I watched this last week. It was amazing!
it was really good, but i’m just worried that the veronica in this performance is damaging her voice.
I was there and felt the exact same, sounded tired :(
She was the mic at West End live were terrible the actors practically

Miracle performed I Say No five times that day (3 Live/2 warm up). She’s amazing. Her voice can take it
I never understand why they make Heather chandler dance full out when she’s the main singer. Her vocals suffer as a result.

I saw this west end cast yesterday! Best cast for me. Amazing, miracle is great, Elliot is perfect, the heathers, everyone, perfection. The west end live video doesn't do them justice, if you have a chance please go see them live! update: saw it twice can't live without it, I'm so sad its gone

I’ve seen both casts and in my opinion tour is better
I saw the tour cast in bath in March - and I'm also seeing them again in August in Cardiff. They're amazing. I LOVE the tour cast. I got to speak to one of them after the show and she said they just have this really lovely relationship backstage. She said it's one of the nicest companys she's been in and the reason they look like they have such great chemestry is because they genuinely all like each other and get on well together. So hyped for August.
Saw the show in Norwich last Tuesday. Went with my daughter and was totally blown away how good they were. Completely believed the chemistry between them all.
The tour cast is incredible. We had understudy Veronica and Heather C on the night i saw it and I didn't even realise because of how amazing they were!
@@beckyc8104 I've been on the tour twice and both times got amazing understudies (Summer Priest u/s Heather duke and Eleanor Walsh u/s veronica)The cast is amazing and I'll most likely go on closing night even if I have to travel from new lol.

I'm sure they would've got the tour cast down for WEL if possible like they did in 2021 but they couldn't so they compromised by using covers to make up a second set of heathers

@@maddy1847_fly bibi might be a third cover though! usually the cast isn't allowed to announce additional covers until they go on for the role (eg georgia i-d couldn't tell us about covering martha until she actually went on for her), and this doesn't really count as going on for the role
@@raantaaronah that's not it. Martha was an emergency cover for her - as a non- plus sized actress they wouldn't put her in that role unless there were absolutely no other options. The previous cast all announced their additional covers e.g. May as Chandler, Bayley as Veronica and Duke

@@maddy1847_flyThey don’t. Bibi is 1st cover Martha and Ms Fleming, and they're 2nd or 3rd cover Duke (I believe). So they don't cover Heather McNamara, so it’s likely their outfit was a last-minute plan
She's not a cover for that track, so the outfit was likely put together at the last minute

I saw the tour in Bradford and that cast was amazing, these were good but I think I prefer the touring cast, idk some of their voices sounded off here but maybe they were just nervous or their voices were tired idk.

Ailsa sounded terrible in her WEL too. It's like that for most performances. The sound quality is terrible. Please also note that this song is Veronica being angry at JD and putting him in his place. Miracle chose to play it as straight anger and Veronica having fully enough of him unlike most who are still kind of into him and relenting a little at times. This is technically more faithful to the movie and the original scene in the musical. Especially when she grabbed him and coldly told him off.
That said, I'm sure she sounds better live with a proper mic and a familiar environment!
I went to see the west end cast to see if they were really as bad as the trailer (and this performance) makes them look… and yeah… can see why they picked the touring cast to play to thousands… this is my least favourite Veronica. She mumbles a lot… I had Americans ask me to clarify some plot points as they didn’t get it from what she was saying 😳

I Rlly feel like feel like Veronica is trying to sound like other Veronica’s singing this it doesn’t sound like her natural voice
I've seen Miracle as Veronica three times now, and she actually doesn't try to sound like any other actress who has played Veronica. You can see the odd moment here and there where she's drawn inspiration from past Veronicas, but other than that she really makes the role her own. At least, that's my opinion, but I respect your opinion too.

