Sig Sauer 1911 TACOPS Unbox & Field Strip (in HD)

- A quick unbox and how to field strip a 1911 - in this case, a Sig Sauer 1911 TACOPS. Things to remember when field stripping a 1911: 1) go slowly, and 2) don't ever force anything in or out of place. If it doesn't move easily, make sure you've got everything in the right location, then use gentle pressure and "wiggle."
I have been shooting and cleaning 1911s for many years now. I was looking for a good 1911 field strip video to send to my daughter's boyfriend who is the proud owner of his first 1911. This is the very best video I have seen for 1911 owners, new or old! Thanks Steve.
Thank you, Reverend. Safe shooting! :)
Rev. Steven Taylor little late to the party also. Recently got an emperor scorpion 1911. Watched this video twice before tackling the field strip. Great video!
You were very thorough and easy to follow along! Your voice takes away the intimidation of disassembling my 1911 for the first time. Thank you for making this great resource for beginners! :D
Thanks, Dennis! The idea of taking apart "your baby" for the first time can be intimidating, but I assure you that if I can do it, anyone can. I hope your first disassembly goes (or already went!) well.
It did, thanks to you! ;) and high five to you because I have family in Seattle! :D
Well said, that was my feelings as well
What started as a cool gun review became one of the best disassembly and reassembly videos of a 1911 I’ve ever seen. Many thanks.
Best assembly/disassembly video of the 1911. I bought this Sig 3+ years ago. $733 plus FFL fee. With the rebates, ended up with 6 mags and a nice bag.
It's also important to note that Sig uses a smaller diameter guiderod and a flatwound spring that is smaller in diameter. So when a Spring replacement is necessary it might be a good time to replace that guiderod with an original guiderod unless the smaller flatwound is preferred. I love your reviews Steve. Very well spoken and straight to the point while being very informative.
The 26 dislikes were people who already scratched their receiver putting the slide stop/release lever back in. Good video. 👍
I legit laughed out loud! Thanks!
Steve Jenkins Happy to hear it! This is the best vid I've seen on 1911 disassembly/reassembly for cleaning. Great reminders to go slow and gently move things around to remove or replace them. 👍
Steve Jenkins By the way, I came to this video because I'm deciding between a Tacops 10mm and a Legion 10mm. Years ago, I had a Delta Elite and it really handled and shot well (after considerable custom work from Novak's). I like SIGs and the Tacops 1911 looks like it already has it all. I'm not into $2500 1911s anymore
I totally scratched my receiver putting the lever back in, and I still gave a like!
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I was watching many videos of how to field strip a Sig1911 so I clean my SigSauer1911 Emperor Scorpion 🦂, however, most of the youtube vloggers were running through it quickly, but you demonstrated it in an easy, smart way.
Great video. The best field strip tutorial I have seen....clear, concise, and to the point. Many thanks.
Great video. I appreciate the step by step breakdown. Just bought this as my first gun and im glad theres a good video to learn about it from.
Nothing new but explanation simple, complete, right to the point with a nice voice...very good video!
Just purchased my first gun which was the Sig Sauer 1911 Tacops. GREAT video!!! Made it very easy to understand, especially for a first time gun owner. Hope you make a video on cleaning the Sig as well.
Great video!! Getting a tacops soon!! As a new 1911 owner I really appreciate a good video on how to disassemble and assemble!!
Just bought this weapon system myself and I've always wanted a 1911 so might as well get a good one. So watched your video to learn how to feild strip wich helped greatly and now I'm ready to rock! Thanks for everything!
Hunter Stanley Ready to rock indeed! :)
Your video was way more helpful then any advice I had received on how to clean my 1911. I appreciate the information, thank you again
I purchased my Sig TacOps around the same time you posted this video. I have had ZERO issues. Very Accurate and the best part is that I was going to change the setup with Nowlin Pro (Hammer, Sear and Disconnector) but I found out that Sig uses Cylinder and Slide internals.
