How's it going folks. This was a long video to make but I think it came out great! Personally I think the gargoyle is the better of the 2, but everyone has a different opinion. What gecko head 2 head should we do next?
As a gargoyle owner I have to say that they are the best not as derpy looking and real look of owning* a mini dinosaur! Also the selling point for me was that crested geckos if they loose their tail they become frog butts but gargoyles grow them back not as good / strong as the original but it grows back crested geckos don’t.
I went to an expo expecting to get a crested but I ended up getting a gargoyle because I just fell in love with them. I know technically there is a lot of variation in the crested but ultimately they are mostly just shades of brown with slightly different patterns. The gargoyles have way more variation in bright oranges, reds, and yellows in totally different patterns. They were all super unique. But so far my baby gargoyle hates me and squeaks at me all the time and only eats crickets and isn't pooping enough and I'm so stressed out. 😭
The only reptiles i have are a leopard gecko and a ball python. My leopard gecko hates being touched lol my ball python is really sweet and comes to the door to come out. But my old roommate got a crested gecko and he was super chill to handle
I honestly agree with the crestie starter recommendation, for me, I have a garg and crestie. Both of them are easy for me to balance and take care of, but yeah for the most part, I honestly say crestie but it's a luck of the draw, they both are equally pretty cool and both of em are little love bugs, im just a bit biased.
I have a garg and I absolutely love her. Shes the reason why my logo has a garg. I can have her out with me while I'm working on stuff on my computer and she'll sit on my shoulder for over an hour. I will always have a garg with me and she's the reason for it
I used to have a Gargoyle who would give any Tokay a run for their money, seriously.. back then i had the choice between a crested and a gargoyle and i just thought gargs were cooler (which i still stand by) but when it came to handleability (and that's what i wanted to do so much with mine) mine was simply nuts.. rehomed him a few years back when i moved and never looking back.. if i ever decide to keep a gecko again i would honestly go for a Crested.. just my 2 cents..
If I was going to say which one is better based off of holdability I'd say gargoyle. They're less spastic and less likely to jump out of your hand and scale the wall 😅
I love gargs so much I have 20 of them. Im suprised that you had them act like tokays with you lol. Ive only been bit by scared babies or a juvenile that really missed a chricket. Some chahouas can be super agro though, they also like to latch on. I feel bad though, this one female chewie i took eggs from a week ago is really out to get me and i deserve it lol
😮Please stop saying room temperature. Please state what temperature gradient you use with the enclosure size. Gargoyles and cresty's are being kept in the low 70s and even 60s all the time. 😢 then they are gotten rid of for being boring and not moving around from being too cold😢 i have 2 cresty' 2 gargoyles. 2 leos and a tokay. All are kept and proper lighting levels and care. I find with being in 36L x 18 x 24T my new Caledonians are very active especially when chasing their feeders. Love them. Love your videos. Keep it going. Got my Tokay girl at 2 years?old CB of course. I wanted one since I saw them the first time on one of the first animal tv series. Mutaual of Omahas wild kingdom. But my husband pushed by my friend bought me my Wish reptile. Only took 47 years to get her.
That’s for talking about the crazy gargoyles…. I have 2 cresties and 2 gargs. One of those gargs is nicknamed zigzag Houdini bc it finds a way to jump out of its container and books it.
Have both, adore both! I would have to give advantage to Gargs because they seem less likely to drop a tail and can regrow if they do! Don't get me wrong, my frog butt is adorable, but his little polka dot tail was really sad to lose. Not to mention that there wasn't even a good reason to drop it. He was flustered that I cleaned his tank and freaked when he fell in his water bowl (which he normally loves and sits in voluntarily 🙄) You can't go wrong, just be patient and gentle, most individuals of either species will come around! ❤
I think the answer is 100% a personal preference. I personally don't care much for leopard geckos, between crested and gargoyle i have to admit its pretty close. I don't know much about what kind of enclosure a gargoyle needs (only looked into care for the animal I should be getting come warmer weather, which is a crestie) I wish i didn't live in this small place.... reasonably I could maybe get 2 more enclosures for cresties (18x18x24). For a gargoyle it looks like i needs bigger because they seem bigger. As always nice informative video with a little fun factor.
I agree, for pet owners Crested is great, but Love the Gargs So much. Its like the Leo vs Cave Gecko. Cute vs Edgy Lol Also would LOVE a Leachie vs Chewy
Leachies are super cool, but automatically loose 2 points for always pooping on the front of their glass enclosures. They are called leaky-anus geckos for a reason lol.
@@jocelynpascoe2795 LMAO I actually built a guard so it stops getting into the door frame. I found a trick to stop em from popping on me. Put em in a container with a little water and they go in that. Then you can hold em without a bomb inside lol
Having kept all of them (and this is only my personal experience.... it obviously differs between personalities) Leachies > Chahoua > Crested > Gargoyle for handling Gargoyles are the only ones that can be a bit skittish and the other 3 are pretty much the same in different sizes
Dude, even if the content was yours, i think your video was following the reviews of Clint.s reptiles. Although it is always super cool to have those types of reviews, and I appreciate the feelings of all different experts breeders really a lot to help us ( thanks for your videos!) beware of all the crap that flying now in the community and Facebook 🤪. But keep the good work and it will pay 😅
Yea, it’s very similar to Clint’s but if you try to find a truly original idea online, you’ll be disappointed. He switched up the format a bit in that this is a head to head rather than a straight forward rating of one animal.
My house can get up to the high 90°s in the summer and I don't have a room with air conditioning to put an enclosure. Should I just avoid getting a gecko until I eventually move? I have my heart set on a gargoyle gecko and don't want a different species.
Hmm I think it just comes down to how much care you put into them as individuals like my brother has to full grown created geckos that try to escape or run any time they get the chance but my crestie is chill as can be it’s very interesting
I got a gargoyle for my first reptile then turned around and got a bearded dragon gargoyle name is citrine I love him he’s amazing just takes some time and you can bond with them really well and I love my spryro (bearded) I can take him everywhere !
We’re are you shopping? Cause almost every website I seen gargoyles starting prices are 150 for a low quality 😂my local pet shops sell baby’s at 299.99 for red blotch
I breed gargs as a hobby and work for another breeder. Prices have really dropped on them, I've had to sell super nice babies for under $300 so I can afford my text books. Wholesale price for them has basically cut in half over the year. I still love them and will never give them up. Blotched gargs still seem to be in demand, though.
Own both love both both of mine do not eat pangea or anything like that because i’d rather feed them live and stock the crickets stomach with banana or something right before feeding (gut loading) and they’re both around the same but gargoyle geckos are SO insanely hard to find at least hear near pace fl but i got so lucky with mine he’s a rescue and yeah! i have mine in a 24 inch tall 18 inch wide tank and it works amazing for my gargoyle gecko but my crested is just in a normal 12 by 8 i think i can’t remember dimensions but once he grows ill upgrade he’s been shedding insanely fast and i have springtails and isopods in both and i do have my gargoyle gecko in a bit warmer tank mainly just more humidity because their skin is less durable than a crested gecko but yes they can live in a replica of a crested gecko tank and when i handle my crested gecko he’s a little flighty but my gargoyle gecko is awesome he’s so calm no matter what but both amazing pets for the hobby
How's it going folks. This was a long video to make but I think it came out great! Personally I think the gargoyle is the better of the 2, but everyone has a different opinion. What gecko head 2 head should we do next?

