Bizarre Edwards was a warrior and he had to be in shape to absorb those body shots. The guy had to have a steel chin too. He took some clean shots. No quit in this man. Alexis wasn’t flashy, jab, left hook and right hand. If he hit you he hurt you. Great fight. RIP Alexis.
I always liked both of these fighters. I thought Boza Edwards fought well but Alexis just keeps coming and the more you stand in there with him he will wear you down and nail you. I thought Mickey Duff did the right thing by stopping the fight. Boza was a young contender and he had fought well, no need to risk getting him hurt or confidence messed up by suffering a bad ko in those last few rounds. Seven months later Boza would win the WBC Super Featherweight Championship against Rafael Bazooka Limon.
After seeing Boza get thrashed by Arguello I became a fan with that southpaw stance game as can be AA hit him so hard to the body he pissed on himself ow!
Competitive and entertaining fight! Boza did pretty well against the always poised Arguello, and definitely had his moments. Excellent big shots from both fighters! Much respect to both of them. Great sportsmanship from Boza and Arguello, always nice to see two top level athletes with genuine respect for one another. A refreshing change of pace from the trash talk of today
Cornelius Boza Edwards was a talent with huge heart. His corner did the right thing. Arguello would have just punished him needlessly because the body punches had taken everything out of Cornelius. Great fight. Wish we had some fights like this today. They are rare.
A super fight between Alexis Arguello vs Salador Sanches was in the works but we all know because of the unfortunate car accident of Sanchez it didn't happen , RIP both CHAMPS .
I will forever maintain that Sanchez would have completely nullified Arguello's best attributes. People praise Sal as a dogged counterpuncher, but in reality he was THEE counterpuncher, and nicknamed "Iron Lungs" which would have completely thrown Alexis down a hole, as he ALWAYS relied on rounds 12-15 to put away the guys who gave him trouble.Sal also had a chin made of granite.
Yeah CBE was one of those "great" boxers (shy of an "alltime" great) who was just ALWAYS involved in insanely entertaining fights. In that regard he was always one of the "greats"

Arguello was brutal with his punches

Alexis Arquello the greatest super feather weight in history
Yes Alexis was da man but Boza scored good here and showed promise that he was a king too only lack of defense or carelessness cost him
28:37 Boza Edwards: "Have a nice trip! See you next fall."

💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
15:12 Sound of it though.
THONK 😂
Bozas defense was ALWAYS so porous, a fight like this for him to establish himself, that defense, failed...same vs Navarette .
I know but he still scored heavy on them both he had Rolando hurt real good only to get caught up in his defensive carelessness
terrifying right hand of Arguello
This video was altered way too much to be enjoyed by me. I really wanted to see this fight too. Oh well. Next.
What alterations are you referring to?