Hi af22raptor23503. I've also still have zero issues! What's the source of the info that Sig uses Cylinder & Slide internals? C&S makes great stuff.
Thanks for the video. I bought my first 1911 (sig nightmare) and was having trouble putting it back together. found this video and got it done.

Excellent! Feeling comfy dis- and re-assembling a weapon is a key to a more intimate relationship with it. ;)
I own one of these that came with the threaded barrel and raised sights. Have several 1911's and this is the best ever. Shoots like a dream.
just ordered a tacops 10mm and found this vid.thanks.a very well explained take down.
Great video simple & accurate lesson I just bought a Sig Sauer 1911, Great firearm. Watched you and did same It works !!!!
Thanks for making this video Steve :-D it's so helpful and I got a lot of infos from your video.
Just ordered one for $733. Sig has a deal for two additional mags and a bag. Total mags = 6
That's a great deal! Nice!
Great instructional video. I just picked up my first Sig Sauer 1911 nickel plated today.
Thanks, J. Gamble. I bet that thing looks stunning in nickel!
Really well done video. Straightforward with the right info and the perfect pace. Thanks for posting!
Thank you for making this awesome and thorough video! I own one of these fine 1911s and have no problems so far. I have put a few thousand rounds through it and we’re good to go. Hope you enjoyed your thanks and have a very nice Christmas! Aloha from Hawaii!
I'm looking at getting this as my first hand gun. Outstanding video, clear and simple instruction.
Sir, this video has guided me step by step through field stripping my sig 1911 tacops and I was able to clean it as well. Very useful info and great video. Thanks.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful! :) Enjoy that fantastic gun!
One of the best 1911 videos I've ever seen.
Thx, Chris!
your thumbnail is epic... XD
Hi, Have you shot the Sig 1911 and if so how do you like it? any issues with it, I thinking about getting the same pistol, any issues with the nitron finish? any info would be great.
Excellent video. Perfect instructions for takedown/re-assembly.
This video was the reason I bought the Sig 1911 Tacops, lol. I bought the threaded barrel edition back in February and I absolutely love it. My first gun was the Sig P226 and I've been a huge Sig Sauer fan since.
The only thing is the plunger on mine has to be pushed back with a tool in order for me to fit the slide stop back into place and it's kind of annoying, lol. Next step is getting a suppressor for it! Great videos, btw!
Thanks, Donovan Delos Santos. Not surprised to hear you love it. :) I recommend the Silencerco Osprey .45 for the TacOps. Looks and works great.... sounds even better. :)
That's exactly the suppressor I had in mind! Hahaha. Thanks!
great job. I have a Kimber 1911 target eclipse I reload for for years. just picked up my sig nightmare carry and bench tested loads today and shot for first time. wow. I'm really liking these sigs. thank you. good video.
Just bought mine today (traditional slide)... should be delivered by next Wed. Nice review, Steve. Can't wait to shoot it.
agreed. the best instructional video I've seen. thanks
My sig 1911 Nitron has been perfectly reliable and very accurate. Trigger is at 4lbs now, and reset is all very good.
I traded through a few 1911s when I first really got into guns and this is the only one I've stuck with long term, I'll probably never sell it. It's not a pretty gun but it's been dead reliable, more reliable than other modern handguns which is impressive for a 1911. This is a really solid functional handgun. They also have a ton of features for $1k~. I traded a Kimber Desert Warrior for mine like 6 years ago which has a few hundred dollar higher MRSP but the sig is way better value. I have a Colt Delta Elite now as well, which is beautiful and a fun range toy, but the sig is honestly better built and it's cheaper.
Just picked mine up today for $850,$929 with tax, this is a sweet gun
I already own a Sig P226, was thinking of getting a ruger SR 1911 but Sigs are so reliable and it's true that they make you a better shooter. My 3rd visit to the range with the 226 i was ripping the center off the targets with ease. So i'm getting one of those with the threaded barrel.
