As a Notre Dame fan, thanks! I mean that. That's why Notre Dame/Navy play every year but other schools just point and say ND is getting a cupcake on their schedule. Truth is Navy is a real football team with a rich tradition and a squad that is undefeated for a reason.

its means like "nuff said" or something. people would "mic drop" at the end of rap battles kinda just signifying that nothing else could be added :P :D

Also, in the day Navy was a Power House and Notre Dame not so much... kind of just the opposite of today!

My father was a veteran of ww2. A submariner on the Cabizon in the Sea of Okhotsk off of Japan (Also had an uncle who served in the Navy as an officer in a destroyer) . I was watching the Navy playing Notre dame when I was about 10 year old (I'm 67 now) and I started cheering GO NAVY!!!! He looked a me for a couple a seconds and said "what are you doing?". "I'm cheering for Navy Dad cause you were in the Navy!" He gave me a stern look and said "You're Irish" in a slow steady voice. Been cheering for Notre Dame ever since.

    MrShawny.
I would challenge any, and I mean any college football players to have to live up to the standards of The USNA midshipmen. Having to play football, fullfill duty requrements, actually keep their grades up in a tough academic school and wind up serving for at least 5 years after college. This v.s. Having alumni buy you a car, get you girls, basketweaving courses and all that other playtime just so a college cvan have a football team of players who, mostly, have no business even being in college (academically).
    No contest.
Hope this brings some needed context.

lmao super funny video! Although it seems that your donation wasn't a good investment judging by the Irish dominance of the rivalry. Nothing but respect for the Naval Academy as well as the AFA and West Point! Go Irish!

This was far from a unique arrangement - many, MANY colleges & universities housed military training programs during the war - the Navy had a preflight training program at Chapel Hill, just to give one example - and Northwestern had another training facility, conveniently located on Lake Michigan. And the Navy also "appropriated" college athletic coaches from all over the country to help physically train aviation cadets at all their training facilities. This doesn't diminish the significance of their contribution to Notre Dame, but to keep things in perspective - ND was just one of many college programs (well over 100, in fact) to so benefit.
Likewise, the Army had plenty of training programs housed on college campuses (ASTP).

Purportedly the Best Football team in the USA during WWII was Great Lakes Naval Training Center. They played and consistently beat "Pro" teams and colleges during 1942-1945!

    will long 1125,
alumni buying cars? girls? ND isn't in the SEC...... Notre Dame is a catholic school. which means any scandals of the nature you speak of wouldn't sit well with the Vatican. furthermore, if any school in the country can identify with the midshipmens stressful schedule and academic standards it's Notre Dame. no basket weaving courses there. The academy schools have standards that above and beyond and I thank them for their service, but dont sit here and say ND players have it easy. I dont know the exact numbers but I dare say that the academic standards at ND are far higher than any academy school....... I hope this brought some context.

+MrShawny85 He got a little carried away.... College is tough for cadets and other students. Buuuuuut ROTC is a more pleasant route to go on.
