I cannot have a can of tuna for a snack since I got the cat. She can be asleep, and I'm on the other end of my home in the corner silently trying to open that can of Tuna....then it's like "MEOW!!" cat is at me "give me some of that or I'll kill you." My problem is I've always since I was young I drink that canned Tuna juice and I still do. I love the tuna water idea as it promotes drinking fluids and I do not have a water fountain for her. However I have read that cat's do not like water near their food but they love Tuna so much so maybe Tuna water is an exception?
We have two cats who are about 7 months old from the same litter and their personalities could not be more different. Tina is very calm and loves cuddles and being held, but prefers gentil pets. Louise is a wild child who hates being picked up or held, but loves verry rough full body rubdowns! Tina prefers chicken and Louise prefers fish. But they do both like both. We would love to get our cat's a fountain, but they love to play in water so much that it would make an enormous mess.
My four indoor rescue cats would not go near the water fountain i bought for them. They all kept drinking from the stainless steel low wide bowls i had throughout the house. The fountain was a complete bust.
Mine are inside/outside and love their fountain even though I put out a water large wide bowl of fresh water twice a day for the other locals. Luck of the draw, I guess.
I know when my cat is around me for food- I will get the 'death stare' but most other times he likes to be on my bed close by, unless I get too noisy watching the game😂
Make sure your toilet seat is available and clean so your furbabies have access to clean water. Whether you are home or on vacation. I always keep mine clean.
@@phyllispaxton9323 I'm validated 😊 I never understood why some cat owners are disturbed by this. Like you said, just keep it clean. I know my cat drinks from the toilet & it doesn't take much effort to keep baking soda and vinegar in a spray bottle & clean the bowl as needed. An odd thing though, if my cat sees me walk by while he's drinking, he cowers and stops and gets ready to run as if I caught him doing something wrong. I've never yelled at my cat from doing this and wonder why he has this reaction. I adopted him from a shelter at 7 months. I was told that he had been adopted twice & was returned each time. IDK. Maybe that has something to do with it. 😺💕🧶🐾
Need to be careful with tuna. Tuna feed off of the bottom of rivers, streams and lakes - heavy metals fall to the bottom of the bodies of water and are ingested by fish. Cats have small livers and cannot eliminate heavy metals easily
@Feline_Fanatic Yeah, nope. My cat tries to bury fresh and canned tuna. He’s not interested in fish at all. Of any species. He likes salmon-flavoured kibbles but not real salmon. 🤦🏻
I'm an dog person who got a cat a few years ago and having this crazy cat girl around made me realize how cool cats really are.
