I find it insane that we only have Power, Black-ish, and Empire(which sucks) to watch. Especially in a time were black kids need to see more people that look like them in a positive atmosphere. These shows with the exception of Black-ish shows black people in a negative light.

My ex was from London and he said he bought the entire seasons of Friends to learn the English language. He thought everyone in the US spoke like them. When I asked him various black shows like Living Single and Martin he said those shows weren't funny. After that we split ways. His funny wasn't my type of funny.

I remember when the series finale aired, all the girls in my dorm crowded around the TV in the commons area to have a watch party (I went to Clemson). I was the only chick on my floor disinterested. "Living Single" was vastly superior in every way. I still watch those reruns when they air on TV.

To say this...you must be a young millennial. Living Single and Golden Girls have very little in common. Golden Girls and Sex and the City...maybe but not Living Single. First of all, the men of the show were integral to the storyline. Men on GS were just dates.

There's Stan, Dorothy's ex-husband and Miles, Roses' boyfriend, who both had recurring roles on the show and appeared in many episodes. For me, the character types of the women on both shows were similar as well as the basis of the show - seeing the lives of 4 women who live and love together told from a comedic perspective.

If they did it better they would have been on longer. Friends had better writing and a better cast. Living Single was great for the first season and parts of the 2nd season but it ran out of ideas. Friends really kept things fresh week to week.

Living Single writers were speaking about this even back then during the taping of both Warner Bros. shows. In a Writers Guild of America magazine called "Written By" back in the 1990s, there was an article featuring the writers of Living Single and they even said that they had an idea for a lesbian wedding in their second season (Friends' first season), but were told by the studio they couldn't do it. Then Friends had a lesbian wedding in their second season (LS's 3rd) and THEN Living Single was allowed to do it in their 4th season (with Max's college roommate). So it made it look like Friends was PUSHING THE ENVELOPE but, in reality, the studio already was pitched the idea by Living Single a year prior.

also this is the first year the Grammys was in January, typically its in February. they moved the oscars up so they moved the Grammys up as well. Didnt even know the Grammys was going to be on until news about Kobe hit and they said the Grammys was suppose to be at the staples center that same night. they have been experiencing declines like a lot of awards shows but that night I would think people would have been tuned in because of Kobe's death

Alot of the hit black shows that got canceled. later get replaced by similar shows. But with white cast. Or after the show gets popular they make the white version. The white version of coarse, last longer and gets more support. Like how the Bernie mack show is now modern family. Red and meth stung, turned into ashton Kutchers punked. White shows were in the suburbs with rich families. Then they all started to copy the "reality" theme and now they're broke or living in a low income apartment building.

The example you used to discredit what I said was very weak and really had nothing to do with the point. A lot of these shows were hits and their ratings weren't low enough to be canceled. This has been a big controversy for years. A lot of white shows ratings that were worse than the black shows or nearly the same. Went on for years! The white shows also get lots of promo. The re runs are played a lot as well. There's this thing called the black show curse. 5 seasons tops, is all they get regardless of good ratings. Very few have made it past 5 seasons. Also like I said, the white versions get lots more support from the network. They also get reboots, specials, and sometimes get brought back. That's the actual issue here. Pay more attention bruh. The Goldberg's is exactly like everybody hates Chris. If you seen the show you could easily notice where the idea of Goldberg's came from. Even the ending credits are the same lol. The whole format and structure is the same. The moment I saw the Goldberg's, I thought about chris rock. Again, these white executives behind the scenes do this shit all the time.

The Grammys, and other awards shows, no longer get large audiences because artists are more accessible via social media throughout the year. Before the Internet and Social Media, fans had to wait and see artists on these shows. Artists today over saturate the Internet with their images, music, fashion, food, or whatever else they're selling or promoting.

Marco Durán, that’s all true. However, it seems that the cast of LS is being looked at as if their show piggy backed off of Friends and that’s not the case. There’s nothing wrong with the LS actors wanting their recognition for being on air before Friends. And, I really don’t even think they (LS) would have even made them being the first a big deal had people not started saying they were the black version of Friends. Please 🙄
So he is getting attacked for not knowing a show? He was trying to promote diversity. I don't see that as a bad thing. Attacking people that are trying to do the right thing is not how we obtain equality. That is how we divide ourselves even more.

It's about time someone said it. Living Single was pitched to the producers of Friends but they rejected it. After Living Single was successful they are mysteriously canceled and then Friends comes out. Never watched it and never will.

Living single and Friends had Career oriented young women and men living together in the same complex in NYC and messing with each other. Golden girls, threes company and 227 had no such concept. The plot of Friends mirrored Living Single while having similar creators.
I have never nor will I ever watch an episode of Friends. But I know every single episode of Living Single
