  • This one shows the simple failure codes for Carrier, Bryant, Payne furnaces built in the late 90s to present. This video is part of the heating and cooling series of training videos made to accompany my websites: www.graycoolingman.com and www.grayfurnaceman.com to pass on what I have learned in many years of service and repair. If you have suggestions or comments they are welcome.
    If you are a homeowner looking to repair your own appliance, understand that the voltages can be lethal, the fuels are highly flammable and high pressures are used. Know your limits.

    All fixed my friend GF. The problem was that small jumper plug and a fuse. TY

    I can't thank you enough for this video. My furnace was refusing to light and locking out.
    After watching this, I pulled the condensate drain inside the furnace and water poured out. I carefully blew out the plug, which probably was 15 years of dead bugs and other debris.
    It took about 10 minutes to fix the problem and saved me hundreds of dollars. I owe you one!

      @@grayfurnacemanthey just changed the regulator on the propane tank - haven't gotten ANY blinking red codes - but NO HEAT! The water heater works- propane, and propane wall heater works... coincidence?
      The guy that replaced it said it was working fine, but old, and the line out of tank was leaking but he didn't have an exact match so he put one on for "free" and it would just be the service call...

    BDP Co furnace, looks exactly like in your video:
    so the furnace looks like everything should work, the blowers come on, the pilot ignites, then the main burner comes on for about 2 seconds, then it shuts down, cycles through start up 3 times and shuts down, seeing error code 14, so it's not sensing that the burner is on and shutting down to prevent what it believes is gas leak from non functioning burner?

    i got a code 13 and 33 on my furnace it a carrier weathermaker 9200 and the rollout switch got trigger does the mean that my heat exchanger is bad ?

    • @grayfurnaceman
      @grayfurnaceman  3 роки тому

      Generally, if the rollout switch opens, its a rollout of flame which means a heat exchanger problem. Some of the Carrier furnaces from the early 2000s have been recalled for rust outs.

    In the video, you mentioned another video with other error codes. Were you ever able to create that video? On my Bryant Pulse 90i, I get a 44, and then a 41. I have the blower fan set to be on continuously, and it is running. I have powered the furnace off, and back on, but I still get the same errors.

      do you have any recommendations for the codes 44 & 41 ?

    • @grayfurnaceman
      @grayfurnaceman  8 років тому

      If you have an ECM, those are motor failure codes. However, you say your motor is running. Are the burners not coming on?
      GFM

    • @cityindoorstorage4713
      @cityindoorstorage4713 8 років тому

      The burners are not coming on. The exhaust fan never comes on.
      It does seem as if the blower motor would surge somewhat (speed up, and slow down slightly).
      I do have 2 of the same furnaces. So after reading several posts about the ECMs being at fault, I swapped the ECMs from the working furnace to the nonworking furnace. The furnace started to work (I have not put the nonworking ECM into the working furnace yet). I am planning on putting the nonworking ECM into the working furnace, in case it might have been just a poor connection.
      Another thing I was wondering is could the SG348 thermistors be the problem, even though I don't see signs of it breaking down (no hot spots, and still intact)?
      If nothing else, I at least I know that I can just replace the entire ECM, although it looks to be a pretty spendy item.

      Quality Cheaper Heating & Air The camera is a Sony HDR SR11. Its getting a little old now but still performs well for 1080P. I edit the videos with iMovie in a MAC. I find the MAC and iMovie to be the easiest for editing. Lighting is also very important and mostly the more the better and from different angles. It won't be too long until we will be using 4K to make acceptable videos. Hope this helps.GFM

    I just saw what I forgot when I changed the board. I left that small jumper plug in bottom left hand corner of board on the old board. Inducer fan came on, igniter, then the burners, but it looks like low flames and inducer fan doesn't go off, and next ting it blew my 3 amp fuse. It says " might have a low voltage short"

Today it starts off with code 21 for about 20 seconds and then the blower starts low then goes on high, and gives me a 44 code. I retired from HVAC after 25 yrs. 9 yrs. ago. I guess I forgot a few things. The filters are out so there's no air obstruction. BEATS me what it is. I checked all limit switches. Model # of furnace is 58MVP080-14

    a common problem that results in this code are also air exhaust and intake pipe outdoor openings being obstructed by snow and ice

      Certainly true. One of the first checks is to the outdoor openings, especially if the snow has been blowing.
