You can tell he regretted injecting himself. Poor guy tried his best to restrain G and is also trying to hold back letting you try putting him out of his misery. In g2 when he noticed his head sinking in the chest he knew all hope of control was lost
They way he shouted “HELP ME!” sends a chill down my spine.

I can empathize with him as well. I believe that he’s more or less a tragic villain than a purely evil character. He was just trying to protect his family.
@@Ashie-booboo oh, absolutely. obviously we’re all responsible for our own actions but will was groomed and manipulated into being comfortable with what umbrella was doing. he became a lead researcher at 15 and was at the training school before that.
i enjoy the parallel between him and his mentor, james marcus, quite a bit. both became so paranoid in the last part of their lives, fearful that umbrella was going to kill them and steal their research. except william was involved with murdering his mentor, marcus, and now here’s umbrella coming to do the same to him.
the last bit of the vhs tape from re2make, where will’s lying dead on the floor while the uss soldier pries his briefcase with his life’s work in it from his hands... always makes me sad.
@@ordinary_vanity Yeah, and his last words before he transformed clinched it for me. He regretted using his own work on himself, but he only did that to survive. He wanted revenge on Umbrella, even if it meant sacrificing his own humanity to get it. And he was aware that it would come with repercussions, knowing full well it was too late to rethink that decision.
@@Ashie-booboo Hell nah, he is a villain. If you read the notes in the Orphanage and the Research Diary in William’s lab, you will know that Subject 628 and 639 are Oliver and Tom. William and his men had been experimenting on presumably hundreds of people like those orphans for quite a while, plus he claimed ownership of G without Umbrella knowing and tried selling it to the military without authorization. Pretty much the only right thing he did in the game is saving Sherry from that Tyrant using his last bit of humanity before being overtaken by G. But overall he is 100% a villain.
@@cerberus3671We also have to remember that he wasn't the best dad, and neither was his wife, they were pretty much workaholics and only had Sherry for status purposes

He probably regretted the decision immediately after.
