I recently got an R13 with RTX 3080 and 64GB DDR5 RAM. I also had random restarts after I got it. All I did was switch power plan from balanced to performance and it fixed it 100%. Haven't had a single restart since. Thing is a BEAST.

I’ve got the same specs and am also having random restarts. Dell seems puzzled by it and has replaced the motherboard already and is coming soon to replace CPU and GPU. No one in tech support mentioned to check the power plan so I’ll do that when I get home. I notice the AWCC had been crashing a lot in the background so I wonder if that’s related.

I really wanted to love my R13, but I just couldn't justify paying so much for a PC that crashes so many times out of the box. I am sure that Dell has fixed this by now, but still. I ended up going with a Millennium from Origin pc, I would highly recommend it. The thermals are absolutely insane. My idle temp is 22 degrees with a gaming temp of around 50 to 60. I didn't realize how hot my R13 ran until a got a PC with a Corsair 5000d airflow case. They Dell improved a little bit over the R12 with thermals, but to be honest they really aren't that much better. I do praise Dell for allowing me to return my PC hassle free with no restocking fee. Dell is listening to their customers, but to me it just isn't enough to justify the price. The smaller things like the plastic side panel instead of tempered glass is also a pretty big deal to me. The lack of upgrade options for the PSU and the mobo is a huge deal, the OEM parts as well. I'm not trying to say that the R13 is a bad PC, but for the cost I found it best to go with a competitor.

I don't know a lot about computers tbh, but I just ordered this last night. I've been doing research on this specific tower, and it seems good as a starter, as it's my first desktop. I am upgrading to the R13 from an old Alienware laptop that I'm using right now, since it doesn't really do the job anymore. People always complain a lot about Alienware, but I personally haven't had bad experiences with it. (I can't say much since I don't really know anything about computers but...) The only thing I have found bothersome, or problematic was that I could literally fry an egg on my laptop if I try to play any games. 😂 Hopefully this Aurora doesn't get so hot!

I do not understand why anybody wouldn't just buy an NZXT, Cyberpower, iBuypower, ABS hell ANYTHING at all, than a Dell aka alienware (RIP). I honest to God saw some zoomer giving the HP alleged "gaming PC" rave reviews too. I realize probably several billion dollars in US tax money just went straight into these creatures' pockets on the exec boards of Dell and HP by clueless people buying HP and Dell "because they're well known brands." It's insulting is how bad it is. NuEconomics seems to be pay more for less.

    • @pandemicneetbux2110
      @pandemicneetbux2110 2 роки тому +2

@@novocainDaimon gamersnexus just did a new video on this. It's even worse than imagined. They outright gimped the power draw just in a vain effort to limit the thermal throttling, and even then it still thermal throttles, so what you're left with is an artificially underclocked CPU that runs hot af even with the jet engine on your desk and somehow achieved what no one thought to try, which is converting a 12900k into a 12700k.
Dell is just awful. Literally the only reason they even put a 12900k in it is to have the name so they can charge you $5000, the same reason they put a 120mm cooler which is the absolute cheapest, barest minimum just so they can claim "it's water cooled" and get worse cooling than anyone with a $50 air cooler would get too.
The funniest thing is I actually had a guy pretty much straight up say "lol poorfags they're just jealous," thus combining arrogance with stupidity and the failed realization that anybody with $3500 can straight up build a better PC and get better performance than this thing. Dell is practically being predatory at this point and parting fools with their money. There is no reason to buy this machine now that prices are falling and cards are available. Other than maybe you like the looks but, would you seriously drop five grand on something worse performance and value all around based entirely on the cheap $15 plastic wrapper on the cheap metal Optiplex case?

I didn't know I bought a plane ticket when I got this PC. Fans are EXTREMLY loud in 4K gaming (using thermal "balanced/auto" profile ~70°C GPU/CPU with high power/performance mode and OC off.
On thermal "performance" profile, it's an intolerable noise level at all time...) -- Cryo-Tech cooling btw --
For 1440p gaming, which I stick to now, it's loud enough to annoy me sometimes with almost same temps.
(if the game is only remotly demanding like Nioh2, HZD, Death Stranding, Destiny2, Doom Ethernal, RDR2, Anno1800 -all tested max. settings.) It's just not loud on stuff like Warframe tho... ancient games.
Noise level is acceptable during desktop usage tho...

i7-12700KF, 3080, 32GB, 2TB, with cRyO-tEcH cOOliNg - only added an 2.5"SSD, crashed 3 times randomly the first week while litterly doing nothing (afk or just downloading/streaming stuff), alfter updating every piece of sofware I think it stopped now.
Benchmark scores sure are high, even tho in comparsion, I'm underperforming in many cases with similar or lower hardware, which I'm pretty sure is cause OC is disabled/turned off.
There really has to be something done about cooling and the fans in my case.

The situation is the same since many many years. On the cooling side these desktops are a nightmare. I’ve seen laptops with better thermals and quieter fans. I have an R13 12900KF with a 3090. The heatsink fans work alright cooling the GPU but the memory junction temperature consistently hits 110 C under heavy use even with fans running at jet engine speeds. I have to leave the case open and have a stand fan blowing at the graphics card to stop it from thermal throttling. Even with that, I'm still hovering at 106 C. I also stripped the 3080 and put thermal paste between memory plate and vapor chamber so it makes contact. This way i dropped memory temps to 90C instead of 102C. Quick easy fix. You can eventually also change thermal pads under the backplate but is not necessary. The ram sticks i agree are dissapointing, i changed the 3 fans dont see a reason for server fans in home desktop and there was absolutely no negative change in thermals after fan replacement but system was more quiet. I was also able to drop som temps on CPU used thermal grizzly thermal paste. Sadly the thermal paste that came out of factory was not spread on whole HS so i re pasted and dropped temps on CPU.

