- WERE LIVERPOOL CHEATED IN 1965 EUROPEAN CUP SEMI-FINAL
The history books and Liverpool FC have always claimed that Liverpool were cheated in the 2nd leg of their European cup semi-final with Inter Milan in 1965. Liverpool had beaten Inter 3-1 in the 1st leg at Anfield. Inter won the 2nd leg 3-0 and reached the European cup final. However the history books and Liverpool FC claim that Inters first 2 goals in the 2nd leg should not have been allowed. For the first goal which Inter scored direct from a free kick, it was claimed that the referee clearly indicated a direct free kick, by holding his arm above his head until the free kick was taken. This video clearly shows that these claims are false. The referee at no point indicated an indirect free kick. At no point did he hold his arm above his head, so this was clearly a legitimate goal. For the 2nd goal it was claimed that Liverpool goalkeeper Tommy Lawrence was holding the ball in his hands and the ball was kicked out of his hands. Once again this video proves these claims to be false. The ball was not kicked out of the goalkeepers hands at all, the ball was clearly on the ground when the Inter forward made contact with the ball, so this was also a legitimate goal. The full 90 minutes of this match is available on DVD from Old Football DVDS. For more details visit the website - www.oldfootballdvds.weebly.com
The referee telling to Jimmy McInnes "Liverpool will never win this match, this match has been fixed" and then Jimmy McInnes committing suicide by hanging himself, and the fact that years later it was proven that the same referee had committed match-fixing. Why don't you ever mention these?
From what I've now read. Shankly even said to the press afterwards that he had found somebody who claimed that they had seen the money actually being handed over to the referee before the game...
Its interesting to note, a few months later the referee was convicted of fraud, tax evasion!!😕😂👍👍❤💖
His name was ortiz de mendibil.. And the story that later came out was that de mendibil had a very sick child who needed expenses treatment, and it was inter who picked up the bill.
Inter’s secretary at the time was Italo Allodi, notorious for match fixing. Allodi had committed other fowl play against Derby County when working for Juventus.
I've seen 1st leg of this tie, Liverpool's 3rd potential offside goal was never offside the game ended 3-1 to Liverpool, but watching this 2nd leg in Italy, god that's some shocking decisions from Spanish referee here.
It was offside by the rules at the time. I'm a Liverpool fan as well but he was ahead of the last defender and that is all that mattered at the time. As for this goal... Should have been a Liverpool throw in 💯 but taking it off the keeper was fine as it wasn't in his hands.
That ref's insistent on the ten yards. He'd have loved the spray.
The referee never handled another European game after this one. Look at the 10 yards for the first goal . Its more like 20 yards. The second goal would never be allowed at any time. Tommy Smith said when the game was over he kicked the referee up the arse and he just kept running . He was bribed 100%
Cheated? Why? 11 artists and 11 runners...

brian gladville mentioned that in an interview about the cheating that was going on in italian football at that time in a documentary for LFCTV in 2008
Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those goals, apart from the ref having a fairly liberal view of what constitutes 10 yards.
bullshit....the referee was suspected and then later proved that he had been got at
Nothing wrong with the second goal apart from the ridiculous throw in decision that led to it.
Both he and his brother , had the same situation one year apart in European cup semi final , that robbed both of finals
Ia nota Liverpoola fana buta thata Wasa fixa bya Thea refereea
Tavy@ it was a goal. The keeper was putting the ball in play and out his hands by bouncing it onto the grass and right onto the big mans foot. A mean WTF. OF COURSE ITS A GOAL WHY cant people see that? They do c it. There just chancers. They knew that was a goal. Well i wouldnt throw a ball to a player lol thats insane. Plus why did the officials give the goal? Becouse it was a goal
Almost ten years ago in 2013 Samuel Etoo in his only season at Chelsea nicked the ball from the WBA keeper in exactly the same manner and there was crying to high heavens that it was a foul because while the keeper is bouncing the ball, it is still in his possession...
Yeah
AHAHAHA
Not at all
And inter fans hammer Juventus for being involved in matchfixing the hypocrisy is so bad.
