@yur Yes, lets all applaud his strength and endurance! 🏋🏿♂️🏃🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@Dr. Webb Thanks alot for all the information I needed this! I’m currently at the college stage of this journey. 🤘🏾
Amen
Applause!!!!!
No big deal. Everyone can do routine jobs.
guest guest you’re disgusting
Whether you're trying to be a doctor or not, the lesson of persistence and not giving up on yourself is a lesson we can all learn here. I hope to be a successful writer and this is a great reminder to keep going.
Doctor, I am 21 years old, I didn’t do well at all in high school, my bro gave me a kick in the ass and I went to community college to do pre read and now I’m in respiratory school , I plan on being a PA ; I will never give up, thank you for showing us your journey
That is amazing, I'm so glad to see you'll never give up! I'm a sophomore who has recently developed a sort of passion to become a surgeon and I'm really hoping I can make it happen. Good luck!
@@wingedbunny6211 same! like i'm also a sophomore who also just developed a sort of passion to become a surgeon too, but my grades haven't been that good recently :(
@@mel9988 it’s been 5 months i hope your grades have improved and don’t worry to much everything that’s meant for you will reach you just give it your best and everything will fall in place
I graduated with a 1.6 GPA, and at the bottom 11 percentile of my senior class. I Ended up doing 10 years in the military 3 Army guard, 7 US Navy. I became a corpsman in the Navy specializing as a respiratory therapist. During my time in the military and a year after separating it took me a total of 11 years to get past remedial courses, undergrad, and PA prereqs. I recently got accepted to PA school. This story is all too familiar. Glad to see that there are other black men out there finding ways to overcome and achieve success.
Go Navy! USS Bataan
Michael moses Thank You for your Service 👍🏾
I'm so profoundly proud of you!!!!!
Do you know why you were not able to succeed while in grade school? This is where we need to catch more children to help them succeed in their lives.
@@melvina628 Most parents/teachers are clueless because there parents/teachers were clueless or they were immigrants, etc.
Wow, great to see a vet that was able to become a surgeon. I got out of the Marines two years ago, and now I'm on the path to becoming a neurosurgeon. Thanks for the video!
Justin Thompson You can do it!!
Thank you for your service
What was your mos and are you still pursuing?

Hearing Dr. Webb’s story is always inspiring 💪
bro you are like every where i go

You are under every video I watch !
Abdul Samee Kanth I swear this dude is under every video
I know I’m late to the game on commenting, but your channel just came across my feed. As a military veteran, and as a man in general, I applaud you Dr. Webb. Thank you for your inspiration to other vets and others that are struggling to find their way. Much respect. You’re a credit to all veterans, and an example for all humans.
Thank you Scott 🙏🏾
You are the only doctor that’s truly teaching people.
I’m a current third year student at Georgetown and GEMS alum watching your videos is so encouraging!
Dr. Webb you are a great encouragement. I took the MCAT last year and made a 483, I took it again and made a 488 after hiring a tutor and completing a Kaplan course. I plan to do the same as you did and take off a full year to diligently study for the MCAT with no distractions besides continuing working as an ED Scribe. I’ve currently completed one medical school interview and received my letter of denial 3 days ago. It felt like a giant slap in the face but I will not let it discourage me from becoming a physician. I look forward to one day receiving my White Coat and passing all medical boards. It makes my day receiving a notification that you’ve posted a new video. There is always something new to look forward to in your post. Keep up the good work!
Did you get in yet?
@@Berry01000 actually yes I have been accepted. I retook the mcat and boosted my Mcat 10 points on my 3rd attempt. So it is possible! I have been accepted to PCOM Georgia, a DO school. I have an interview at Mercer University, an MD school in January. Hopefully awaiting more interview invites right now!