Thank you. This was really helpful and "Clear to follow".
nice 1911 & great demonstration of how to do strip it. almost wish i lived in a gun owning country
Bummer. Where DO you live?
Steve Jenkins England, for the most part there's no real need for home defence. But I'm convinced things are going to change in the next few years.
I've always been a fan of guns, I always try to identify the guns in a tv show or film and wondered what all the bits and bobs on the guns are.
You field strip was great for learning what they all are.
Awesome!! Just bought this exact 1911 Tacops, but in 9mm!! Already have a Scorpion in .45acp
Thank you so much for posting this video. Helped me tremendously! 😊
just got my 1911 spartan today great vid thanks
Sweet looking gun! :)
nice video man, this is my first concealed carry, and it's always good to know how it works
Great video. Clear and concise. Thanks
Thank you so much for the awesome/thorough video! I own one and is my most favorite handgun to shoot! Hope you had a great thanksgiving and merry Christmas! Aloha from Hawaii!
Fantastic video. Thank you for posting!
My first 1911 and its the xo, almost the same thing but this video helped me field strip it for the first time. Thanks Steve. I just Subscribe and I hit "liked"
"I don't mind getting my guns dirty, its the right thing to do" I knew I liked this guy.
Thank you for this informative video.
Great job on field strip!
I have one of these with out the rail and I love! I am pretty obsessed with it lol. I've shot 700 rounds so far out of it. No problems with it.
Thank you sir. Much appreciated for the refresher course!
Steve Jenkins Great video! Very detailed and informative. Sig 1911 is a beauty. I just added it to my list of firearms I want to buy. Im sure its going to cost a bit up here in Illinois.
I really like my Sig STX 1911 for $1100 2 tone w/pretty grips. It did not require breaking in.Shot great right away unlike the Remington R1S that took 300 rounds & polishing the rails.
Amazing video brother very detailed and informative I appreciate it
This is the way it should be done. Thank you sir.👍
Thanks for making this video, very helpful!
Great to hear, Jake Straughn. Thanks!
Excellent useful information. Cool video. Cheers.
Great video...i got my TTT, accidentally pushed my slide stop out....Thanks again.
I don't understand why a "combat trigger" would be heavier than a "target trigger"? Wouldn't u want a lighter trigger in combat? I'm new to this stuff and I'm not asking rhetorically or sarcastically, im really curious about the differences.
Interesting about the 45acp casing for a guide ride spring plug.
Nice write up just order a sig1911 too can't wait to take it to the range
Good video.Thank You for sharing your expertise. Cheers.
Getting an arsenal AK in 5.45 and one of these babies very soon... Can't wait I love 1911s and hopefully this will be a very reliable handgun since I currently run an arsenal SAS-M7 and a SIG220 :3
what is the model in the thumbnail? I'm looking for that exact model with the 3 holes in the trigger. can't find the name for it.
Is it a "Tac-ops" or a "Taco-ps?"
Michael Powell LOL. Great. Now I'm hungry...
Taco-ps: RIP
Thanks for your great video. It helped me alot but I noticed some one else about eight months ago asked about a complete field strip and cleaning on what to do and what not to do, have you made one yet? Thanks again just subscribed.
awesome! thanks very helpful I'm waiting on my Sig Sauer 1911 California two tone can't wait to practice on it. shooting or stripping! hopefully it has same functions.
+veni valino Yep - functions and field stripping will be identical. Enjoy!
Clean, quick, and simple explanation. Great video. Thank you. Do you have a clean and lube video for this weapon? A full service cleaning on what to grease/lube and what not to.
Not yet, but that's a great suggestion. I'll add it to the "to do" videos list. :)
I ended up running into issues with that plunger lever when I tried pushing the slide back on. Couldn't figure out why until I saw that tiny piece there. Didn't seem to exist for other 1911 models, so I wonder what that is supposed to do.
