Hey guys I made 2 booboos in this video. 1. Recoil/reload table. 2nd row should be orange-yellow-yellow. This means reload 3 and recoil 3 is unnecessary for (base)slow reload and (base)high recoil. 2. I said guarding always gives you chip dmg. Actually no. You can perfect guard and get 0 dmg but that means you need to "start" guarding right when the monster is about to hit you. This means you will need to finish an action before that. For example, fire off 1 round in the right time, stop and autoguard right when the monster hits you. It is a little next level so I would suggest you to play it safe instead and roll/guard normally!
I use Basarios HBG which Wywerm Fire Attack as a first ammo at begin, another after is Sleep and Poison, I use my build as 5 Fire Attack - 5 Guard - 3 Artillery - 2 Defensive Loading, I plan to shot only Wywerm Fire Attack, it's really a mini Gunlance special skill, does incredible damage, I love it , and tanking monster hits to reload 1 hit/2 ammo, I'm not going tanking all monster hits, dodge some hit deal massive damage too
Thanks for the video! I feel like it's not worth guarding against attacks other than roars but it's taking time to adapt to the slow roll and reload after playing LBG so long
It's possible to perfectly time a block to reduce damage, but heavier hitting attacks may also require 1-3 pts in Guard to take 0 damage while perfect blocking. Supposedly, HBG has the same base Guard level as Charge Blade w/o Red shield, which is worse than (Gun)Lance but better than SnS.
I decided to try the BBlos HBG. It seems fun and worth making. The fact that it only needs Recoil Down 1 makes building for it easier. The other one that I like - at least in concept - is Rajang's. Its -30% affinity is meaningless since Sticky and Cluster can't crit, and you can potentially make its damage crazy good if you can Driftsmelt Thunder Attack onto every Recoil, Reload, and Artillery piece.
I also went with the Black Diablos Heavy Bowgun cause I hate dealing with Cluster ammo and the continuous Pierce ammo is easy to build with without requiring any investment into element (since my SnS collection already covers those so that just means overlapping parts.), as of now the build is just the Magnamalo chest and Coral Pukei-Pukei waist but I’ll see what other armor pieces I’ll want to add, maybe Aknosom and some Critical eye/Weakness exploit pieces?
@@ProfessorRugops BBlos HBG, being a pure raw weapon that hits a lot of times, gets way more use out of Burst than it does out of Critical Eye or Weakness Exploit. Use the above build, then try to Driftsmelt in one more rank of Burst to max it out. If you have the patience, you can then smelt on one rank of Weakness Exploit and three Critical Eye.
Hbg with spread ammo are insanely good for my opinion if we pair it with defensive loading, the only downside of defensive loading for me is we really need the guard skill to fully utilize the DL and shielding mechanic

I just checked. You're right. Thanks for catching the mistake. Can I confirm again that the only mistake in the table is that.. 1. Slow reload + reload speed 3 = normal 2. High recoil + recoil down 3 = average. Everything else is ok?
@@shawnzyplaysNo. it's more complicated Mostly it's slow reload + reload 2 (TWO) = normal ( reload 3 has no additional effect) Same for recoil High + recoil 2 = average (recoil 3 has no additional effect ) But there are a few that work differently Poison and sleep ammo work like in the table (high +3 = low and slow +3 = fast) Slice is like the table for recoil, but not reload (high +3 = low but slow +2 = normal with +3 has no extra reload speed) And the radobaan hbg, it has wyvern with only one bullet. It's an excellent video and very instructive I love that crossbow and used the light one since I started playing. Now I have a problem with the last update because after I download it the aim does not work the sight stays fixed and does not move and the gyroscope of the phone is fine, I have already tried it in other games. As a measure I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and the problem persists do anyone know how I could fix it or have the same problem
@@shawnzyplays I've already played that since the game came out and when I say that it doesn't work it's that it's always fixed, the sights are fixed, this one in full or semi doesn't move with crossbows or bows or melee weapons, everything else works except that.
Wait we can also do Perfect Guard, attacking-second before the attack and those tiny gap of idle moment but Yeap, it's risky enough, best to either guard-reload or just rolling out the way...
Depends on the ammo. There's critical distance, there's not being in critical distance, and there's totally out of range. You can easily go out of range if your ammo's range is low(like spread)
No I don't think so.. I think it's better to get the principles right and get ppl to do up their own build since everyone's driftsmelting luck is different.
@@shawnzyplays You can do builds _without_ Driftsmelting. For example, the best BBlos HBG build without smelting is Zinogre/Magnamalo/Rathian/Coral Pukei/Zinogre, which is Burst 4, Reload Speed 3, and Recoil Down 1, plus other skills that don't matter much. For everything else though, it's pretty much the same as for LBG.

