan blood” and never called him kakarot until the second movie
@thedrive600 I think he called him Kakarot a few times while in LSSJ during the first movie if I'm not mistaken. Unless you're saying he stopped calling him Kakarot after they tried jumping him.
Nah it makes sense how he lost. Goku hit a strong pressure point leading to Broly being Destroyed, Remember Brolys Power is constantly overflowing so that powered punch in a single Pressure point full of energy + Overflowing power = BOOM
It never made sense to me how the brainless version of Broly from the much worse movie was the one that everyone remembered. And then I realized that most of the media he appears in outside of the movies uses his Second Coming characterization.
apparently it wasn't so much the crying but the will to get stronger that triggered broly as infant's broly was insanely strong but very timid, kakarot was very weak but had the strong desire to get stronger that's what triggered broly to go after goku so much
Actually there is a fourth (Z) Broly film. Of a sort, it was a Real 4D film made for a Japan Universal ride. In it he gets revived via the Dragonballs, has a new form with God Broly, then fights SSB Vegeta & SSB Goku. Then Goku later has to break the fourth wall to fuse WITH THE AUDIENCE watching, to become God Fusion Goku to defeat him. I am not joking.
You know what makes Broly stupid? He made a Goku. For being a baby, even tho he shouldn't even know this man's name as a baby. But not mad at Vegeta for what King Vegeta did.
Actually Broly didn't know Goku was the cryer, only after Goku sent all the energy he gather into the punch, he actually associate the crying to every bad thing that happened to him as a baby so stabbing and the planet being destroyed, and he hate everybody equally like his father who mind controlled him, Goku for not submitting to him and his power, and those aliens for seeing them so pitiful that he destroyed there planet and in his eyes weakling don't deserve a planet
@blackops7809 It's like I can see what you're saying, and I think it's plausible, but when I watch the movie, it just feels like the writers just had different intentions for Broly. Like he was just supposed to be an unstoppable monster with some depth, but not much at all. Like sure we can say that Broly hates the characters for the reasons you stated, but we've also just seen Broly being evil for the sake of being evil.
@@olamasama9243 that actually the point of z Broly to be an unredeemable monster with some depth to him, his hatred is a by product of people denying him of his destiny
While Second Coming wasn't as good as the first Broly movie, I still thought it was an alright movie. What really helped it for me was the Family Kamehameha at the end. I thought it was a better way to kill Broly than Goku absorbing energy from others and one-shotting him. Broly gets overpowered by a Family Kamehameha and blasted into the sun and you see his heart explode with green blood was a cool ending!
Family Kamehameha does make a lot more sense to defeat Broly, so that's actually very fair. I never felt like the Family Kamehameha was BS because it does make a good amount of sense
Lots of people asked Koyama and other producers/directors of the film about Z Broly. 1: Z Broly came back cause they couldn't find anyone stronger. Broly was the Legendary Super Saiyan, his whole "thing" is to be the strongest saiyan, thus they felt it was underwhelming for him to have only 1 appearance and be done. Koyama and Morshita, 2 producers of the film do say this. Also another director Yamaguchi does say Broly is the strongest saiyan but compared to Goku/Vegeta who fight for love he would never succeed. (More power of friendship nonsense) 2: A person on twitter asked Koyama "Can Broly destroy the universe in 1 blow", Koyama replied "Even if he could Goku will stop him". However, this is the same guy who said Goku wouldn't beat Broly 1 on 1 with ordinary methods. Point is, it doesn't matter how strong Broly is, his biggest enemy isn't Goku, but the fact his a shonen villain in a shonen series that is only giving him 50-70 minutes of screen time and cya off to the next. Goku has to win, regardless of how he does it 3: Did Broly hate Goku cause he cried? Koyama does talk about this, so the reason he hates Goku is cause Goku presence was superior to his own at birth (Movie does say that Goku is making Broly cry, or to be precise a power level of 2 is making a power level of 10K cry), which Broly doesn't like and resents Goku for. Koyama also mentions that Broly associates Goku presence with the horrific things that did happen in the film but the film doesn't really link the 2 together. Though to be fair the Movie probably didn't gave time since the movie itself is rather long for DBZ Movie standards. However the sub says that Broly instincts as a saiyan is being awakened by Goku power. Saiyans based a lot of things on a baby power level and there destiny, I guess Broly takes the whole losing thing way too seriously even if it is at birth 4: Koyama acknowledges that Bio Broly ruined Broly, and doesn't even like to address it. He also says that the Broly films are a different dimension from the Janemba film. 5: Broly didn't talk in Movie 10 cause Koyama wanted to give him more of a threatening and scary feel to the character. People did ask him why he didn't talk and this was the reason they wrote him that way in Movie 10 Movie 10 and 11 were honestly huge mistakes. Broly never shouldve lost, it was a non-canon film so who cares if he had won. It wouldn't have created M10 and M11 and ruined Broly if they didn't have an obsession with making Goku to hero
The fact that when he was naming peoples favorite characters, bro did not even MENTION the rest of the z fighters, that’s how bad they be getting done by the story
Goes to show why maybe making someone way too strong kinda screws it all up. I think a cool solution could have been to somehow lure Broly either into a star or into the core of a planet to beat him, and then their strongest move just pushes him into the star/core. Couldve been super cool to see, like maybe Goku has to instant transmission, grab spacesuits from Bulma then chuck them at everybody so they can all fly into space to get from Broly while hes still chasing them, and perhaps for Broly his moment of weakness is his pride like every Saiyan, and so he gets cocky and lets them try, like Vegeta giving Cell Android 18, or Gohan messing with Perfect Cell, or GOKU messing with Frieza. They all do it, Broly should totally have hubris bite him in the ass too.
