I really think deer are getting smarter and smarter by the year. Always looking up. The last 2 deer I killed was off the ground sitting next to my mobile tree stand that I didn’t want to set up cause it super hard and frustrating. Nothing is worse then setting up a stand in the dark only to find out there’s a dead limb above u on a windy day that will take u out if it comes down! I respect u guys that do this mobile hunting all the time. I’ll never give up. Love being in the woods even if I see nothing. Love it
Very informative Sean - thanks! I'll consider that for my Dragon after I get more proficient. Right now I think my large groups are more user error than hardware related. :-) You mentioned drop-away rests as being your preferred type. I wonder if you might discuss that for us sometime, weighing the cost and complexity vs. the advantages of drop-away. If you did that already, I will search for the video.
Wow you got a lot of nice bucks mounted. I gotta rethink my stabilizers. I have a mushroom tip dampener from the early 2000s that is starting to ooze liquid lol! My newest bow is a 2003 Hoyt. Bows are like technology and video games. Every year the earlier ones are outdated. Hard to keep up.
Great video. I shoot a pretty heavy bow as it is, and I've been going through the same thought process. (do I really need a stabilizer in the elk woods?) This gives me some more data to pull from. I'll have to try a similar test with my own setup.
So I just got into this & have the little stubby 6 inch that came with my bow. I can't tell a difference with or without it & I had also tried a Trophy Ridge 12 inch & I swear I'm shooting far better with no stabilizer. Is that a thing or am I doing something wrong? I feel like the lighter my bow is the better I'm shooting, I had only used it up to 40 yards though but within that range with the stabilizer I was going off the target without any stabilizer I was hitting the bullseye. Cheers for the videos man
Hey Sean what stabilizer would you recommend for an Oneida recurve compound bow? I was planning on buying one this year but my dog hurt his led the it cost over $3,000 🤦🏻♂️ that was going to be my hunting gear lol The Lord knows what we need 😁
Hello Sean, im about to get s.x8 within this week, i will take the 60lbs x8 because that only they left in stock here, i can say that I'm a intermediate archers but not knowing much about compound technical, may i know for 60lbs x8 do it get roughly around 290-300fps (If all the arrow grain etc. Are match) ?
No, you won't get that speed at 60 lbs I don't think. I think one of my original videos on the X8 had speeds at different weight and draw length if you want to go look at that..
It’s frustrating! The more money I make, better equipment and clothing I get, and more knowledge I obtain the less success I have. Hunting is getting harder and harder every year it seems. I remember in 1998 I started bow hunting with a 1980s McPherson bow with aluminum arrows. One pin at 20 yards that worked for shorter distances just as well. Killed bucks every year. I use to pick my spots by cool looking environment changes with no concern for access and wind direction. The trees determined what way my stand was facing. The excitement was not knowing what would show up. No cameras, no targeting a specific deer. It was the best hunting in Michigan. 1998 u had the woods to yourself during bow. Now bow hunting is busier then gun in Michigan. Haven’t shot a deer with a bow in 8 years. Always get a doe or small buck with gun but have to work for it on public

That certainly would be a major concern and reason for moving locations

Okay I'll keep it in mind for a video and see if I can do something on it

Thanks. It sounds like you might benefit with an upgrade. The Dragon x8 is a pretty economical way to go.
Nice review of stabilizers. You covered alot. I shoot wt my quiver on to. So I run a side bar . Wt a front bar. Trophy ridge hitman series.
Thanks!

Hey Sean I got a side bar bee stinger on my Mathews and I like to get a quick disconnect on it and can’t find the right one?
Look on bee stinger's website.
Do you think the dovetail mount is necessary for the bee stingier microhex counterslide?
Yes

I'd say shoot the way that enables you to shoot best

Lol sorry to hear about your dog. I would get something that also had some side weight if it were me, but that is just my personal preference.
@@seansoutdoors thanks.

8:48 your arm is on the stabilizer.
Will that throw your aim off?
Never caused a problem for me

Yes, that is frustrating for sure.
