I own and enjoy the Note Air 3c. That said, this video taught me two things. First, there is no compelling reason for me to upgrade to the Note Air 4c. Second, your battery results demonstrate that I should have added the Note Air 3 (monochrome) to my stable of devices while I could still buy one. Sadly, Onyx has discontinued that model, is unlikely to restock and is just as unlikely to release a monochrome Note Air 4. I like the Go 10.3 but the lack of a backlight is a HUGE miss. The Go 10.3 is fine under studio or bright office lights, but anything less leaves a very dark screen. I'd gladly pay for a Note Air 3 monochrome to get the tremendous battery life. Could have, should have... but didn't. I understand why Boox discontinued the Note Air 3. They don't want those sales to infringe on the Go 10.3. Still... the Note Air 3 mono is simply a better all around solution than the Go 10.3 and I wish they had continued to offer it as an option.
🙋♂Hi Voja! I am using update 4.0 on my Note Air 3C and found no issues so far. I thank you for this review and presently don't see any reason to upgrade from my NA3C. I will wait another year or so and see what else may come from Boox or other manufacturers. 🎅Happy Holidays!🎄 Kudos from NYC🗽.
Hi Voja, thank you for all your great work! I just got the beta 4.0 on my NA3C. So far, no big issues. I absolutely love the possibility to use MDO as template in a notebook. It's so fast, has all the functionality of the notebook and I now have all my notebooks and organizers in the same part of the device. Exactly what I needed. I want to inform everyone who is looking forward to the update, that the new tab-like UI is not a part of the update for NA3C. I assume that's how Boox decided to differentiate between these devices. Other than that, all the new functionalities are there. Happy Holidays!
Another fantastic and useful video. Thanks for doing this. As a NA3C user, I have been very curious about the new 4.0 update that is now available (but in beta form that you have to request to join). I enjoy my NA3c currently but have been considering updating. Very useful information here to make me wait until it matures a bit more. Your videos are great Voja, and I got the NA3C based on your review and so happy that I did. Merry Christmas and an excellent new year ahead for you and your loved ones mate.
Hi, Voja, I have been fallowing your channel here for more than 2 years. What I relly would appreciated it Is If you share more videos about how to make better settings on NAC3 to work better and to be useful for work or study (for example: learning languages). The software is so unfrandly. Thanks in advance.
I purchased NA3C a couple months before the intro of NA4C which was a major disappointment given the hardware enhancements and 4.0 firmware version. I will await the 4.0 firmware update in hopes that battery life improvement is a software issue and the 4.0 UI improvements will make the 3C more User Friendly. I use NA3C for digital planning in OneNote. I have a iPad Air 11" M1 with rock paper pencil screen protect and a 1Pad Mini 6 with a Paperlike for adequate input devices too.
Thanks for always producing content that speaks to my interest! I currently have a note air 3 black and white version and like it, however, I use the Google environment quite a lot and I find that some of the buttons are unreadable on black and white. Is this rendering much better on the note are 4c? I am seriously tempted to upgrade.
.. thank you so much for your professional work! Its always a pleasure to listen to your sight of things. From my point of few boox tent do be premium but then releases products, in this case with bugy software, that didnt meet my expectations and especially after over a year of using the NA3C my needs for better organizing my notes. So no update to NA4C for me.
From a different video I heard that the 3C had received an update that improved battery life significantly. I didn't find a new video or short with the new testing data from the 3C. That'd be interesting to see
Thanks for this comparison, very detailed. Not sure about your thoughts between the go 10.3 and the 4C. My use case is OneNote for work with minimal color use. I might use it for PowerPoint on the comments section and then use the pad for some sketching. Difficult choice
Ive been testing the 4.0 firmware on my Go10.3 since yesterday. Pretty good. The only problem Ive found so far is that I have to adjust the line thickness of the pen to very be very thick when writing on hyperlinked PDFs in the note app. Its the same on my 4C. I hope they fix it soon.
With the introduction os android 14 several smartphones seemed to have improved quite a lot their battery consumption, I'm quite interested on the effects that will have on devices like booxs going forward
hello voja, i'm looking to buy an eink tablet but i dont know if it will work for my purpouse. I'm a radiologist, do you have any idea how CT/MRI images are seen in those tablets? those from articles/books, so i can use it to study. thank you!
I watched other videos stating, when the 4c came out, that the battery life was awful. Were firmware updates pushed that resolved these issues? I am considering buying it, that's why I am asking :)
I don't know what the "other videos" were basing their findings on regarding the battery life, but my measurements and tests have these results and you can see how these results compare to other devices undergoing the same testing. Maybe the videos you watched were basing it on a subjective impression, or a habit and expectation that BSR is going to eat at the battery life, or maybe they were simply using the device in a specific way that caused the device to spend a lot more battery. I don't know what you watched or what they did, I only know what I did and what the results were. As for the update, it was only the update that the device asked for immediately upon the first start up.
@MyDeepGuide I can quote you channels if you want, but they were very thorough with the tests. They were performed though on day one, so seeing your results (which I am not disputing of course!), I was wondering if maybe some updated addressed some issues, cause those videos said that the 4c had worse battery life than the 3c. That sounded strange to me, and seeing your video made me wonder about firmware updates. I am not in a rush about buying it (it would be my first e-ink), but your video definitely helped me a lot :)
I honestly don't know, as I don't know what the test conditions were, so it can be any number of things that can cause such a discrepancy, and an update fix certainly can have a dramatic effect on the battery life.
When I purchased Note Air3C, I noticed the lag when reading notes, the darkness of the screen and awful battery life. I think Note Air4C is just the same device resolving these problems. Actually Boox should have call for returning back all Note Air3Cs and giving Note Air4Cs instead. Now the lack of memory also has caused delay in giving out updates for Note Air3C. Because of these problems, I rarely used Air3C during last year. I think Note Air3C is going to be the first and last Boox device I purchased.

It keeps the old look? Yyyyeeeesssss!!!
Noticed any improvement in battery life with the update?

At 9:00 - when looking at the color blocks, the last two blocks in the second row have a visibly significant (on camera at least) difference.

Has this update corrected the Notes lagging issue on the Note Air 4C? I understand the Note Air 3C doesn’t have the problem. Thanks!
Slightly odd question, does boox run rocksmith the guitar app? I mean is it fast enough to use on it or even compatible?

I have the note air 2, is it worth changing, tbh as an electrician I need a colour screen, so maybe it is, but what should I buy
Main difference: the NA3C can't be found in stock in my country...
Where is the Boox Note Max video?
You've set your time machine to go too far back. Either correct it next time you do a time travel or wait until the device is actually out.
I don't think there was any necessity for Note Air 4C for the consumer
Maybe they were pressurised to release something new color device due to RMPP release