Thanks for sharing! As a first-generation PhD student, I agree that mentorship can make a great difference in a person's career journey. "Never, ever, ever give up!"
My undergraduate Chemistry professor became a good friend and mentor. He is why I got into graduate school and got my PhD. NEVER give up and always remember the people who helped you get where you are.
@@ShikataGaNai100 im a CS ungrad, but job finding as software dev is incredibly difficult due to laid off 😭
This is really inspiring. As I’m wrapping up my bachelors, I look back and in high school it wasn’t even an option on my horizon. I’ve always told myself I couldn’t be a doctor but perhaps I could set my kids up to be. As I’ve followed you and your career, it’s become apparent that the only thing stopping me is me.
Thanks for the kind words!
Wow👏👏👏👏 moral of the story: Never give up on my dreams! Thank you so much Dr. Webb!!! I'm pursuing a nursing degree right now but my goal is to become a Dr. 😁
I'm in awe of your accomplishment. Wow! You took advantage of all your opportunities. A vet and a spine doctor. Damn! You want to pull others up.
I’m a soldier hoping to go into L&D nursing after I finish my military obligation. This was so inspiring and so informative. Thank you and congratulations on your success
I'm a 13B in the Army and I literally have so little time for school. Wish I would have picked a 68 series. Atleast most of my school is paid for.
I plan on joining the army too, hopefully I get a 68W contract.
Your story amazes me. Through all the struggles, you were able to build a good future for yourself. All the respect & I wish you nothing but the best doc!
Successful Black man and you are so inspirational! Keep it up
Your perseverance is inspirational.
Wow! Finally, a completely relatable person. Really the motivation I needed today
Thank you Alexis!
Such an inspiring and feel-good story Dr Webb! I’m Australian and received a low ATAR (ranking system for year 12 students) because I just didn’t care. I’m currently doing a diploma in science (while working full time for an Ophthalmologist)
to get my rank up and apply for medicine at university. This gives me so much hope that I can and WILL be a doctor one day. Thank you
In America Opthalmologists are eye surgeons who went to medical school
I’m also a student doing the ATAR and this is such an inspiring comment Tegan. I’m not doing any sciences at all and due to this I have extreme doubts in becoming a doctor. Reading your comment and listening to Antonio has been truly inspiring, it’s lovely to learn that another student in Australia is taking the persistent path around becoming a doctor, this helps me to learn that I’m not alone. I believe that following the longer path can allow for other experiences other students at medicine may potentially not learn, such as the feeling the greatest joy in achieving something that you have persisted to get for so so long. I truly truly hope all goes well with you, and that your dedication in taking this path will blossom and reap rewards. Please keep at it, I know you’ll get there ❤️
Dr. Webb proud of you Sir, absolutely Proud of your path and success, YOU are NECESSARY.
Whoah, just whoah! Amazing!!! You are proof if you really want something, you can do it, doesn’t matter what kind of background you have or how good you were in school.
Awesome!
Dude showed up to his HS graduation in a full military uniform. Respect.
It sounds like Georgetown GEMS post--bac program was the move that saved the day. I am glad you found out about that program and got such good results from attending.
Thanks!
I’m a dental Hygiene Major and I watch your videos to guide me. Even though I’m not a med student, I appreciate you
Awesome! Thanks for watching
where there is a will the sky is the limit!, what an inspirational life changing! Thank you Dr Webb hope lot more youngsters will follow your path.
You’re inspiring!
I want to become a neurosurgeon but I’m so insecure and I feel that I’m not smart enough to become a doctor.
I won’t give up just like you and try my best!
Honestly same even now, I graduated hs with a 2.0 gpa. First year of college got c's and b's, med school started feeling like a pipe dream. Now I got on myself with time management, now my grades have improved to b's for Chem and bio, next semester spring will be A's. Hope the same happens for you.
That is a long way! But an ispiration for those kids out there to dream big! Respect!
i know this video was made 4 yeas ago, but thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. I have had my own struggles in the path of medicine, I failed entry twice and a lot has gone wrong including both the view of myself and my family. To know I am not alone means a lot, coming deeply from my heart, thank you.
I am so glad I watched this video. I am a NAVY surgical technologist and going to school for my bachelors degree with hope to become an orthopedic surgeon. I am glad to know that their are people that were in the military and never gave up on their dreams.
I worked with Dr Webb at a surgical hospital in San Antonio , always a professional very respectful and humble . Great stuff
I have a 2.8 gpa undergrad GPA. I'm such a different person than I was during my college years. I feel just absolutely lost. I'll be taking prerequisite classes for the ADN program (RN). I've always wanted to be a physician, but I was just too lazy to put forth any real effort studying. It wasn't until working my last crappy job doing back breaking manual labor that I broke down into tears and realized how my laziness in college has robbed me of my dream. I'll do anything to go back in time and fix my mistakes.
It’s funny to see doctors in lab coats no body here in the Uk wears them. They were actually band as considered an infection risk
U are an inspiration! 👏🏻👏🏻
God bless
You are such an inspiration. I’m 15 years old and I wanna be a spine surgeon. Idol❤️
Thank you! I specifically like how getting good grades or straight A’s was not the main point of this video. Of course grades are important, but by centralizing the video to “I got here because I never gave up” encourages me to continue pressing on as I journey to become a PharmD!