I feel like gargoyle vs chahoua would be a good one

I love my frog butt 😊
maybe i missed it, but kinda surprised the point that gargs regen dropped tails and cresties don't didn't come up.
You forgot to mention that crested don't regrow their tail, gargoyles do... that's 5pts right there
I’m loving those white and black gargoyles!!
They are rad
I think Gargs are cooler. I've only ever had a Crestie and mine was batsh*t insane lol. I'm all for the Chewies vs Leachie comparison!

I was never terribly impressed with cresties. I love my gargs though. I think they’re cuter and I prefer a bit more excitement when handling

I’m with you on gargs, I can’t wait for my male to mature so I can pair
Theres just something about them that's rad
@@Dakotahblueexotics for me it’s the horns. I’m personally a fan of the short snout gargoyles myself.
For sure Gargoyle Gecko's. Just better overall.

i personally prefer the gargoyle ..More beautiful ,it look like a tiny dragon /crocodile

Great info, great vid. Keep it up.
I just got a baby crestie and she acts like an adult. I love her shes super sweet.
The whole reason I got a crested gecko is because they look so dirpy 😅!
As a crestie owner, I'm on team cresties
Team creast! Although gargoyles are great!
Really enjoy your videos and appreciate all the work you put into them.
I personally love Gargs but so far I favor cresties over gargs lol! Cresties are so adorable IMO and I’m a sucker for cute animals lol!
My new crested gecko arrives in two days
Gargoyles are cuter I am getting one of them whatever would be easier in a pretty color
My crested gecko just bites me and runs across my room and I have to catch him
dawg i accidentally bred a gargoyle and a creator, i have had the baby for two years. she’s a sweetie
a hybrid? i need to see that

Yes. Unless you can provide safe Temps, don't get a gecko. Otherwise you'll have a 400$ de*d body chilling in a tank
hey, just wanted to know if hornworms are okay for cresties every once in a while
I love the Gargs hoping to get one at some point

Would love to see some more gossip videos how I started watching your videos was the chandler Vs Kevin x
How long ago was that posted? Was that the title? Sounds interesting lol.
Crested all the way (I’m biased I breed cresties)
Fair 😂
Interesting - my adult female Lilly is the tamest out of my 12 geckos :)

Tanks for sharing
Crested Gecko"when it comes to cost, the min max is anywhere between about $25-$30,000" 😂😂😂 so true.
I know I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer the "normal" or "wild type" versions of reptiles, amphibians and fish.
Agree 100%
Not a fan of the tank recommendation. You said a 20 gallon tall as in the standard fish tank? Minimum would be 18x18x24 arboreal enclosure.
Do you have any ink dalmatian crested for sale?
Yes we have quite a few to choose from. You can check them out at dakotahblueexotics.com
I'm here for team crestie! They are definitely cool looking to me! I have yet to own either yet tho
I own a crested gecko I love her ..but gargoyle pretty too..
Day two of asking Dakota to do a tattoo tour 😊
Yesss!!
If it pees on you every time, why are you so surprised?😳
i’m trying to make my decision on crestie or gargoyle!!
Do you recommend using the night UVB?
Hey...what is a good bug for a crested treat? Do they seem to have preferences?
I just feed crickets right now
100 to 150? Last time I looked gargoyles were still 600-700! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places 😂
Naaaah I've seen cheaper ones. They just are kind of ugly 😂
