This disease killed one of my best friends, and I'm at risk myself. TIPS: If you have GERD and/or a sliding hiatal hernia, simply avoiding the classic trigger foods and/or taking meds is sometimes NOT ENOUGH. I recommend ELEVATING THE HEAD OF YOUR BED (the bed, not the mattress) at least 3", and train yourself to sleep on your left side whenever possible. Easy cheap DiY bed frame mod (mine): 1) Get a length of 4x4" lumber, and then router or chisel a pair of 1" deep depressions to fit under the feet of the head of your bed, then (2 person lift) slip it into place. Next step is to stop the mattress' tendency to slide down off the box spring. 2) Cut a 4" or wider width of 3/8" thick plywood sheeting to fit the length of your box spring. Draw a centerline down the length of both sides, and label one end the head and the other the foot. On the head end, screw a 4"x2" angle bracket to the underside - the 4" side facing the wood, and the 2" side pointing towards the floor. On the foot end, do the same on the top side, with the 2" side facing upwards. The plywood strip is then placed between the mattress and box spring - the downward bracket at the head prevents the plywood from sliding downhill off the box spring, and the upward bracket at the foot prevents the mattress from slidng downhill off the plywood. It works.
They say I have 8cm of Barrett’s, at first they said they spotted “a few” dysplastic areas. But were negative after biopsy. My question is this… If Barretts does not repair itself, and it’s a direct path to cancer, why not treat it for it’s own sake? I’ve already been through one type of cancer, I don’t want to risk another.