Don’t become a PharmD it’s pretty much a scam.
Filmon Tewolde May I get some incite as to why you believe becoming a PharmD is a scam?
@The Medical Enthusiast Hello, thank you for your honesty. I am in undergraduate and I have changed my major from Chemistry to Biomedical Sciences to pursue becoming a Physician's Assistant instead. All the best with your career journey, keep the faith!
SIR. I respect you! Thank you for showing us your path and to advise us not to give up in anything we want to do even when we feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Its a day by day process. All the best!!!
I discovered your channel shortly after my mother got sick and saw your from Shreveport I am as well it's nice to see you've done well God bless.
Wow I’m so happy you uploaded this. Many people act as if they had a perfect life before medical school but people only like to show their good side in life.Dr. Webb thanks for sharing this
Those of us who were 1st in our families to attend college really need a mentor!
Currently a senior taking an Emt course in high school, always wanted to be a psychiatrist but I would love to preform surgery. I love the medical field but I'm so worried about math lol
Congrats bro, this is a perfect example why I tried to never judge some of the Joes that I worked with. They aren't just PV2s, PFCs, or SPCs, they are real human beings with a ton of potential and capabilities. I gave so much respect to all of them pursuing degrees while active duty. I know a few junior enlisted that have gone on to PA school, dental school, and med school.
Perseverance, never give up on your dreams.
Wow this is really inspiring. I am in my first year of college and am questioning my path to medicine. Your video has led me to develop more determination to work harder for my dream. Thank you.
It’s my first year of college too, good luck on your path wishing you the best.
Amazing and inspiring ☺. I watched a number of other videos on this channel before watching this one, so I never would have guessed Dr. Webb's path to become a doctor was so challenging.
Glad you enjoyed it!
4 years in undergraduate, 2 years getting my masters and 1 trimester in Chiropractic school. I visited multiple MD and DO schools. Also visited schools in traditional medicine.
I worked as a medical scribe in internal medicine and life skills specialist for the mentally challenged. I even switched careers and went into the horticulture industry.
7 years later after highschool, here I I'm dropping out of Chiropractic school to focus on my MCAT and will be trying to get into a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.
Good. Chiropractors are a scam
I work full time as a veterinary technician. I am working to go to medical school. I’m running into the same issue of my grades being effected by work. I’ve been work overtime and many times picking up shifts at other hospitals since I was 18. I worked many odd jobs prior to breaking into the medical field. I was homeless at 17. Videos like this are really encouraging that I can make it happen. I don’t make enough to save up to take anytime off so it’s really discouraging. I wish I could take time off to improve my gpa. Thank you for making videos like this
I want to become a doctor and your journey just inspired me. Thank you!!
Thank you Esther! You can do it!
I can listen to this brother talk all day. You need a TED talk presentation man, for real!!
Great resiliency and focus!
Thanks for sharing your inspiring story, and for encouraging more people to spread their message and share their journey. 👏🏻
What a wonderful story, I’ve been watching you for about two years now and you’ve done nothing but inspire me to keep following my dream of also becoming a surgeon thank you. 🙏
Thank you Dr Webb. This is always great reminder to me to keep going no matter what obstacles may come, just need to keep overcoming those obstacles and stay on the path of my goal and endure to the end.
Dr. Webb you are God Sent, thanks alot for the mentor, by 2022 am starting my journey because currently am completing my PA program though not that satisfied.
Congratulations on achieving your goal to become a surgeon. I might not know you but I'm very proud of you and your commitment of not giving up. This video will be a great inspiration to others wanting to become a doctor but are feeling discouraged and considering giving up. Way to go doctor!
Thank you for your service Antonio.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. In my 5th month of my M1 year and even though there continue to be huge ups and downs, I know I made the right choice and docs like you make me proud to be a colleague!
Dr. Webb is just an awesome guy and a success story for all of us, young and old alike! Follow your dream and do the right thing for yourself and for the people around you!
I can relate to this so much. This military is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I had lost my path into Nursing, but came back around and started up again. I have been in for 12 years and still going strong. The balance between life and the military has been the biggest struggle.
This video is amazing. Definitely helping me figure out my journey to PMR! See you February in Dallas hope I get a chance to talk to you.
What an inspiration, the story of Dr Webb clearly indicates that you can become whatever you want to become with hard work and determination...Nobody other than YOU can shape your destiny... Dr Webb deserves all the success he is enjoying today because he has been focused and followed his dreams by simply embracing the concept of HARDWORK and DISCIPLINE.....👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thanks!!
When you think everything in life is a straight shot, watch this video. I had no clue life was so full of ups and downs and detours. But it’s good to see that persistence is key
Dude you just spoke to my soul! THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you so much for your transparency, Dr. Webb!

