But when Purna and Logan leave the island, the realize the whole world is infected. And the story ends.

Damn this ending pissed me off really was hoping one of the characters survived. Favorite two are Sam b and Logan, it would've been cool to have a small Easter egg like you see them in dead Island 2 (when/if it comes out in 2025😂😑😠
For those among us who are too ignorant to pay attention to the subtle and brilliant story telling of this game the ending goes as such. The immune playable characters were not simply untouched by the disease, as kessler hinted at their blood contained excessive amounts of stalled mutated virus within it, giving them the ability to do the fury mode. This means that after the ending where they expose themselves to an unknown mutagen compound such as what Harlow did in the final fight, the amount of virus within them would have completely unknown side effects and cause even those who were thought immune to undergo mutations. The ending is setting up the scenario that was seen in the preview for Dead Island 2 where a major city had been stricken with the disease. To put it simply, the survivors were already completely fucked by the time they had even gotten on the boat, and when they washed up on the distant shore, they had been mutating for over 6 days into probably some of the most disgusting and deadly forms of mutation ever in the games lore.
Ethan Lott I would not be so certain of that, as the games ending is very indicative of either a closed causal time loop or the main guy being somewhat insane. Also I would not consider this game canon as the way Xian acts in it is completely contradicting to her character, as in threatening to blow up an island.
Honestly I would really like to find more out about all of them come Dead Island 2. That is if they are actually some kind of key component to the game. Either way we didn't get as much information about them as I would have liked.
This ending was a clear use of 'Cliff Hanger' They will do one of two options. 1. They continue the serious with some form we will see later. or 2. They end it there for your imagination to finish the rest on what you think happened.

What i say is this if one of them was infected and attacked one another then there would be more blood and zombies can't turn handles on doors. But lets say i am wrong and they did become zombies then the first indication is when Purna said " ah a little headache " would alarm people and since they took a mutagen or mutating thing could cuase more serious more dangerous zombies than any other known also when Serpo said that they could not handle the mutagen could be a determinig factor.
my guess is that the virus mutated after taking the mutagen. they were no longer immune and one night in those six days, they kind of knew that harlow and serpo were right. which i think sets us off with new characters in Dead Island 2.
I loved it when Xian said "Fuck off,Serpo!" But Serpo was right about one thing: "I see you took the mutagen, you can't control it, and you can't stop it" Serpo was only trying to help. They took them to the lab and drugged them first, because the native girl was infected, and she infected the whole ship. After that, We meet Serpo again, when his helicopter crashes. Well, poor man.Another time, when he comes at the cinema roof, Sam Hardy had to respect Serpo's orders:"First the immune". He said that because he wanted to check if the immune were infected. Then he would've take all of them. Everyone refused, so that is why his helicopter goes down again. After that,Harlow makes a theory... Kinda.And i have a feeling she was right about the island,and everything else.Also,Xian used to be calm and smart. Now all i see in her is anger. Because she took the mutagen that made Harlow crazy. P. S Who the fuck gave Harlow a chainsaw?! And how crazy are you to take the thing that transformed your friend into a monster with chainsaw?! Xian controlled it so far because she was immune, and the price of being strong enough to beat Harlow was Xian's immunity
I really like this ending. I guess it's because I didn't really predict it. The whole bit about them possibly becoming intellectual infected is quite possible but I think the fact that there was no one steering and it was just drifting into the pier shows that the four, who again most likely turned into infected just more intelligent, are now out to kill humans. A little darker, but i'd say a bit more unpredictable. I like it.

I would've gone back to save those survivors at the Makeshift Hospital and Old Town Cinema. I would've also reenforce the baracades to protect them from the zombies.
The lady at the cinema insists on staying because she owns the building, so even though offered she instead stays to die. But the other people in the hospital they definitely should've asked them to come.

The developers can do what they want with this ending. It's just a generic cliffhanger. I simply hope they make another one and that it's a full on sequel with more fleshing out of the main mechanics :) I like the franchise.

Saddest ending. The people that gave us missions were not rescued by us and killed by zombies. The ending proves a sequel but Dead island 2 didn’t come out even though the trailer is there.
Purna was infected she said "I've got a little headache but otherwise I'm perfectly fine" and since the all were not immune since they took mutagen they became zombies might I add more intelligent zombies because they could open the hatch

I don't get why people are saying that 'they opened the door/latch... It looked like a handle, not a latch. If you were on the exterior of the boat, you'd put your hand under the latch and pull up to reveal the interior. I don't think it was supposed to be broken. Also, I think the growling you hear MAY be part of the song, I'm not sure though.
I thought Dead Islands story was better in my opinion. But the new things they brought to the table weren't bad. It could've been a larger area of map. With an area of strict swap, beach, forest(like area), and hotel area. Ammo was more plentiful this game. Ummmm the next game should be a lot larger,longer,bit less concerned about why it was happening(it confused me with the back story of the virus). ,