Also, do you have any suggestions for tools involving the spring? Because man does compressing the spring tire out my fingers a lot.
Excellent video - thanks!
Stupid phone got it wrong.Full length guide rods make it hard to field strip & clean.
excellently done
Great instructional video!
I always wonder myself if I could get used to a Thumb Safety... I'm kind of skeptical to buy a 1911 because of this!
Great video !!
I know you said that the guiderod goes in perfect. But that actually scares me...gonna look for a place to do a layaway plan!
Does this gun's surface collect any finger print?
Very good video! BTW, it's been 2 years since you last had a video and 5 years since this one. Do you still own this gun?
Great gun the only negative is the magazine. I bought different ones
would you recommend this for a first time 1911 owner?
Thanks for the video............................................................. & THUMBS UP : )
Is that a crack on the slide on the left hand side or is that a finish vlemish
PRobably selling my HK P2000 to get a SIG 1911, this is one of the ones I'm considering. Also considering an STI 1911, Spirngfield and Ruger SR1911 but I own a few SIGs (and HKs, Glocks, Berettas, HK is my favorite while SIG and Beretta are the ones I just love to feel and hold, all-metal fan heh....) anyway, miss my Kimber TLE 2 and having felt a few Kimbers next to the SIGs I think the SIG 1911s feel a tad better trigger-wise.
How would the accuracy compare to a sig 9mm match elite ?
nice I have 2 Sig MIA one in crome and the other in the black had to get both and I realy like them
please respond. I just got my Sig 1911 XO. is it the same thing to take it apart just without the rail?
Yep! Totally the same with pretty much most 1911s.
hi steve, thanks for doing great videos. it is a great help for new gun owners like me. i am worried with my sig nightmare. i cleaned it yesterday fir the first time and i accidentally drop the hammer while the slide is removed. do you think it will cause damage to the gun? i am planning to test fire it asap. thanks.
Nice 1911 and excellent "how to field strip" video. I just traded my Ruger 1911 and need a new one. How is this running for you?
I put In a search for this and nothing but an idiot showing the pistol with no sound for two minutes came up, and a Kimber field strip ... Maybe you could put a couple more words in the description or whatever, because not only was this exactly what I was looking for, but the video was great (sound, lighting etc.) it should be 1st video upon search.
Thanks!
First time I disassembled my 1911 didnt pay attention to spring housing and it bounced off the ceiling lol
Looks like a nice alternative to the over priced colt marine pistol
Mine came with a holster with a clip holder, a laser, two mags, and a speed loader. How much did you pay for yours?
***** That sounds like a great group of extras! What kind of laser? I think I paid $899 for mine.
good video. I really like the sprigfield 1911. it seems to be of higher quality tha either kimber or sig. what are your thoughts?
Hi, Amir. I suppose it depends on what you define as "quality." If quality means custom snazzy grips, engraving, polishing, etc... then there are plenty of guns out there that you'll prefer over the Sig. But for me, quality is about fit, finish, reliability, and confidence that when my booger hook grabs the bang switch... it's gonna go "bang." In that regard, the Sig is perfect for me. Just cleaned it today, in fact, after putting 75 rounds downrange.
That's pretty much the opposite of what most reviews of this gun say. People that have owned and shot all 3 say that the $1200 msrp Sig is just as high a quality as the $2k plus customs and high end Springfields and Kimbers.
I own a kimber raptor and a kimber 1911 compact. Both are great guns but I do love my sigs.
how does this compare to a springfield TRP
Can this gun use plastic bbs?
Great job. Getting this same model next week. How's accuracy. Thank you for the video
Safety check: ´puts hand in front ou the barrell before opening the slide ´
Is thus gun Cali compliant
If you need a snap caps to practice with it, it isn't a duty gun or a comp gun.
Great vid, thanks!
