This man has helped insire a generation of Namibians by showing us that it is possible to reach the top of the sport even though we a such a small rugby country.
I was lucky to meet Jacque at Sarries a few times . A fabulous player and very decent man Popular with the players and loved by the fans. He is missed but we all wish him well on his farm back in Namibia
There have been plenty with greater bulk behind their tackling but kilo for kilo? I’d say Berger was the best. 50% great technique; 50% just sheer courage. All thoughts about the tackle; zero thought about personal safety.
My man woke up one day and decided he wasn't going backwards anymore. Met him once as s kid at a sarries tournament for youth teams. Chill bloke. World class in his day.

That clean out on Bakkies was divine justice.
Yeah I loved Bakkies as a player but if anyone ever deserved that clean out it was him 😂
Multiple times you can hear Farrell shouting 'hit'em Jaques' on a kick chase
1:39 "HIT HIM JACQUES, HIT HIM JACQUES, YES!!" 😂
@@schnozz87 and then the ref penalized him 😁
Like he needed the encouragement
Every tackle was a full arm wrap. Might have been a strong tackle but fair every time
I feel like there aren’t many players like him anymore that are genuinely terrifying

@@tiegomokhele6247none of them other than maybe Wiese & Eben have the same Aura though… Montoya ?!?😂
Sam Underhill to me exemplifies heavy hits with ideal tackling technique today.
Peter Steph Du Toit comes to mind

Jerry Collins, Henry Tuilagi Brad Barrett maybe . I don't think there us anyone in today's game like Jacque Burger
my back hurts from that clean out on Bakkies
Een van die grootstes van Namibiese Rugby, 'n YSTER !!
And clean
Just technically perfect
Never knew a brick wall could run.
I’ve watched him from a kid what a BEAST 🦁

Wrap around and drop; some clean, well timed and safe tackling.
This is a Giant amongst men, God bless him
Brutal & legal, so beautiful to see him tackle
I own the shirt at 1:02. It was also worn by Kelly Brown and Will Fraser that season.
Would not want to play him 😂
I think that man loves to tackle even more than most of us
Jacques... What did Ken Pisi ever do to you?
“Murder?!” Back it off a few notches, Captain Hype.
"It's not a problem when you see Jacques Burger coming. It's a problem when you don't!"
One of the best Saracens players ever!
日本人も彼が好きです❤️
Bakkies Botha subscribed to burger
Andrew forced upload? Heck ye im watching
Good god!!
Sam Under Hill on top ------>
Jacques Burger, il était saignant (as we say here)
Great tackler but Joe Worsley was better. More technical whilst Burger would put in the showreel big hits.
Sometimes you just want to see some heads bang against the floor when watching rugby
Tackling people like they owed him money.
Nah Brian Lima is better and brutal
Seen better, sry to say. He is good in an Avg team but will not make it in the BiG leagues..
He played at the top for a long time you belter
