Helpful video. When configuring the IP address for the network adapter do you need to already have DHCP setup on the router? Do you have to create a new range of IP addresses beyond what the router already has setup?
Like DNS, it may ask you to set a static IP before installing DHCP tools. If you were testing this at home you may need to disable DHCP on your home router to make sure this one works

Hi, i have router from ISP that act as dhcp "server", now i installed for testing purposes w2k19 with active directory, dns and dhcp, like in your video.. Now i have in network 2dhcp, should i disable the dhcp function in the router, so on the network will be only one w2k19 dhcp server? Will all the devices on my network work with internet access?! Thank for answer.
You can disable the DHCP service on the ISP router. But make sure that you have same network configuration settings as ISP router. I mean DHCP scope range, Default Gateways IP Address etc..
Hey yall, i have a small issue with my vm of Server 2022. I have the same network settings as this video and i have not messed with the vm settings but my VM does not have network access. I tried pinging google, and the ip address itself and it gives host is unreachable. What do I do
First, you need to identify your local network IP address range and configure the IP settings on your VM according to that range. In this video, my local network is 172.18.72.0/24, with the router's IP address being 172.18.72.1.
This is Great, thank you. New subscriber here. I have a question I already followed your tutorial. I installed the Windows Server on Hyper-V and I successfully connected the host PC on to the domain and the internet is working fine. However, when I connected another PC and successfully join to the domain the internet doesn't work. I run some troubleshooting and I notice when I run ipconfig it cannot get the default gate way that's why the internet doesn't work. Hope you can answer this. Thank you!
As you have mentioned that default gateway address is available might be that is the reason. First check the default gateways IP address in DHCP scope option (For the DHCP scope from client is getting IP address). If it is not there (or incorrect), you can specify (or modify) the default gateway's address in DHCP by adding the default gateways IP address in DHCP scope options. In short check the DHCP scope for default gateways IP address.
Hi man. You are sharing a really helpful tutorials. I have a question about configuring DHCP and IPTV box. DHCP service on my WS2019 in working fine but when i connect IPTV it takes an IP address but shows the message that there is no internet connection. In same time the client PC`s in my home network are working fine. So... Is there any additional settings for DHCP server i should make?
It is not necessary to join client to domain for getting an IP address from DHCP server. Any client on your local network (same as DHCP) can get an IP address from your DHCP server.
On the server, I have 2 adapters NAT and Internal Network on client NAT, but in this configuration, it doesn't get configuration from DHCP, but when I add Internal Network to the client, on this adapter configuration is from DHCP
Generally I used Internal Network Adapter type for my VM network adapters. You can also use "Host-only" but with DHCP, you need to disable VirtualBox DHCP service first.
I am encountering many issues with DHCP. Here's my setup: I have a Windows Server 19 vm running on VirtualBox on one host machine I have a Windows 10 Enterprise vm running on VirtualBox on a second host machine. I tried to switch to the same Internal Network for both vms, but they can't ping eachother successfully. Is my issue that these vms need to be running on the same host machine in order to be able to see each other when they're both set to the same internal network? I was able to have them see each other when I had them both set to Bridged Adapter, but this wouldn't allow the server to give the client an IP address. Regardless, thank you for these tutorials, they are very helpful!
1. If both machines network adapter is set with internal, Host-only or Bridge, then can communicate with each other. 2. If you set adapter type to internal this means the VMs can communicate with each other but not with physical machine (Host machine). 3. In your case, if both VMs adapter type is set to Internal and still not able to communicate. A. Check both VMs IP address details, like network address range and subnet mask. B. Check Firewall status on your Server, you can temporary disable the firewall or create a ICMP rule to allow ping. C. If still not working, then send me an email.

1. Restart the DHCP service and try again. 2. Open MMC and add DHCP snap-in to unauthorized the DHCP server. Restart the DHCP service and try again. 3. It may be possible that the metadata of authorized DHCP server was not cleaned up. In that case, open Active Directory Sites and Services. --> At top, Click View and check “Show Services Node” --> Go to Services-NetService and check whether the retired or removed DHCP server is still in the list. If yes then you can manually delete the old dhcp server if it’s not cleaned up. Check again if we can authorize the DHCP server successfully.

The issue with this instructional video is the following: 1. When creating a new Win10 client, you did no specify which Network Adapter type you used in the Virtual Box settings? - I have tried using the "Internal Network" adapter, which doesn't work - I have tried using "Host Only" adapter on the DC client while disabling the Virtual Box DHCP server (and again with Virtual Box DHCP server enabled) - still doesn't work. 2. You mentioned from video 1, that we need to use "Bridged" adapter upon installing Windows Server. But you've mentioned several times on the comment section, that you use "Internal Network" adapter and sometimes "Host Only"? Which one should we use? 3. The IPv4 settings on your WIN10 are somehow already assigned static IP? When did you perform this step? If watching the videoes in the order of the Playlist, I don't see anywhere where it has been done.
After awhile, I simply changed the Network Type to "Bridge" on my Windows 10 client. And then dded it to the domain "mylab.local" and later had it assigned automatically a DNS from the server. Now I can see it from the "Leased" section on my DHCP client. Still, this "process" wasn't in your instructional video.
On your computer open command prompt and type ipconfig /all command, hit enter key. In the output find "default gateway's" address which is your routers LAN interface address.
