Battletech is one my favorite games of the last decade. Great combat, great use of lore, enough RP to immerse yourself in the setting, and a fantastic soundtrack with good enough visuals to carry the action.
I had a coworker that told me the lore of the entire Battletech/Mechwarrior universe over an 8-hour work shift. I’d, uh, I’d love a full series of the game.
Good on you for listening. Not many people will listen to other people talk about their hobby. Certainly has to make most jobs go by much quicker. I wish my coworkers talked about anything interesting at all.
If anyone wants more of Battle Tech/Mech Warrior franchise content, I highly recommend Baradul. I got really hooked on the franchise because of how well thought the lore and mechanic was. In MechWarrior Online, mech have different number of SRM laucher holes. Like let's say you only have 6 SRM holes, if you put SRM 6, all six rocket would fire at the same time, but you only have 2 SRM holes, the rocket would be fired in sets of 2.
If you haven't you should take a look at the advanced 3062 mod. It moves the timeline forward to 3062 from 3025 adds alot of advanced tech opens up the map to the rest of the inner sphere and the pentagon worlds (the pentagon worlds are clan space) and gives you the ability to field 3 lances including tanks and battle armor
@@taylorzuercher4764 Fair enough. I haven't played the mods so I don't know what's possible with them. Most alpha I could get out of a Mech in the base game was 864 with 3 UAC/20 in an Annihilator. Although 4 are possible that doens't leave you with enough tonnage for armour, heat sinks and jumpjets. For a sniper I liked for 4 Gauss Cannons.
Strategy tip not shown in this but good for all who want to check it out. Armor rotation. Mechs have torso articulation, hence firing arcs. Pravus's shadowhawk took a lot of damage to one side. As such, can move to try and keep armor side facing the enemy mechs. So right side stripped of armor? Move so left side faces. Keep big guns and ammo from being exposed, etc. So can move, keep vulnerable away, but can somewhat turn to shoot.
The Battletech 3062 Mod bro! Oh my goodness, I don't normally play mods with games, but there is a major exemption I make for this game add tanks, artillery, battle armor, on company level gameplay and OMG the border gore, you get to legit help a faction take over the map.... *sigh* so good... Even allows you to play the main game, adds a cut mission, and the story makes so much more sense.
Great game and I have a few hours in it. My final lance was a "Steiner scout lance". The lightest Mech being 95 tons but they are still as fast initiativewise as mediums and thanks to Jump Jet somewhat mobile and flexible. And pretty much anything that gets spotted evaporates. All of them have of course full armour or close to it and enough heat sinks to handle most of their weapons. Cyclops-CP-10-Z mainly for the Battlecomputer that gives bonus initiative. 6 M-Laser++. Get's a bit hot after a while. The other Mechs are a bit situational but here's my favourites: Annihilator with 4 Gauss++. 360 Alpha Damage and no heat. Annihilator with 3 UAC/20. A bit short ranged and the 6 tons of ammunition don't last very long and it gets hot quickly but it's difficult to argue with 864 alpha damage. Atlas II with 4 ER-PPC++. No ammunition issues and stays somewhat cool but "only" 280 alpha but still great at sniping heads or burning out center torsos of lighter Mechs. Attlas II with 5 Snub-PPC. The shotgun approach. Stays surpringly cool despite 132 heat on alpha strike thanks to Heat Exchanger++ and lots of Double Heat Sinks. 425 alpha and the same for stability damage. Stalker-3F with 4 LRM-15++. The lightest of the bunch and is only taken if I feel the need for artillery. I've also experimented with the Bull Shark but didn't like it very much.
Normally I use your channel to find fun games, it's a bit wild seeing you play a game I'm already extremely familiar with for a change! Assault mechs are awesome, but I will always rock my Marauder lance, such a strong mech.
Always happy to see this great game get some coverage, even years after its release and especially before HBS' new release. Definitely excited for that (although I'd have loved another Shadowrun game or a Battletech 2).
Also of note there are a number of mods available. "Vanilla" mods are Hyades Rim, Battletech Extended and Battletech XAI. The other best known mods are far more extensive and make many changes to the game. Battletech Advanced and Rogue Tech (there are video tutorials on how to install these.. WATCH them first!). Rogue tech is semi cannon,, the rest are conon other then Hyades Rim which is a rewrite of the stock story. There are also a lot of "sub mods" that can allow you to tweak the game in a lot of ways. This is an awesomely good tactical game.
To people who want to play this again with a fresh coat of paint, I highly recommend the Hyades Rim mod It makes a whole new campaign with a new story, its very interesting and can be quite challenging
In my game, I lost Behemoth while she was piloting my heaviest mech. Full health. While she was in trees. Just blew her head off with a barrage of those big rail guns on the first turn of engagement.