I can push the system hard and temps are really good. Prime 95 small set peaks it at 83c after an hour. I only went with 32Gb of stock ram since it's yeah green. I'll be swapping it for Corsair Vengeance later when prices normalize it's nice black no RGB.

I think the other thing is a lot of these clueless zoomers just don't understand computers at all and don't get that Dell doesn't make the GPU or CPU, and that is why it seems "faster" than whatever aged crap they had before. Like I look at these blatant scams operating on newegg, ebay, amazon etc. still somehow like those GTS450's masquerading as 1050tis reviewers keep buying to make fun of, and wondering how anyone is still doing it, and then I delve into the really slummy regions of youtube like Apple owners gushing about products and the kind of zoomer who reviews a videogame while showing nothing but their facial reactions and realize, yeah, this is why they're made.
I mean people smoke crystal meth and inject heroin intentionally so idk why I'm so surprised on how people waste their money, but at least then you might feel good before feeling bad. Or maybe you do feel good about a purchase for about 5 mins before realizing it's trash, feeling bad, and then go and addiction-spend on new Apple/Dell/HP crap, or an overpriced Ampere card etc. Like yeah no shit a RDNA2 or Ampere is going to get you faster frames, a 6500XT 4gb is going to be "lots of power" from "this beast" if you previously bought a GTX 760, but it's still terrible value and worse than near anything else you could get. (and RTX 3050 is also atrocious value too tbh though you might as well just get a 5600XT or 2060 super at that point).

These people don't really know anything about art and they don't strive for perfection. I think the whole pandemic finally just got to me too coupled with the complete mass idiocy I just witnessed for years now, combined with all the sleaziness and greed. It's like watching the American oligarchs (truly Russia tier tbh) trying to make one last dash to steal everything left that they can until the whole house of cards comes crashing down. Like basic, subpar, half-adequacy.
GLASS my dudes, any other company is GLASS panels. Dell, HP, and Walmart all managed to fuck up in ways which take almost true effort and a sort of sick genius to accomplish, like the way those scamPUs masquerading as "GTX 1050ti" somehow also ended up getting sold as GTX 550tis even, and which even that is so crooked and fuck'd you can't even use it properly as a display output. Dawid did an interesting video on how he bought a 550ti that apparently also was that cheese fart rebranded as "1050ti" and ironic in that it's even worse than just buying a real GTX 550ti. The only strange thing I was having with my build was the CPU getting too hot for my liking.
    Specs:
    12900KF @5.1 at 1.25v w/cryo upgrade
    64GB DDR5 RAM
3080 LHR (IMO the $500 price increase for the 10% performance increase for the 3080 Ti, wasn't worth it.)
    1TB m.2 w/ 2TB 980 PRO m.2 (Non heatsink)
My GPU temps were interestingly good with never hitting over 75c at 2k with some games at max settings with HDR. However, my CPU on the first few days was hitting 100c on several cores and thus, getting throttled on those cores.
I have no idea why they were spiking that high out of the box, but after changing the OC myself to 5.1 and 1.250v, the temps kinda normalized at 76 being the peak. It could just be game-related and the 12900KF's high temps just not liking the game, but hitting 100c on cores on a watercooler, scared me. Dell reassured that the paste they use is better than Intel's testing paste that they use, and that the 12900KF takes a few days to let the thermal compound bond properly. Which, maybe it is true? But I really don't like seeing my CPU hitting over 85c on a load when it has a water cooler attached to it.
I tested it again with AC:V on max settings HDR today and only a few cores spiked to 76c, which was much better than the 90-100 I was seeing.
Overall, after updating all the drivers, and software for the chipset and Windows 11, I have experienced no crashing or any random restarts from my gaming experiences. I will keep trying to push the system and see if the 90+ temps return, and then Dell will issue a replacement on either the CPU or the Cooling unit as it shouldn't be getting THAT high constantly.
All-in-all, this prebuilt by AW was actually VERY good and priced right. You can't build a PC with the specs listed above for under 4K via amazon/newegg or even through the other pre-built companies.

@@RyanYu Oh yeah. I tried to...I HATE buying prebuilt as I love building my own systems and used to do it for a hobby when the market was much more reasonable. Every attempt I made, even with an 11900K 64GB of DDR4, m.2 1tb, 750-800W PSU Gold-Plat, Water Cooler, and a 3080 or better... sitting over 4.5k just because of the dang GPU prices. And even when going to all of the other premade companies, a lot didn't even have the 12900K(F) OR ddr5 memory and they were still sitting over that price.
The way I figure it is, buy this for a reasonable price, then, after the RAM market settles, buy a case, new DDR5 compatible Mobo, and PSU, then swap the parts into that. and BAM...affordable future proof.
Granted, the 4000 series was confirmed and pricing released, as well as the 3090 Ti. But...chances are...they will sell out just as fast as the 3000 series, unless resellers limit the delivery address purchase to 1 each, and only allow 1 purchase per payment method, IP, and/or user account (No guest purchases, you HAVE to register to buy it.). I got the r14 with the ryzen 9 5950, rtx 3090. I game alot and I run the highest settings on all my games. I have the originally fans still didn't swap them out and don't think I need to. So far highest Temps I get on warzone are around 73°c. Which isn't bad for gaming for hrs. But what I did do is in the command center I offset the fan alittle more so they can run alittle faster than normal. Highest percent on a fan I got so far is 64% to keep the cooling. I can't hear my pc with my headset nor does my yeti mic pic up the noise either. U can hear the pc but it's not to bad. Was pricey but so far worth it!
