    Wow this is an amazing interpretation. I especially like how at 2:17 the shrill accompaniment figures create extreme tension, almost like an alarm; which adds to the distress of the section

    Beautiful and so wonderfully talented. I played the clarinet in school but only the top player was allowed to learn and use the oboe. I was nowhere close. Such a wonderful sound and almost hypnotic. Thanks for the share. I found your link in Discord.

    I wish I had the opportunity to play the d’amore. I’ve the oboe and English Horn in a good few ensembles but never the d’amore.

    Bravo, Dan. I found this more or less at random on UA-cam (not sure it helps if I say the previous thing I looked at was Holliger playing the Carpriccio from his solo sonata...). I looked at the title and thought "WTF?". I mean, all that tonguing to get the effect of the horse galloping through the night! Given that the oboe family has its vocal-like strengths and dynamic (range) weaknesses I thought you did a great job of transcribing and presenting this. It was really well-played, interesting and kept me wanting to know how it would all end. Good job.

      @@russdeluna8132 yes, it’s available at waldronreeds.com. I also made a version for woodwind quintet which is probably easier to play due to more places to breathe. That version isn’t online but send me a message if you’d like to try it.

    Brilliant concept. What type of tounging are you using?

    • @DanWaldron
      @DanWaldron  2 роки тому +1

      This was all single tongued. The rhythmic feel sat better this way, even though I could probably play it a tiny bit faster if I were double or triple tonguing it.

    Very nicely played, however if I may add one suggestion where it is a question of audio and visual being two very different things.
    The idea of four separate squares playing the different parts on different instruments is interesting, for a while, perhaps the first 45 seconds to a minute - people quickly get the idea that it is you playing and that you are competent enough, but I would have much rather seen (and not particularly this specific example but as a general conceptual idea), the music still playing but then the screen go all dark.
    Then one of the squares pops up and you are wearing rabbit ears out in your back yard nibbling on grass, looking around you ever so cautiously.
    Then a second square pops up and you are in a squirrel suit sitting in a tree branch in a local park.
    Then the third square and you are a bird (in a bird outfit of course) flitting about in a country meadow.
    The fourth square then shows you as a stalking cat looking out your window (cat ears, painted on whiskers and a fake tail attached should do for this).
    Of course, knowing the narrative of the piece, you'll know what to do with each character interaction.
    Then in the last minute or so as the music still plays, as a post-modern twist, each of the squares shows you in your minimal animal costumes doing everyday mundane tasks - standing in a supermarket check out line, riding the bus or subway, brushing your teeth in the bathroom, etc.
    Then at the finale, the square of Alice from the Brady Bunch is overlayed onto the intersection of the four squares in the middle of the screen - and of course, the script below appears seconds later that says:
    and Ann B. Davis as Alice.