Yea the comet kind of felt useless. The comet was the reason why the planet was being destroyed, but why not just let it be Broly that has the planet literally crumbling by the second. Feels like it could've been handled a lot better like you said
@@olamasama9243 yea, like that part of destroying a whole galaxy automatically meant I was thinking like "so he can blow up trillions of stars at once but not one single goku?" Although thats something I like about Super Broly. I feel like itd be a cool idea if he was TOO strong, like hes so powerful he cant control it (maybe he has some destroyer ki stuck into him or something if this was super) and so the way to defeat him is make him overload the power he has. That'd be cool, so the punch by Goku would actually blow a hole in his body, releasing all the ki. That could be cool!
Bio broly is really hard to rewatch seeing my man’s broly being covered in dirty goo. Wasn’t as threading like the first 2 films. Also I hated how he was a lad research experiment. I loved it when nobody but the Z fighters knew who he is. The mystery behind him made it more fire 🔥
I watched the first film a few years back with my brother. It was alright. Some good action scenes, primarily the section where Broly is giving everyone the beatdown but overall the story sucks and there are so many things that don't make sense. It's really painful to watch the whole thing. I'm probably spoiled due to having watched Super: Broly, but I cannot fathom why some people say that the original was better. I can understand nostalgia playing a role, but the newer film was incredible.
"The story sucks?" "There are so many things that don't make sense?" You just described DBS Broly movie! People don't like the original Broly movie better because of nostalgia. We like it because it has a lot more going for it than the new one. And yeah sure it does have its probably but DBS Broly was just a copy of the original but made with lazy and weak storytelling. If anything the only thing that probably anyone can say for certain is the animation is (subjectively) better.
@@truthspreader1996 How is the Galaxy gone when the story takes place in that same galaxy? Why is everyone terrified of a meteor? Litreally makes the characters seem so weak. Why is Vegeta a pathetic wimp the whole movie? It's out of character for him. He constantly takes on characters massively out of his league: Ginyu Force, Frieza, 18, Cell, Buu etc. Why does Broly die to a single punch? It completely nullifies all the hype around him. How does Goku get that much of a boost, when everyone is practically out of Ki? OG Broly is just a one-note psycho. His personality is bland outside of the "beatdown" scene. Which is actually awesome. But comparing him to the canon villains, he lacks defining characteristics. He isn't even really a Berserker like Super Broly. How does he fly through and breathe in space? Blatantly goes against the manga. He's also a baby yet understands how to perfectly use Ki, that his father needs to be protected from the vacuum, find a suitable place to live, etc. Magically survives being killed by King Vegeta, how is a Saiyan who genocides planets unable to kill a baby lol? He has no wounds after being stabbed. Paragus also just magically survived. Just makes King Vegeta look incompetent. He doesn't hate Vegeta despite him looking like his father and being behind his past torment. Just hates Goku because reasons lol. There are a lot more weird things in the film, but it's been a while since I watched it and I am massively disinterested in rewatching it. I think Z Broly has an incredible design, that one really awesome fight scene, some great Ki attacks, etc. but outside of that his motivations don't make much sense, his level of power is inconsistent (can beat a bunch of Super Saiyans, but a meteor is a problem), he just suddenly falls over, only gets worse with each movie, etc. This may be subjective, but the film itself is a real slog to get through, outside of a few good moments nothing of significance happens for a large portion of the film. I can understand not enjoying that Super Broly is a very different character, but what was the "lot more going on?" and examples of poor/lazy writing? Because ironically those are the things I'd say about the Z version. The Super movie definitely owes a ton to the inspiration from the OG film/character. I think the idea of Z Broly is better than his execution. He is iconic for a reason, but I was disappointed in the movie itself after all the hype.
