Sig Sauer 1911 TACOPS Unbox & Field Strip (in HD)

  • A quick unbox and how to field strip a 1911 - in this case, a Sig Sauer 1911 TACOPS. Things to remember when field stripping a 1911: 1) go slowly, and 2) don't ever force anything in or out of place. If it doesn't move easily, make sure you've got everything in the right location, then use gentle pressure and "wiggle."

I have been shooting and cleaning 1911s for many years now. I was looking for a good 1911 field strip video to send to my daughter's boyfriend who is the proud owner of his first 1911. This is the very best video I have seen for 1911 owners, new or old! Thanks Steve.

You were very thorough and easy to follow along! Your voice takes away the intimidation of disassembling my 1911 for the first time. Thank you for making this great resource for beginners! :D

Thanks, Dennis! The idea of taking apart "your baby" for the first time can be intimidating, but I assure you that if I can do it, anyone can. I hope your first disassembly goes (or already went!) well.

Best assembly/disassembly video of the 1911. I bought this Sig 3+ years ago. $733 plus FFL fee. With the rebates, ended up with 6 mags and a nice bag.

It's also important to note that Sig uses a smaller diameter guiderod and a flatwound spring that is smaller in diameter. So when a Spring replacement is necessary it might be a good time to replace that guiderod with an original guiderod unless the smaller flatwound is preferred. I love your reviews Steve. Very well spoken and straight to the point while being very informative.

Steve Jenkins By the way, I came to this video because I'm deciding between a Tacops 10mm and a Legion 10mm. Years ago, I had a Delta Elite and it really handled and shot well (after considerable custom work from Novak's). I like SIGs and the Tacops 1911 looks like it already has it all. I'm not into $2500 1911s anymore

I purchased my Sig TacOps around the same time you posted this video. I have had ZERO issues. Very Accurate and the best part is that I was going to change the setup with Nowlin Pro (Hammer, Sear and Disconnector) but I found out that Sig uses Cylinder and Slide internals.

This video was the reason I bought the Sig 1911 Tacops, lol. I bought the threaded barrel edition back in February and I absolutely love it. My first gun was the Sig P226 and I've been a huge Sig Sauer fan since.
The only thing is the plunger on mine has to be pushed back with a tool in order for me to fit the slide stop back into place and it's kind of annoying, lol. Next step is getting a suppressor for it! Great videos, btw!

I traded through a few 1911s when I first really got into guns and this is the only one I've stuck with long term, I'll probably never sell it. It's not a pretty gun but it's been dead reliable, more reliable than other modern handguns which is impressive for a 1911. This is a really solid functional handgun. They also have a ton of features for $1k~. I traded a Kimber Desert Warrior for mine like 6 years ago which has a few hundred dollar higher MRSP but the sig is way better value. I have a Colt Delta Elite now as well, which is beautiful and a fun range toy, but the sig is honestly better built and it's cheaper.

I already own a Sig P226, was thinking of getting a ruger SR 1911 but Sigs are so reliable and it's true that they make you a better shooter. My 3rd visit to the range with the 226 i was ripping the center off the targets with ease. So i'm getting one of those with the threaded barrel.

Steve Jenkins England, for the most part there's no real need for home defence. But I'm convinced things are going to change in the next few years.
I've always been a fan of guns, I always try to identify the guns in a tv show or film and wondered what all the bits and bobs on the guns are.
You field strip was great for learning what they all are.

Also considering an STI 1911, Spirngfield and Ruger SR1911 but I own a few SIGs (and HKs, Glocks, Berettas, HK is my favorite while SIG and Beretta are the ones I just love to feel and hold, all-metal fan heh....) anyway, miss my Kimber TLE 2 and having felt a few Kimbers next to the SIGs I think the SIG 1911s feel a tad better trigger-wise.

    • @SteveJenkins
      @SteveJenkins  10 років тому +1

Hi, Amir. I suppose it depends on what you define as "quality." If quality means custom snazzy grips, engraving, polishing, etc... then there are plenty of guns out there that you'll prefer over the Sig. But for me, quality is about fit, finish, reliability, and confidence that when my booger hook grabs the bang switch... it's gonna go "bang." In that regard, the Sig is perfect for me. Just cleaned it today, in fact, after putting 75 rounds downrange.

That's pretty much the opposite of what most reviews of this gun say. People that have owned and shot all 3 say that the $1200 msrp Sig is just as high a quality as the $2k plus customs and high end Springfields and Kimbers.

I own a kimber raptor and a kimber 1911 compact. Both are great guns but I do love my sigs.

If you need a snap caps to practice with it, it isn't a duty gun or a comp gun.
