Great review! Delirium Tremens is just one of those beers. It has such a unique flavor and feel. I would imagine it's polarizing, but there's a reason it won best beer in the world when it came out. Glad to see such a favorable review despite it being can conditioned. Obviously draught is preferable, and I'm sure bottle conditioned is second best. Wondering if you've ever heard of the limited edition Delirium Black. Never tasted it, but would love to see your review.
when i tried this recently i thought it wasnt as good as dragonmead final absolution from warren MI -i was wrong. final absolution is a Belgian style tripple ale that is also highly prized, so it tastes very similar. but its actually TOO strong at about 10% abv. Delerium has the balance correct. I'm about to need a belgian waffle.
I passed out once at a pool party from Delirium. It's too good. I also got to visit the Huyghe Brewery a few years ago. After the tour and tastings, I fell asleep on the bus ride to Ghent. In my confusion, I forgot to buy a ticket. I ended up paying €175 fine for fare evasion 😬.
There you go! HAHA! That's a story. Thank you for that. Sorry it happened to you. That's what you get with the Delirium! Better than the time I didn't have my passport studying abroad trying to go from Czech to Slovakia. Not a fun time...
the only other times ive come across this range of drinkability with this 8%abv or higher...is when cryo or hybrid hopping is a part of the equation and even THEN/THERE....the ppl that have tinkered with such processes arent always capable of offering a proper/balanced option/beer....a good majority uses the cryo/hybrid etc hopping aspect as a selling point while also ruining these aspects of flavor/abv profiles by adding their own twists be it fruit/wet finishes in flavor profiles or malt/spicing it in their own way to somewhat contrast/offer something "different" in their portfolio...vs realistically offering something well balanced/drinkable that at times blows you away not in any MAJOR ways but just amazes you at how drinkable/balanced something could be thats also high ABV. We do get tired of drinking "fruit/hazys" or double/imperial IPA/Stouts...from time to time...a beer like Delirium stands out for those moments as a vacation from those over hopped/spiced/malted/fruity flavor profiles that exist merely as an aspect of happenstance.
@@DarwinsBeerReviews Im a black and tan and blacksmith fan. If a local spot happens to have a nitro stout and a flavored brown ale its a pretty good time. If im lucky enough i can do a black and tan....double nitro with a coffee/espresso stout and a vanilla blonde ale...its pretty smooth. Otherwise i dont session those double imperial stouts at home its more of a starter beer to get me up there.
Can the teku make it more difficult to identify aromas for an untrained palate in very expressive beers? Like its so concentrated you might miss some nuance?
so I tried duvel, la chouffe, and delerium tremens all this week wanting to see what I liked the most. Honestly, I feel like La Chouffe was the most balanced.
Drank a small bottle in the week before Christmas. Hadn’t had it in years. The carb in a bottle might have been a bit more than what I see here from your can, but certainly not carbed like Duvel It is crazy drinkable. More young Americans should be introduced to this beer and beers like it Edit: dumb beer holiday story. My best friend blames Golden Monkey for his worst Christmas Eve to date. We’ve been calling Golden Monkey “The Beer that Ruined Christmas” for at least 5 years now just because the poor guy drank 6 golden monkeys thinking they tasted like Allagash whites and wouldn’t get him in trouble. Boy was he wrong
@@DarwinsBeerReviews yes i drank a four pack of 16oz on an empty stopmach. thats about 10 standard drinks. i only pukled a little. overall still very clean beer vs say american malt liquors.

I don't see that in market, but will maybe do Noel. Cheers!
I should revisit this ale, since it's been years since I've reviewed it.
Good luck and enjoy!
Popped open a Delirium Noel over the holidays. Haven’t had that in ages. Was still awesome. 94/100! lol
Noel was on my Advanced Cicerone test. One to try out again!

Hope you find that waffle!

Glad you enjoy it and finding that kind of drinkable high ABV for one is a hard task.

Check this video out. It does a comparison of many glasses.

Well guess what, you're getting a surprise. I'm posting a La Chouffe (can) review right now. Check it out!
Would love to see a blind comparison with this, Golden Monkey, La Chouffe, and Cigar City Cosmic Crown
Duvel too right?! Wait, that's wayyyy too much alcohol... I would have to have someone else with me.

Even better. Victory has stories about staff... Kids were produced because of this beer...
I think it may have more carb in the bottle, but I haven't seen those in my local since pre covid.
@@frankrizzo2025 Good point. Possible the bottles are better carbed.
yeah this beer rocks.
It is dangerous too!

Guess the temp against a thermometer!!
Lets go! That's a great idea for a video!
It's not normal!
Wait a sec...that's a different beer.
Wait what?
I prefer the Nocturnum.
That's a good one. I should revisit that sometime.
lol doggo at 2:10
He's a cute sweet dummy.