@@JonaD757 -Mistranslation -sayains cant breath in space and at that point its unknown if they can survive being offed by an exploding planet -this vegeta is the prideful vegeta who still believes in sayain history. It’s perfectly in character for him to be scared when he not only meets the legend he was told to as a kid, but experience an immense power gap that nothing he did would ever close (besides he cried when he couldn’t do anything to frieza) -he didnt die by the punch considering second coming and even if u excluded the movie he was done in by his own ki, hence y his body glowed green before exploding meaning his ki was at his body’s limit -paragus explains while planet vegeta was being destroyed broly’s latent potential awakened, allowing him to subconsciously form an energy barrier that kept him and paragus safe -the punch was said to be a x1000 amp of all their ki combined giving goku a small window to attack -animation issue or the wound healed considering sayain biology -goku at the time of the movie was stronger than vegeta and in the stand off between he and broly u could see both of them feeling each other off as being strong. Even then considering vegeta’s performance in that movie, it wouldn’t make sense for broly to even fight him over goku and company who kept getting back up
In Broly Second Coming he did spend most the movie saying “Kakarot”, but when he was fighting Gohan he did say “Not until you lie dead at my feet” which was cold af
I guess, but also no. Like watching that film even under the lense of someone's head being messed up still doesn't help the fact that his character turned to trash. If they were actually aiming for that, they should've leaned into a lot more
The one thing I want to take This scene is the fact that Goku twenty three made a theory Is that the reason brawley Is goku is Because he saw The future of a super saying that Looks Like goku destroying him So this is essentially a self fulfilling prophecy But anyway that's just a theory
@@Deaddok The movie doesn't take place in the South Galaxy, the whole point was that after he destroyed the South he was coming to where they lived, the North!
They essentially made broly 4 into fusion reborn. Evil powerful spirit in hell while Goku and Pikkon are the elite other world fighters trying to defeat it. Thank god we didn’t get Broly 4
I kind of like the Broly flanderization in the second movie. He’s simplified to the point of becoming like a force of nature. Also the visual choices in second coming are way better. Yellow hair cooks.
its funny how Z broly went geuinely awesome to "I GET ANGRY AT GOKU" for the rest of the movies his introduced in Z and just only screams "KAKAROTT!!!"
The second movie was not that bad and neither was the ending of the first movie, Broly's power was always going to destroy everything including himself, had he not been controlled, and we See the results of that, Broly is straight up breathing heavy because his power is becoming too much for himself, What goku punched was the place he was stabbed at and his rising power completely spilling out destroying himself. The second movie, broly has completely lost his damn mind, the only thing left is the worst moment of his life which is getting stabbed, now he's another Kid buu. The action was good and the ending was nice. Getting pissed on was disrespectful though.
If the destruction at the end of the first movie was from Broly and not the comet, then it'd make more sense. We also don't really have an indication that Broly was going to destroy everything including himself, he destroyed some buildings when his power started overflowing. And in my own opinion, the punch is something I can't accept as "making sense". None of it's explained and when watching it in real time, just looks like something random to end the movie. But I respect your points for sure and see where you're coming from.
6:35 Did you miss the part where Goku got the combined Ki of 4 other Super Saiyan lvl characters stacked on top of his own? Just getting the Ki of Gohan would have made him comparable to SS2 Gohan. With the others he’s approaching the power of an SS3.
Let's just ballpark and say that all the Z Fighters were around the same strength (SSJ Grade 1 Vegeta level post Hyperbolic Time Chamber). If we multiply Goku's power by 4 times that, do we really think that it's enough to surpass Broly? From the way I view it, I think that the beatdown Broly was giving the Z Fighters was more than 4 times difference in strength. And plus, SSJ2 Gohan was still getting bodied in Second Coming. Just my thoughts though. Respect you for your giving your own thoughts and opinions
@ SS2 is only twice the power as SS1 and in the Bojack movie that was the difference between Gohan struggling while fighting Bojack and his henchmen and Gohan easily 1 shotting all of them. SS1 Goku being 4x stronger would make him easily be able to throw hands with Broly.
