    Good presentation. My fav presenter on the eruption.

    That last part is the most interesting of all. It also shows that there may not be new lava and that as soon as the magma chamber end up lower than the east rift zone this may end.

    At 6 minutes during his presentation, he answered a question that I had previously posted a week and half ago (June 26 flyover) in reference to subsidence vs increased output.

  • @anomaloushoward9121

    Since the summit magma reservoir is being fed from a deeper reservoir, I would like to hear how the "shock wave" might affect that part of the process.
    geologyin (dot) com/2018/05/whats-beneath-kilauea-hawaiis-most (dot) html That deeper reservoir also feeds up to Mauna Loa's summit. Very often, several hours after a collapse event, earthquakes at 20 mile+ depths begin under and around Pahala to the west. That's probably the deeper reservoir reacting. There's ALSO a rift zone there.

    Wow! I wonder if they will be able to tie the subsidence/displacement to output volume/pressure in the near future. That's beginning to sound like some real predictive potential. I imagine they'd need some serious drone based sensory systems to calculate displacement volume in a matter of minutes in order to announce their findings within 30 minutes to one hour of a two hour window but that sounds feasible. Very interesting ;)

      Check out the USGS site or YT channel. They have tons of video footage from drones posted; the drones are flown, especially by the crater, whenever the air is clear enough to do so. Super cool!

  • @SCW1060
    @SCW1060 6 років тому +1

    You're right. But no one knows what will happen at the crater after this event stops but my guess is that fissure 8 will become the main vent for Kilaeua and the summit and Puu oo will stay dormant

    Very simple conclusion. Looks like a pretty secure constant flow and output of magma in F8 is now happening, just wait for a pressure drop of the magma in the core to the surface, resulting in a lesser feeding to the east rif zone until that tube is cooling and closes itself. Simple...

  • @joek511

    been saying that all along, it's a giant blast furnace, each drop at the summit will produce more lava, it melts in that giant blast furnace. As it does a new void begins to open. this is indicated by the increase in quake activity. The void grows until it once again gives and the cycle repeats.
    I would expect this to go on until the inner most, and lowest point of the crater = the size of the Lava pool at the bottom.

    • @sirmoke9646
      @sirmoke9646 6 років тому +2

      Except no such thing was said in the presentation. The weight of the collapsed material puts pressure on the magma in the chamber resulting in the lava being temporarily pushed out at a higher rate at the fissure. Nobody said one word about melting and furnaces.

    @mademoisellekaya1438 6 років тому

    I question.. is the sand that drops into the Volcano turned out to be the a piece of the lava that comes out of fissure 8? Does that sand fill the reservoir of lava 😕 ?

    • @sirmoke9646
      @sirmoke9646 6 років тому +1

      No. It just creates pressure resulting in a temporary higher flow rate at the fissure.

    Las paredes de lava estan colapsando, el humo blanco a los costados del río de lava ya no se veían, la lava encontró camino por debajo de las paredes porque su centro aún estaba caliente.
    La fisura 8 será un nuevo crater, no dejará de expulsar lava.
    Recomendación: a unas cuantas millas de los muros de lava abran zanjas profundas para que cuando se desborde el río tengan un contenedor que ayude a disminuir la mancha de biodiversidad quemada.
    Bendiciones

      itsjudystube hi, direct of google translator
      the lava walls are collapsing, the white smoke at the costas of the lava river were no longer visible, the lava found its way under the walls because the center was still hot.
      Fissure 8 will be a new crater, it will not stop ejecting lava.
      Recommendation: a few miles from the river, make deep ditches, so that when the river overflows have a container for lava and decrease the bi-diversity burned.

  • @MRBIGEEful

    So in a nutshell every time there's an earthquake and the ground drops that means it's feeding itself creating more magma more lava coming out. Till all the surf ground is gone from the volcano I don't see this stopping anytime soon.

      @joek511 6 років тому +2

    • @christianbuczko1481
      @christianbuczko1481 6 років тому +1

      That assumes an infinite volume of magma. In reality the magma chamber will empty in time, and the surface which is collapsing should form a plug and end the eruption. Of course nobody is certain how long it will go on which is what's causing confusion. My feeling is it will end early august, which puts it about 3months total and approximately similar to the eruption in the 1920's.

    • @wyrmhand
      @wyrmhand 6 років тому +1

      One or two weak ago when they had press at HVO they guessed that ~1/3 of the top chamber had been drained of lava. So maybe 3-4 more moth to go.

      Ian Simpson it's kinda like a foot pump to inflate your rubber raft. So when you step on the pump it sends air down the tube. This sends magma down the East rift zone I'm pulses

    The heavens and the earth declare Gods glory. Repent and turn back to the Lord. Confess with thy mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the grave and you will be saved. The wage of sin is death, but there is a free gift from God of eternal life through Jesus our Lord. There is no other name under heaven to be saved by... Otherwise perish and suffer an eternal separation from God in the lake of fire and be tormented forever.
    I will close with, where is their false god now...it cannot save them.