This is gonna make a lot of questions since the riptide ending tells the players that the protags virus in their bodies are mutated and they should turn into full on zombies judging by how the riptide ending played. It would be cool if they succumbed to the virus, then they could make Dead Island 3, instead of you killing off Zombies, the main cast works together to slowly kill/infect the island's inhabitants. Since the the main cast is the only batch of immune to turn into zombies, it could pave the way for an intelligent zombie lord kinda thing. You could control walkers you've infected, still be able to use weapons, talk to the other immune-infected for quests etc.
No, if you talked to her on the Cinema Roof, she said she could not leave her Cinema, and she wanted you to bring her Keepsake Photos to Honor. As for the guy, it is Cecil and his Hospital. The place where few of the survivors who you save in the town, say they are going to go. This part of the cutscene always plays even if you complete Cecil's quests if i'm not wrong.

I would've gone back to save those survivors at the Makeshift Hospital and Old Town Cinema. I would've also reenforce the baracades to protect them from the zombies.

The lady at the cinema insists on staying because she owns the building, so even though offered she instead stays to die. But the other people in the hospital they definitely should've asked them to come.

@@mffuniverse3806 according to some people it was apparently explained in the comics and somehow that drug overdose game escape dead island both of them take place 6 months after and the 4 from the original survive and are on another infected island sam b and xian mei team up but logan and purna want to escape so they spilt up and logan and purna escape while Sam b and xian mei fight off the infected island but its overrun with them then it just randomly ends there dunno what happend with John either apparently he was on dead island survivors so must of survived with Sam b and xian mei cause they were on it too dunno how it ties in to Los Angeles at all but yeah maybe purna and logan went there and got infected

they found out that somebody is infected so they have to put them there and they reached their destination so they left the boat and the boat moves away to the lady`s house and starts the outbreak and it was completely their fault for not listening to harlow ( XD )

If they became zombies they should have killed some if they killed some there should be blood all over the boat (Jesus crist its Bloody as Hell)
They probally not first secured the boat before they boarded it like when you are changing bases you have to clear zombies add some defences and Shoot the hell out of the zombies while using the mounted machine gun or anything but thats not the base. its a boat its really stupid if they didnt secure it
at the 2nd clue we think that harlow goes there first BUT frank said they caugth her doing something at the boat so harlow can leave it probally means she secured it but without saying it to the player/Hero (you know. you. the player..) that theres zombies there and thats one of the reasons that she dont wanna get out of the island (the main reason is that she doesnt want to let the virus spread to other islands)

The developers can do what they want with this ending. It's just a generic cliffhanger. I simply hope they make another one and that it's a full on sequel with more fleshing out of the main mechanics :) I like the franchise.

Sam is alive, Logan is confirmed to be alive and Purna most likely bit the other people, yet went back to normal

Saddest ending. The people that gave us missions were not rescued by us and killed by zombies. The ending proves a sequel but Dead island 2 didn’t come out even though the trailer is there.

I don't get why people are saying that 'they opened the door/latch... It looked like a handle, not a latch. If you were on the exterior of the boat, you'd put your hand under the latch and pull up to reveal the interior. I don't think it was supposed to be broken. Also, I think the growling you hear MAY be part of the song, I'm not sure though.
I thought Dead Islands story was better in my opinion. But the new things they brought to the table weren't bad. It could've been a larger area of map. With an area of strict swap, beach, forest(like area), and hotel area. Ammo was more plentiful this game. Ummmm the next game should be a lot larger,longer,bit less concerned about why it was happening(it confused me with the back story of the virus). ,

Just watch the newest dead island 2 trailer and somehow Sam B is in that trailer. This is gonna make a lot of questions since the riptide ending tells the players that the protags virus in their bodies are mutated and they should turn into full on zombies judging by how the riptide ending played. But somehow sam B survives the mutation and was seen on the newest trailer of DI2.

It would be cool if they succumbed to the virus, then they could make Dead Island 3, instead of you killing off Zombies, the main cast works together to slowly kill/infect the island's inhabitants. Since the the main cast is the only batch of immune to turn into zombies, it could pave the way for an intelligent zombie lord kinda thing. You could control walkers you've infected, still be able to use weapons, talk to the other immune-infected for quests etc.

Nearly 10 yrs still no dead island 2 the game was alright imo but it do has potential
No, if you talked to her on the Cinema Roof, she said she could not leave her Cinema, and she wanted you to bring her Keepsake Photos to Honor. As for the guy, it is Cecil and his Hospital. The place where few of the survivors who you save in the town, say they are going to go. This part of the cutscene always plays even if you complete Cecil's quests if i'm not wrong.
Oh yeah and the main characters are probably not zombies but still infected and basically mutants.