For those who didn't notice this The real reason broly hates Goku isn't simply because of the crying, but the crying is a reminder of the worst day of his life: An attempt on his life and the destruction of planet Vegeta.
Not gonna lie I luv the Broly duology and bio Broly as much as wrong with that movie has the next generation stepping up along with Krillin and the Bae #18/Lazuli being support so yeah Broly was written Mid at best but still cemented a legacy that had him gain an Alternate Canonical Counterpart in Broly(Super)
Honestly I have Bio Broly over Broly second coming because atleast the action is better and I can actually take Goten and Trunks seriously in that movie
Lowkey...I kind of agree on you with that. It's cause I can turn off my brain with Bio Broly because it's clear that it's kind of just them giving Goten and trunks more screen time. But Second Coming Broly is actually supposed to be semi serious, with what feels like worse fight scenes
Hold on now they both still work great super broly is more developed as a character in trying to become something more than just his monsterous self z toyotaro trying to give him some character development here's the thing super broly is still a crash out you just have to make him mad enough to reach that point of power
Z Broly Master Race here. He is one of the few characters who's power makes actual sense. After Frieza's defeat, all new enemies' powers were really hard to take serious as Frieza was a villain with power enough to blow up planets casually and made Gods shit their pants. Broly and Goku also had a nice parallel with the show implying they are technically both the Legendary Super Saiyan. Goku having the heart and potential of the LSSJ and Broly having the power. That is why his defeat was kinda satisfying because Goku had people that support him and Broly had nobody since he used his power for amusement. I like how he mentally tortures everyone. He knows body can do shit to him. Only Goku is trying to really stand up to him which goes under Broly's skin. Super Broly felt kinda like a soyboi saiyan like those from U6. His power made no sense. The continuation of Super doesn't have the legend like in Z. Goku and Vegeta had power jumps that made it really hard to take seriously and generally I felt like Broly made Goku and Vegeta look weak compared to the Z counterpart who looked strong. Z Broly destroyed an entire galaxy at the start of the movie. Super Broly has been fighting bugs and crabs all his life and somehow can jump from fodder level to Gogeta's Super Saiyan Blue.
Haven't watched the video but I'm gonna assume he doesn't talk about it. The series glazes him. His creator has stated that he was the strongest person in the series and Golu could never beat him in a fair fight(post BoG) and said that he expected him to bome back for a "BoG 2." He's got a new form in some sort of amusement park ride(don't remember the exact details). They brought him back 2 times besides the other Z movies, the ride I talked about, DBS and in SDBH. Kale and Cumber(he's practically just Broly).
I dont think that Broly was that good of a villain to begin. Dude was created for a filler movie of a classic battle shounen after all. He is a good boss battle in the games thought.
I just wish super Broly had Z brolys blue super sayian hair and also actually talked. I'm glad Super Broly talked about his backstory but during his fights he would just go "GRAHHHH REAHHHH RAHHHHH"
The two problems with Z Broly is that he is introduced as the legendary super saiyan but I prefer goku being that because it was the whole point of the first ssj transformation the second problem is him hating goku for crying like the son of the man who betrayed you is there go violate him not me
God I hate how they ruined Z Broly, I actually watched S Broly’s movie first then went and watched Z. Why did they have to make him so boring and neutered?
personally i don't like broly i like the legendary super saiyan transformation like that form just feels like royalty and it's OP so i like kale's transformation too
I think the first Broly movie would have been more interesting if his hatred was pointed at Vegeta which could lead to Goku and Vegeta needing to team up to take him down which would have made his hatred more understandable and sympathetic to a certain extent but showing how his hatred turned him into a bloodlusted monster and Second Coming could have been an expansion on that. I will say that both the first and second Broly movies had a great soundtrack that fit the scenes and characters, especially Pantera playing when Broly first transforms and I would say that the fights in second coming are fun to watch mainly for the music.
@@olamasama9243 That's true especially since neither Vegeta or Piccolo were there despite probably being able to sense his ki. It could have been a Gohan or Vegeta centered movie which would have cut out the village plotline and the dragon ball plotline that only led to a confusing ending.

apparently it wasn't so much the crying but the will to get stronger that triggered broly as infant's broly was insanely strong but very timid, kakarot was very weak but had the strong desire to get stronger that's what triggered broly to go after goku so much

I always preferred Cooler.
Because hes cooler
Cooler is NOT cooler
Okay, so?
lowk they should make dbs: cooler and dbs: janemba or sumn or at least make em so that theyre jus offscreen characters
Me to he's just cooler
9:42 You nailed this part😂
Lots of people asked Koyama and other producers/directors of the film about Z Broly.
