When you break a needle, you can mess up your design and machine too! Double Check everything before you start stitching again BUT most people forget to check the thread spool!!
OMG! I literally just broke 7 needles in a row! How embarrassing! And all because the thread was getting stuck on the large spool. Then it happened on a small spool! How AGGRAVATING!!! Thanks so much for explaining this issue because I literally could not figure out what was causing it to happen!
thank you! I would not want to start my machine and realize that I missed a piece and it fell in somewhere! Once every piece is accounted for, I feel confident to start stitching again.
Wow!!! Never thought of sharing information like this, I too stay close and listen out for the noise change when I sew out embroidery, and immediately stop or pause my machine, and it is usually my top thread getting jammed on itself, ie caught on the plastic spool of the thread somewhere. To solve it I have reduced the speed and bought a spool holder which changed the position of my thread when I stitch out. Thank you Sue, really appreciate hearing, learning from you. More importantly that I am not crazy when I speak my truth about machine embroidery issues
both of my machines come with a white disk that you place on top of the thread spool to keep the thread flowing properly. You should not have to slow down your machine at all.
My daughter called and said her needle broke 3 times and I told her to jump on UA-cam check Oml Embroidery I'm sure Sue has better advice than me. I also posted it to FB, that way everyone with these issues can checkout Oml.Thanks again for the great video
I have problems when using specialty thread that spools on the machine horizontally on my machines-- often the edges of the spool are rough, on both ends or really tight tension on the spool when the manufacturer wound it. I have tried netting, felt pads, larger spool caps, silicone thread treatment and it still breaks. So what I end up doing is sit at the machine and hand feed every few feet so that the tension or rough ends do not break the thread. Thankfully I only have to use this type of thread for special orders. I find that using a thread holder behind the machine works the best for proper tension and feed. I wish thread manufacturers would test this at their company before selling.
im a beginner, but this happened to me on my first try. then i was doing okay,, i got a new stabilizer & was finally confident and the needle breaks twice in a row!!! once because the bobbin insert came out and got tangled on the plastic & second i think the thread was wound too tight so it got stuck on the little metal hooks on the top. ); now i have no more needles and im scared to break my machine if this keeps happening so easily.
i have a brother pe 770 and my machine is making the design and everything is fine but onces start getting faster the bobbin makes a noise and it breaks my neddle
i made sure that the part of the plastic on the spool was not going to catch the thread any more - it was a piece of plastic, so i just removed it with scissors and make sure it was smooth. it worked! I have had thread that the base was cracked...tape does not work (ask me how I know) so I throw those ones out.
Can the type of spool have something to do with it? My needle snapped. I had a very thin spool, and I'm not too sure if it was that. Does yours make a weird noise when you start your machine again? I'm honestly terrified about what's going on. This happened on Christmas day when I got it and was testing the embroidery feature.

Excellent advice and info. I especially like “lay the needle out to verify all bits are accounted for”! This is brilliant. Thank you, Sue!

Thanks for sharing!!
I'd love more trouble shooting videos! Machine, thread, needle, anything. Thanks!
awesome! thanks - i will do more!
Agree 100%

I just did a handful of adjustments, moving the spool from its hirzontal position to the spool holder on the top. Thanks for the tip @ingeneren
How did you fix the thread?
Sue, thank you so very much for this valuable helpful information. Linda
😀
I am using thread net, of course I had this situation before. This really helps. Even winding bobbin thread using the thread net is easier.
yep, thread nets do help!

I am in the same situation :( any advice ?
Great trouble shooting, good to know information. THANKS ❣️
😀
This was SOOOO helpful. Thank you so much.

Same
Sue this was very informative. So how did you fix the spool of thread?
i made sure that the part of the plastic on the spool was not going to catch the thread any more - it was a piece of plastic, so i just removed it with scissors and make sure it was smooth. it worked! I have had thread that the base was cracked...tape does not work (ask me how I know) so I throw those ones out.
I stay by my machine too,way to go Sue
😀
Thanks so much for the tips
🙂
Thanks my darling

no, not the type of spool, just how it was coming off the spool and got caught under the spool. once I sorted it out, the machine was fine.
Isn't that thread meant for a horizontal spool holder?
Thanks!!!
😀
I can’t find my broken pieces , worried , where can it go?
it could fly anywhere - just do the best you can to make sure that's its not inside your machine!
Just happened to me this morning :(
It sucks...I was able to save my design this time, but that doesn't always happen!
😊
