Semaj Morgan a few weeks ahead of this game said Davis Warren has a cannon and he's been timed running 22 mph which imo makes him an elite athlete. The kid had he not got sick was gonna be a top recruit. He's well now and looks the part , similar to JJ imo and the closet to a pro QB prospect as we have.
Warren looked really good this past weekend. It's hard to judge who should start based on a spring game but as fans we don't get many opportunities to see the guys play for ourselves. Based on what I saw, I would be a lot more comfortable with Warren starting than Orji. I love Orji and he should get playing time but I think he would limit the offense more than Warren, especially in the pass game.
@@jackpackage4278 I was watching him warmup and throwing 50 yard throws to the end zone. That 50 yard TD that was in the air for 55 yards was impressive. It was windy , cold .. that was very impressive in that weather. On a good summer day he probably throw that thing 60 yards in the air.
Things I learned while watching the Michigan Spring Game: - This team is still very physical and they like to hit - pads were poppin'! - Donovan Edwards looks more like RB1 and a leader more than he has thus far in his career. - Tyler Morris and Frederick Moore are definitely the next men up at the X and Y receiver positions. (Semaj Morgan will be in the slot) - There is more overall talent in the QB room than most fans realize. - The defense is a solid two-deep and should be one of the best in the country once again. - There are a few first and second year defenders that look like they will be ready to compete for playing time this Fall. Aymeric Koumba, Enow Etta, Jyaire Hill, and DJ Waller Jr are redshirt freshmen that look like they have futures as starters on this team. Dominic Nichols and Cole Sullivan are two true freshmen that passed the eye test as well. It will be fun to see how they develop.
Two time Michigan grad and 40 year season ticket holder here. I think there's a long way to go on the competition with Denegal and Tuttle in the mix as well. In any case, we have to manage expectations with Michigan having a new coaching staff and many new starters on both sides of the ball. Moreover, we have the new members of the Big 10 plus Texas and the schedule is going to be challenging. I believe if Michigan goes 8-4 or 9-3 it would be a successful year. I do like all of our QB candidates and it's phenomenal Davis Warren has come as far as he has. If he becomes the starter, every Michigan fan would be extremely happy for him! Go Blue!
I know it was just a spring game but imo Denegal is out of the race. He looked really rough throwing 2 bad picks over the span of like 5 plays, he just looks flustered a lot of the time. I wish Tuttle had been in the game because I thought he was solid when he got in last year. just based on the Spring game, Warren looks to be the guy.
@@jackpackage4278 - I think all QBs can have an off day. Denegal is a great athlete and so is Tuttle. I like the competition because it will make them all better. Kind regards
@@jivepatrol6833 I think Denegal, Tuttle, and Warren were all high 4 ⭐️ recruits. Warren missed his senior year but before that he was listed as 4 or 5 ⭐️ so it’s not like we don’t have talent.
Orgi is a good runner and a strong arm but no touch. Warren has nice touch on the ball and good qb instincts. I think they'll use both for a while but Warren will win the job
If Orji isn't the starter, then Moore needs to figure out how to get that guy on the field. He's too talented to sit all season. Maybe WR is his calling...
Been saying this since JJ left that Davis Warren is Michigan next qb. He is a mix of Cade and JJ. He will be the starter by week 3 hopefully before. Had Warren not gotten sick he would have been a very high 4 star possibly a 5 star
Whenever they try to sell a big strong QB, its always followed by- "he just needs to improve his passing accuracy." Give it to the accurate passer, please. We have running backs.
Michigan's offense as it stands requires a true dual-threat QB. That said, this is going to be a spotted bag of tricks at best… but not at all a bad place to be in. Orji looks fantastic, he’s got the same things he’s gotta work on this slowly getting better, Davis Warren did step up, but he didn’t step out of all we expected he stepped up in where we knew he would be… but I like the kid a lot. As for Denegal, if anyone makes a break for the transfer portal, I’m predicting he’ll be first… he’s ancillary at this point, but he has snaps... the Warren has been there for a while, and Warren doesn’t - and as for the true freshman Davis, he only had one snap so, for me what do you want to say? In my mind. The opportunities are going to circle around and therefore in my mind the pecking order is going to be: 1. Orji: He’s the only game ready dual threat quarterback on the roster. 2. Warren: his biggest flaw is that he cannot rush to save his life, which was the same problem with Tom Brady, if he could show to at least be mobile like McCarthy, he would be JJ Jr. But because he can’t and can only scramble that’s something to consider, because that’s not what Michigan offensive identity is now formed up under JJ McCarthy, to keep the same thing going you have to by default make Alex the QB 3. Denegal: he is perfect for every pocket passer situation other than Michigan. That said, do you keep him? IDK, truth is he’s ancillary at the point. 4. Davis: he’s a true freshman with one snap during spring game, he knows he’s gonna be warming a bench for a minute, give me a few snaps throughout the season, I just get him ready because he is a dual threat quarterback. So what do I think Michigan’s projected depth may look like? 1. Orji - the offense is already built around what he can do - well 2. Warren - from no scholarship walk on, to a seat at the table- he should be thankful. 3. Denegal - no I believe he’s probably going to be the first to hit the transfer portal, if the opportunity presents itself because he’s really ancillary at the end of the day, if he stays, he’s the most pocket passer ready. 4. Tuttle - because of his injury, Davis will probably get snap before him, but if he can work it out, he will be the go to option for third string I think what Sherrone Moore is gonna end up doing is exactly what Jim Harbaugh did when you had bubble quarterbacks, where they’re right on the bubble, play them both until The bubble bursts, and one advances At any rate, the thing to be proud of is that Michigan’s QB bench is stacked and the defense looked awesome… M Go Blue🏈

Where do you get the idea that they need a "true dual threat QB"? JJ only ran when we absolutely needed him to, he was rarely a threat to defenses in the run game.
What game was everyone watching in these comments it's a Spring game Davis Warren was good in the fourth quarter throwing against freshmen and walk ons. We've all seen how Michigan quarterbacks are brought up in the system just like JJ Orji has gotten playing time in big games and in big situations he also showed that he can throw the ball extremely well. I love Michigan I hope the best quarterback wins I'm just saying I think you guys are a little out of reach with saying Warren's the next quarterback
Warren looked by far the best. Jayden, is too young, Orgi I don’t see him being able to read defenses & wonky mechanics, Tuttle is the only other option. It’ll be those two battling it out, with Orgi as the wildcat like last year.
This is crazy...Orji is the only QB that has been in on real wars on the battlefield but talk like this festering would have one believe Warren is the second coming of JJ. Stop the cap!