1: Z Broly came back cause they couldn't find anyone stronger. Broly was the Legendary Super Saiyan, his whole "thing" is to be the strongest saiyan, thus they felt it was underwhelming for him to have only 1 appearance and be done. Koyama and Morshita, 2 producers of the film do say this. Also another director Yamaguchi does say Broly is the strongest saiyan but compared to Goku/Vegeta who fight for love he would never succeed. (More power of friendship nonsense)
2: A person on twitter asked Koyama "Can Broly destroy the universe in 1 blow", Koyama replied "Even if he could Goku will stop him". Goku has to win, regardless of how he does it
3: Did Broly hate Goku cause he cried?
Saiyans based a lot of things on a baby power level and there destiny, I guess Broly takes the whole losing thing way too seriously even if it is at birth
4: Koyama acknowledges that Bio Broly ruined Broly, and doesn't even like to address it. He also says that the Broly films are a different dimension from the Janemba film.
5: Broly didn't talk in Movie 10 cause Koyama wanted to give him more of a threatening and scary feel to the character. People did ask him why he didn't talk and this was the reason they wrote him that way in Movie 10
Movie 10 and 11 were honestly huge mistakes.
I would actually be pretty intrigued to see Broly run through the afterlife and beat everyone's ass.
I would be intrigued if it wasn't for the fact that we saw Bio Broly already, and his character was in the mud
How did broly go from breaking goku and gohan's backs to getting the bricks beaten out of him by goten and krillin.
No idea
Feels like it could've been handled a lot better like you said
@@olamasama9243 yea, like that part of destroying a whole galaxy automatically meant I was thinking like "so he can blow up trillions of stars at once but not one single goku?"
Although thats something I like about Super Broly.

Bio Broly was so difficult man. And they could've played into the whole "being controlled" theme, but no, it's just gooey Broly
Dbz fans will never accept anything, you know💀?
"The story sucks?"
"There are so many things that don't make sense?"
You just described DBS Broly movie!

-Mistranslation
-sayains cant breath in space and at that point its unknown if they can survive being offed by an exploding planet
-this vegeta is the prideful vegeta who still believes in sayain history. It’s perfectly in character for him to be scared when he not only meets the legend he was told to as a kid, but experience an immense power gap that nothing he did would ever close (besides he cried when he couldn’t do anything to frieza)
-he didnt die by the punch considering second coming and even if u excluded the movie he was done in by his own ki, hence y his body glowed green before exploding meaning his ki was at his body’s limit
-paragus explains while planet vegeta was being destroyed broly’s latent potential awakened, allowing him to subconsciously form an energy barrier that kept him and paragus safe
-the punch was said to be a x1000 amp of all their ki combined giving goku a small window to attack
-animation issue or the wound healed considering sayain biology
-goku at the time of the movie was stronger than vegeta and in the stand off between he and broly u could see both of them feeling each other off as being strong. Bro forgot to blur the little members of the baby characters. UA-cam is gonna fuck you up
Nah we straight, for some reason it's cool for Dragon Ball. Guess the art style makes it too ambiguous
This is insane😮
SS1 Goku being 4x stronger would make him easily be able to throw hands with Broly.
ab the goku and pikkon thing, fusion reborn was meant to be broly not janemba
Yeah, thank god they swapped him out for janemba
Yea I heard about that, THANK goodness
For those who didn't notice this
The real reason broly hates Goku isn't simply because of the crying, but the crying is a reminder of the worst day of his life: An attempt on his life and the destruction of planet Vegeta.
Perfectly fine liking the movies. It was nice to Krillin and 18 in Bio Broly
Broly is a decent antagonist
Decent.....that's all he gets!?
@@truthspreader1996 he suffers from dbz movies being mad short
When it comes to z and super broly i don't know how to feel about them
Hold on now they both still work great super broly is more developed as a character in trying to become something more than just his monsterous self z toyotaro trying to give him some character development here's the thing super broly is still a crash out you just have to make him mad enough to reach that point of power
30 mins of cool screen time and being as popular as he is, is actually insane.
Aside from the Kakarot bs, Broly had some pretty sinister lines.

Second Coming should've actually expanded on the Broly lore a lot more. There was definitely room to expand on him, but I guess they just rushed it
@@olamasama9243 That's true especially since neither Vegeta or Piccolo were there despite probably being able to sense his ki.
It could have been a Gohan or Vegeta centered movie which would have cut out the village plotline and the dragon ball plotline that only led to a confusing ending.
