This Mistake Will Destroy Your Barrel.. | Duck Hunting 2023

- With the biggest front of the 2023 duck hunting season forecasted to roll through the Dakotas, it was time to pack up the truck and head west to try and chase the migration. I met up with some buddies from Virginia and since we didn't have time to scout, we decided to hunt a public land slough that I had seen birds using heavily the year prior. The morning kicked off with hundreds of birds working our decoys and once things settled down a bit though we were able to pick off a mixed bag before making a late move to get on the X. Hope you enjoy!

Awesome hunt you guys were knocking them down…. @4:40 raining birds falling from the sky. Keep up the great adventures.
Thanks brother! I appreciate you watching!
In NC people will fight over 100 gadwalls. In ND people will laugh at you for hunting 2,000 gadwalls.
Blue plates + a kayak hanging out the back is a criminal combo over there
I can generally see 4-5 guys when I’m hunting let alone the 10-15 more within a couple miles here in MN. Talk to the Warden about what he checks and most days guys barely get a teal if they don’t shoot a coot for fun. It is not uncommon to have someone within 400 yards sometimes on the same shore of the lake.
You’re making great videos! I’ve noticed the dot on your ShotKam doesn’t point where your barrel points. If you have any type of pen laser, laser bore sight, even a small flashlight you can shine it down the barrel and align the reticle on your ShotKam to it. I align mine with a Wheeler laser bore sight t 80-100 yards. You can diagnose your misses a lot easier if the reticle is true to the bore.
Yeah I had mine a little high for the first part of the season but just got it fixed the other day! Like you said, it definitely helps to figure out where you’re missing when you have it probably aligned
You never know where those Minor boys will show up, it has been fun watching them grow up! Thomas I like how you do this channel!
I appreciate it! Getting to hunt with the Minor boys is always a blast!
I love the kayak hunting more of that 👍👍
Used the kayak a lot out in ND!
Wow just found the channel and clicked on it to see some other videos and this one just was posted! Dude your videos are awesome!
Much appreciated!
Can you provide your hunting setup? Gun, shot size, barrel and choke? Any tips on point of aim and leads would greatly help. You guys are shooting so well. Sometimes I think I can’t hit the broad side of a barn. A video discussion about leads and tips for shooting would be great. The trip looks like an awesome experience. New sub. Thank you
Amazing Hunt fellas. Keep them coming!
Thanks Wesley! Got another ND hunt coming out tomorrow!
Love the mixed bag hunts.
Thanks brother! They're always my favorite too, nothing beats getting a nice variety of good eating birds!
A great mixed bag! Hope to see you back east later this season.
Thanks Bruce! Planning to head back to the east coast around Christmas time!
Great hunt man! Unfortunately we didn't get any new birds with thar big front here in SE NC in fact what little we had seemed to have pushed out but hopefully soon the flood gates will open. Hoping they are just running late this season or short stopped on us. Seen that video of your last hunt last season when yall came down to nc for the last couple days. That was fire good mixed bag
Thanks brother! I bet there will be a push down there before too long, especially if the great lakes region gets some weather soon. Hope you had a good time if you were able to get out this weekend!
Love the videos man keep up this work this satisfies my day I wish I can go duck hunting like this but down here in the south of Louisiana you know we don’t have many ducks but keep up the good work loving the vids man !
Thanks brother, I appreciate you watching! Have you seen much of a migration down there yet this year?
Where you at, we hunting good in south Louisiana.
Are you still using a light modified choke? And is it a Carlsons choke?
Never know where those Minor boys are going to pop up!
If you let them know there's ducks around there a good chance they'll show up!
@@HokeOutdoors No doubt! Or anything to shoot or catch for that matter
❤❤❤
Do you have any call recommendations
Are you shooting migras? I had a squib load happen to me the other week. I noticed the crimping on the shells is terrible so you CANNOT get them wet at all.
Yep that was a migra load, it was an old one that I had mixed in with some Kents and like you said must've got wet. Been shooting them for a while and this was the first issue I've had
Starting to wonder if this is an issue with migra. I had a migra blow my tristar viper up. i thought it may have been the shotgun but seeing this video and now seeing there are others with the similar issue I have my suspicions it may be the round.
I had the same problem last year with Migra. I had to toss a whole box that had spent a couple of days in a bag that had a small amount of moisture in it. The first shot was a squib, and the second was too. Really hurt my throwing the whole box out.
Your all Very Lucky no one was hurt, from a blown up gun. Cheap shells are really cheap in the long run.
Were you guys stYing in Minot? Feel like I may have met you there.
Nah we were further east a good bit
What’s the point of laser? Do you see that shooting? Just on a video? Great video
Thanks Jim! The red dot is just a reticle in the camera to show you where you were aiming when you watch the footage. It’s not visible in the field
Hahah I’m so sorry but I feel like someone had to say something about aggressively peeping Tom to get that one bird.😂
Haha gotta mix things up once in a while when the typical stuff isn't working!
Heck yeah. IDK where its from but I like the saying "If its stupid and it works. Its not stupid." Appreciate you making all these vids, especially in MN.@@HokeOutdoors
i've had the thing happen with the same brand of shells. That particular brand hates the water or any moisture.
Damn that's a shame to hear, I really liked how they patterned so I picked up a case of them last year. I'd almost shot the whole thing and hadn't had any issues except on this hunt
Easy fix, crimp sealants and ur
Good
Tell me you didn’t say bullet’s ! Lol
Lol yep! Bullets is way more fun to say than shells!
Where’s the dogs?
Wheres your dog Thomas??
I brought Leroy on this trip, he was the dog in that pheasant clip towards the end. He’s not quite ready for waterfowl though and I didn’t have room to bring Rue or Bonnie unfortunately
Well your young enough to retrieve your birds but I sure love watching Rue and Bonnie do their magic!!
I do too! It was a real bummer to not have a dog on these hunts but I really wanted to run Leroy on some pheasants so that was the tradeoff unfortunately
So why aren’t you hunting with your dog ?
I took Leroy on this trip and he went pheasant hunting with us a few times. I decided to hold off on the waterfowl side of things since I had a feeling these hunts would be a little hectic and I want a more controlled situation for his first hunt
A dog would be a good idea
Got a pup that I'm training right now
Shootin ducks on the water? Really?
Yeah I shoot my deer only on the dead run, turkeys only flying away from me and ducks only at over 40 yards and only crossing shots. I’m the REAL sportsman. 🤣
The same type of guy that shoots doves on power lines and sleeping deer
Another wanker who probably cant provide an argument as to why its unethical :D
Hmmm I wonder why they make floating decoys. I mean shooting waterfowl on water with floating decoys seems kind of a natural progression
I don’t get people who have a problem with that. You’re such a bum. Would you rather have these dudes sky busting birds? Get a life and learn to hunt.
Was that a migra load?? They’re bad about that.