    • @xaiano794
      @xaiano794 6 років тому +2

      For many years now, in fact all measurements and units in the USA are based on the metric system, there is no imperial standard anymore. It makes calculations far easier requiring less work and producing fewer errors.

    • @junipersnow1
      @junipersnow1 6 років тому +2

      Thanks guys, I live in the States (Mainlandmostly), Im a Home Contractor we Buy 4'x8' sheets plywood, but Okay I see we are referring to Science…..Would that mean US Building industry will start selling everything by meters…..Thanks for comment but have not experienced that besides a scientist on the Big Island. Actually thinking about it, Ive worked on the Islands a few years here and there and I did buy a Metric tape measure for working with products from Asia or Australia. Wonder if US Building industry will change in time?

      jBird When I was in elementary school in the 70's, we were told that the US was going to switch to metric, but apparently they completely gave up on that outside of the sciences so I wouldn't worry about construction switching to metric any time soon.

    Money. USGS, please tell us the truth about your money situation. Will the USGS really have enough money to continue to closely monitor this volcanic irruption? You must be spending money at a much higher rate than planned. When will your money run out? How will you get more? From where? What happens if you run out of money and can no longer monitor what’s going on?

    Applause? Why? This isnt an entertainment event. Wtf?

    • @Sinikka79
      @Sinikka79 6 років тому +20

      Maybe a "Thank you for a good, and informative, presentation"? It's curteous to applause, and acknowledge, when someone has done good. That is also the reason for giving an applause during an entertaining event, but, as in this case, is also used at conferences, presentations etc.

    • @xaiano794
      @xaiano794 6 років тому +9

      chrswool it's a collective way of thanking a presenter, were you homeschooled because you clearly don't understand social norms...

    • @chrswool
      @chrswool 6 років тому

      Xaiano ive never once witnessed or heard any applause when a newscaster, a police authority, press secretary, teacher or anyone for that matter, give information that is supposed to be provided for public safety concerns. This is a public hearing for the release of public safety, i guess all you generation E (entitlement) folks consider this a matter to applaud, but i come from a generation where this type of public speaking doesnt warrant an applaud. Its just information, not a forum to entertain, or is it possible that you dont understand the difference?

    • @chrswool
      @chrswool 6 років тому

      Sinikka79 the persons job is to provide this information. He is not doing this out of courtesy. He is supposed to provide this info for public safety reasons. His applaud is the salary he receives via tax funding, no need for extra trophies. I guess you grew up in the "all participants receive a trophy" generation. Simply put, he did his homework, then forgot it, then winged and did fine job. But, applauding this is not needed. A handshake or pat on the back afterwards would be sufficient.

    • @sloth0jr
      @sloth0jr 6 років тому +6

      It's standard courtesy at business or informational meetings to thank the presenter for their time and for a presentation well done, usually via applause. I don't know where you got the notion that applause is only for entertainment - the definition of applause is "approval or praise expressed by clapping."

      Ohhhh my goodness... it's the great one!
      lol didn't I tell you earlier to get some rest hun?
      😂
      My mouth can get me in more trouble sometimes🙊
      And when this mama hasn't been sleeping well...well. Tread lightly?
      I have not even left the ranch for town in 3 days because everytime I go to town for errands lately, I go home hurting someone's damn feelings!
      I don't mean to!
      Either I'm just a bitch...or some people need to grow some thicker skin?? I don't know lol
      Which is why I very rarely comment on anything!
      Always watching...
      mostly on Dutchsinse feed! Lol
      Because I want accuracy and because I get that watching all your reports, I also expect accurate information!
      Ya spoil me! 😅
      This man is speaking, trembling!and about to shit his pants in fear, and I suppose I would be the same if I were standing near a Moab that is going off, and people were looking to me for answers and accurate reports, I wouldn't be downplaying everything all of the time!!
      And I am just soooo sick of of it.
      We know some facts..and it doesn't look good!
      Here's a factual question...why is it that the USGS has been seen on several occasions, not reporting any evidence of earthquake activity? Or reporting seismic events, then going back constantly to change scientific data to always downplay seismic events and quakes?
      We constantly ask this question.
      Why has no answered asking questions about safety and planning or prepping or any type safety drills?
      I totally and completely understand why it's not ever a good idea to instill fear or fear monger!
      Panicking does not help any type of situation! And unnecessary fear and panic does not ever need to be implied...
      But, if there are people in danger and people do need to evacuate, even for a short time, well I certainly hope it will be announced without hesitation.
      And what about dangerous gases and sulfur dioxide emissions reports?
      They haven't said anything at all about that in weeks. Charts? Graphs? Announcing anything?
      And I do believe and think that the people at hpo have been amazing!
      God bless all of them and everyone there! and I've been praying daily for everyone for Hawaii!
      And praying for the safety and lives of Guatemalans, and everyone in Japan and New Zealand, South Africa and all those that have been affected or taken by all these volcanic eruptions and devastating events.
      Terrible.
      When I see these things happening and cannot help it sucks.