@@_miaxx I wouldn't judge her on this performance she is incredible in the show. I've found west end live performances of shows to be a bit hit and miss because its outdoors and the sound quality isn't great so the performers have to try and make themselves heard so it does sound like they are straining their voices at times 🤷♀️

Also, Miracle are you okay? I say no sounded so strained, almost as if you were hurting your voice while singing? While it may be stylistic eg Lydia and Dead Mom, it didn’t sound right…

I have seen the current TOP cast live. Miracle sounds so much better live in the show than she does here. The WEL sound system always does the performers dirty
See it live she is the strongest vocally yet of any veronica except maybe christina

Not sure about that Veronica :/ she seems to over exaggerate too much.. much preferred Erin/Carrie etc.. but I know west end live isn’t the best when it comes to the singing

@@kane_heath Even Carrie was "too much". I think it's just the directing. Veronica is getting more and more cartoony as time passes. The Off-Broadway version was at the limit of it already IMO and ever since the first UK revival, they've been pushing the musical as a whole as more campy and Veronica as overly dorky. Miracle is not the worst on in that aspect. Furthermore, her outward anger in I Say No is believable and I really like that choice. It's a redundant song. That scene was Veronica being coldly furious at JD and leaving before the song. The song had an emotional structure similar to Seventeen which... Isn't good. It's repetitive and we don't need Veronica go through those emotions AGAIN only to relent somewhat. Miracle's Veronica is basically yelling at JD. The part where she grabs his trenchcoat, comes close to him and calmly, coldly, delivers her speech is an amazing choice. It's not the usual "Veronica being nice and reflective", it's Veronica telling him off and calling him out. That outburst explains JD's breakdown later and it's understandable with everything Veronica has gone through.
Plus her acting is good for people far away and I'd reckon that she doesn't move that much with her arms on stage. Though even if she did, it's mostly a solo and not really a "scene". Time is mostly frozen so that the actress can go wild and Veronica lay herself bare. The fact that this is a angry rant gives Miracle a lot of leeway.
Vocally, I really like the riff on the last "I Say No". Very pretty. Her voice sounds tired though. It's a hard role and this song is difficult especially when she does it with anger. We don't need get another Veronica getting her voice destroyed!
Who’s the other cast of the heathers (apart from current west end cast)?
this is two sets of heathers made up from the west end cast principals and covers! olivia barnett-legh (principal chandler), kia paris walcott (principal duke) and carly burns (2nd cover mac) and georgia anderson (1st cover chandler), georgia iudica davies (1st cover duke) and bibi jay (emergency cover / possible 3rd cover mac). there is also a tour cast at the moment (previously they did a WEL where they had west end and tour casts together) but they weren't able to perform this time

Great cast and voices and love heathers but why can’t they cast JDs who look vaguely age appropriate and not like a teacher. I feel awkward as if I’m watching a teacher seduce a student.

@@annikabecht5555 Ellis is the principal JD but he's not been on as JD the last couple of weeks. Elliott (JD in this video) is his understudy, and is usually in the ensemble

Tbh Same, The cast is talented but but the way they sing isn’t my style ! I much prefer the OG West end cast, Especially cause ‘ I Say No ‘ was written with Carrie in mind and her vocal rage in mind , and hearing someone with a similar yet not rage singing it is odd..
yeah same , and personally i’m not a big of a fan of miracle’s veronica😞 ik the sound team played a part in how THIS sounds, but i’ve seen clips of her in the theatre and i’m just not a fan of her voice

Because he's the cover, not actually JD. For some reason the actual JD hasn't been in the show I believe for nearly two weeks.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the veronica's voice? Just my opinion but it's nasally and whiny and sometimes she just uses weird embouchure when she sings and sometimes her belting sounds unhealthy. Maybe its because she is trying to do an american accent but just my opinion!
I think it's the accent. In video of her singing with her actual accent it seems less nasal. If you haven't already I would also recommend listening to a boot audio of her, considering west end live audio isn't always the best.

When your voice is that badly damaged you tend to over compensate with pushing and over twanging which causes the nasality many people are commenting on. If your voice is that badly damaged or worn down you should not be performing…