Thank you! I appreciate that!
Appreciating your openness! Must confess that when I see others succeed in less time frames than I, it makes me wonder whether I should quit! Your story is very encouraging. I've started a youtube channel as a way of reaching my goal of excelling in medical research. Not going to give up!
Thanks!! 🙏🏾
Congratulations is not enough to say the least, for you are a remarkable young man. It is your dedication with a keen eye and insight into your future dreams to become a doctor that kept you grounded. However I am sure you had people to motivate you, everyone has a shoulder or two to stand on....can you please comment on those individuals (if not personally but with some acknowledgement) to help those who are following you to know that we all need a helping hand. You are truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story.

I know this is an old video but I am also from Shreveport and I understand . I don’t know you but I am proud of you . I know it was not easy!
Wow!! Just awesome! You DID it!
I don’t usually get excited on videos but this one blew my mind and is probably about the same path that I’m going to take. I love the fact you went into the military bcuz not only did I want to be in military before I thought if being a surgeon, but if I can’t get a full/affordable ride to my schooling then I would have to take the military route.
Thanks Richard! Military is a good route. I suggest looking into it. Medical schools are so expensive these days. Check out these videos on my military experience ua-cam.com/play/PLAhk31i50Jpy33BwUmEsbON0ELoZRFEYt.html

I am sorry for anyone going through a rough life, but excuse me if you dont like what I'll write. Here we have a man seen it all, experienced it all, and had all the right reasons to just be another young life wasted to the world. To just be another statistic. Besides it all he never gave up and picked himself out of the mud. Here he is sharing himself so others may follow his footsteps. Dont find the excuses not to succeed cuz you will find em. Instead, find all the reasons to be different and change yourself.

Hi Antonio thank you for making this video. God Bless you Sir.
I was wondering if you ever thought of becoming a neurosurgeon since neurosurgeons work on the spine as well?
They mostly do brain stuff though :)
Congratulations! This is so motivating , you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to 🙏🏽🙌🏽
You graduated high school 2 days before I was born!!!
Dr. Webb, I have just recently made the leap of faith and applied for a 1 year SMP program as well. The debt involved in addition to the risk vs reward nature of the program can be scary, but your video definitely helped me in reminding myself to just grow a pair and go thru with it. Always keeping it real, I appreciate your videos!