High recoil can NOT be made to Low recoil. (Slicing Ammo seems to be exception. Goes from High -> Low recoild with recoil 3 skill)
Slow reload can NOT be made to Fast reload. (Poison seem to be exception. Goes from Slow -> Fast with reload 3 skill)
Only a few ammo types can be moved 2 steps down in recoil / reload. Most can NOT
Long Explanation
I checked in-game. The Bone HBG (Heavy Shooter) has these base stats:
Pierce (6 ammo) - average recoil / slow reload
Cluster (2 ammo) - high recoil / slow reload
the graph says with recoil 3 / reload 3 i should have low recoil and fast reload on everything
but i actually get:
Pierce - low recoil / normal reload
Cluster - average recoil / normal reload
so one tier higher than expected on everything except the Pierce recoil
Bone HBG, but with 2/2 recoil reload (same as 3/3 recoil reload)
Pierce - low recoil / normal reload
Cluster - average recoil / normal reload
Sinister Voley base stats:
Spread (7 ammo) - average recoil / slow reload
Slicing (4 ammo) - high recoil / slow reload
Cluster (3 ammo) - high recoil / very slow reload
IMPORTANT - Bone HBG Cluster has 2 ammo and SLOW reload, while Sinister HBG Cluster has 3 ammo and VERY SLOW reload
Sinisrter Voley with 3/3 reload recoil
Spread (7 ammo) - low recoil / normal reload
Slicing (4 ammo) - low recoil / normal reload
Cluster (3 ammo) - average recoil / slow reload
now with 2/2 reload recoil
Spread (7 ammo) - low recoil / normal reload
Slicing (4 ammo) - average recoil / normal reload (Here recoil change to Average with recoil 2 skill)
Cluster (3 ammo) - average recoil / very slow reload (Here reload doesnt change with only 2 reload skill)
Finally Rathian HBG base stats:
Poison (5 ammo) - avegare recoil / slow reload
Spread (7 ammo) - average recoil / very slow reload
Cluster (2 ammo) - high recoil / very slow reload
Another IMPORTANT - Here Cluster has only 2 ammo, but has the VERY SLOW reload
with 3/3 recoil reload (everything goes 1 step down, except poison reload - it goes 2 down)
Poison (5 ammo) - low recoil / fast reload
Spread (7 ammo) - low recoil / slow reload
Cluster (2 ammo) - average recoil / slow reload
with 2/2 recoil reload
Poison (5 ammo) - low recoil / normal reload
Spread (7 ammo) - low recoil / very slow reload
Cluster (2 ammo) - average recoil / very slow reload
I just checked. You're right. Thanks for catching the mistake.

1. Slow reload + reload speed 3 = normal
2. High recoil + recoil down 3 = average.
Everything else is ok?
@@shawnzyplaysNo. it's more complicated
Mostly it's slow reload + reload 2 (TWO) = normal ( reload 3 has no additional effect)
Same for recoil
High + recoil 2 = average (recoil 3 has no additional effect )
But there are a few that work differently
Poison and sleep ammo work like in the table (high +3 = low and slow +3 = fast)
Slice is like the table for recoil, but not reload (high +3 = low but slow +2 = normal with +3 has no extra reload speed)
And the radobaan hbg, it has wyvern with only one bullet. That goes slow reload + reload 3 = fast
I think the recoil and reload are affected by how many bullets there are
Example - black diablos
Pierce with 4 bullets = slow reload
Pierce with 6 bullets = very slow reload
And by the type
Normal/status
Pierce / spread / slice
Cluster / wyvern
