  • The start of sea trials of Ukraine's first Turkish-built corvette, Hetman Ivan Mazepa, is an exciting development. This modern warship is a concrete example of defense cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey. The corvette is equipped with advanced technology weapon systems such as the 35mm GÖKDENİZ Close Air Defense System produced by ASELSAN. It is also equipped with STAMP 12.7mm remote-controlled weapon systems mounted on the port and starboard sides of the ship.
During the sea acceptance tests, all systems and performance of Hetman Ivan Mazepa will be examined in detail. If successful, the corvette will join the Ukrainian navy in 2024 and make a significant contribution to the country's maritime defense capabilities.
This project is part of Ukraine's efforts to modernize its naval forces. A navy equipped with modern warships and state-of-the-art weapon systems will enhance Ukraine's maritime sovereignty and defense capacity. It will also further strengthen defense industry relations between Turkey and Ukraine and contribute to maritime security in the region.
The start of sea trials by Hetman Ivan Mazepa is a successful example of defense cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation allows both countries to combine their defense industry experience and technological capabilities to develop more effective and modern defense systems. The successful commissioning of the corvette will be an important step to enhance maritime security in the Black Sea and strengthen Ukraine's naval defense capabilities.

Not sure this is a real story. I wondered why Turkey would build a ship knowing that Ukraine is broke and could never pay for it so I looked it up. All I found was Turkey going to build two ships for Ukraine in 2020 and another article about a ship in 2023 but said it wouldn't be built because of the war. When I find something that looks strange I like to investigate not relying on a single source because to many troll are out their! Like a article about the new 6th generation fighter that has nothing to report on. Someone said it was to top secret that the government won't release anything about it even what it looks like, sounds like bull to me!

Hetman Ivan Mazepa's first sail was delay several times because Ukraine change shoping list. For example, a helicopter hangar was not wanted (it is wanted now) and close air defense with a rapid fire cannon was not wanted (it is wanted now) The Ukrainians had requested two torpedo tubes in the initial design, they changed their minds and now want anti-ship missiles, etc. Let me give an example: The Pakistani Corvette, whose construction started at the same time as their ship, has already been delivered and is in service. As you can see, the delay is not financial, literally our Ukrainian friends are changing their minds a lot. Finally, Hetman Ivan Mazepa's rough work was completed and he set out on a sea voyage by ship. It is delivered within 4-5 months.
