Hey y’all. It’s been a tough past 2 days. Had a mass shooting where I lived and in the nearby towns. I think 22 people in total were killed, which doesn’t sound like alot, but here in Maine we live in small communities and basically everyone knows eachother. The shooter is dead now. But my heart still aches for the families of the killed and especially the families of the 8 children that lost their lives. All of this was done by one man. I love you all. Thanks for tuning in. I lived in Okinawa for 3 years and the base I lived in had a hospital that had a painting of the thousand yard stare. So I'd sit across from the painting and I'd look at the man in the eyes. And all I could feel was a mix of terror and pure despair.

Alzheimer's is a horrible thing. I miss my grandma. She was taken from me and my family from this monster a year ago. We all felt dread, but my mother especially felt the most impact. She died just a few months before turning 70. There was nothing we could do. Her speech was already unitelligible, and her health was declining at a rapid rate. When we tried speaking to her, it sounded like she was a little child, yearning for freedom, gibberish coming out of her mouth. Then, a call came from a family member, saying that she was dead. Her last words to me were "Handsome boy". I was only eleven at the time she died. Eleven. Those words she said to me I was five. Man, I was so innocent at that time, not knowing the troubles she had been facing, and those words were the last words I could understand from her. It's inevitable that my mother gets it...
