It is such a great part of this Songs at 3:15. 3 minutes and 15 seconds into the song. I finally hear and get what you mean through the Music. They have a really Good Overall Sounds. Matt Skiba Singing, I love the Guitars on the Entire Crimson Album. I used to listen to my brother's Alkaline Trio Compact Disc CD in a CD Player probably in the mid to late 90's. I love this Song So Deep. I would plug in headphones/Headset right into my CD Player and listen from the beginning Starting on Time to Waste. Crimson. It is a great CD and album some of their best Music was on CD 💿 at the Time. Sadie is a Classic Alkaline Trio Song for me. I think this song was from 2005 or a different year earlier on 2003 maybe.

Yeah, it's obvious the writer knows the story backwards and foward. He takes it to a philosophic, poetic, and melodic level. And the details, both direct and simple: bloody clothes, knives, Charlie's broken .22; and complex, almost apologetic and mysterious: "for all they've put you through." ???? Sharon Tate or Susan Atkins? The. third person commentary for the chorus: "Sadie Mae, she's crazy, that's what the white coats say." Let's play real life doppelganger. Manson: any real life criminal turned preacher. Atkins: John Wilkes Booth, Sid Viscious. Watson: Jason, Michael Myers

You're on your own my little nightmare you cannot stay here
It's far too bright for you
If they attack you just lay there,
Play dead dear, it's your only hope of pulling through.
And seconds they seem like a lifetime.
A dream, recurring, a dream that can't come true.
And they'll pin it all on you
After all you've been put through.
    "Sadie G. she's crazy, see?"
That's what the white coats say.
Now Ms. Susan A. is losing
Every opportunity to put us all away.
You're on your own my little nightmare.
    Your job is done here.
You've scared them all to death.
If they revive them just sit there.
Just smile dear. Make them thankful for every breath.
The sentence may seem like a lifetime, a scream, that curdling the blood they found on you.
And your knives and clothing too.
    Charlie's broken .22
    "Sadie G. she's crazy, see?"
That's what the white coats say.
Now Ms. Susan A. You're losing,
    Every opportunity.
Well they found you and they shipped you up the river the same way that you've bound and gaged.
    You've shot and stab.
You tried to set them free, but they've thrown away the keys.
"I think that if I found a god to me that was so beautiful that I'd do anything for him.
    I'd do anything for god.
Even murder, if I believed it was god, how could it not be right?
    Because he said it was.
I have no remorse for the killer inside of me, I have no guilt in me"

That line is deep. Once you learn the details you're still trying to get at the "truth." The song writer gets into the zeitgist of it all. Their actions are all that matters. Alkaline Trio are good and direct with the implanted Sadie philosophy. What she really had in common with Manson was a desire for the apocalypse. Turns out she grew up right down the street from me. Two generations prior.

For those who wanted to know the history of this song: Susan Denise Atkins (May 7, 1948 - September 24, 2009) was an American convicted murderer who was a member of Charles Manson's "Family". Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in California, over a period of five weeks in the summer of 1969. Known within the Manson family as Sadie Mae Glutz or Sexy Sadie, Atkins was convicted for her participation in eight of these killings, including the most notorious, the Tate murders in 1969. She was sentenced to death, which was subsequently commuted to life imprisonment when the California Supreme Court invalidated all death sentences issued prior to 1972. Atkins was incarcerated until her death in 2009. At the time of her death, she was California's longest-serving female inmate,[1] long since surpassed by her fellow murderous Manson family members Leslie Van Houten and Patricia Krenwinkel.

Neat! I always wondered why they mentioned Lake Michigan in one of their songs. I find that awesome, since I live like 45 minutes away from Laks Michigan. I think their location may also contribute to the darkness of their music, similar to The Birthday Massacre. The great lakes region is woodsy and mysterious, especially in the winter, with all the swamps and deciduous forests around. It likely provides an eerie inspiration that bands from California just don't experience.

I've been diagnosed with it. I just know I am not mentally there, just because a doctor tells me that, I don't know if i believe it or not. I do have anger issues, but learned to try to control them. I think it's just another reason for doctors to dope you up. I am who I am, I am not that anymore. Even if a doctor claims me to be that. I think we all have a little mental problems, but don't accept it. So believe what you want, I am not making any excuses for what i do anymore.

Susan Atkins from the Manson family best known as Sadie. Tho she was at fault with murder, she was also brainwashed by Charles Manson.

Well, she was a little more than "at fault." She stabbed, she smothered, she went when called upon to kill at least three times. I think she was most honest when bragging, right after the murders, when she was sure revolution was imminent. Did she deliver the killing blow? Does that matter so much? Brainwashed? In 1969 there were about 20 million hippies in America. Maybe 15 of them were psychotic killers. Saidie Mae G. was one of them.

"The little Nightmare" held down Sharon Tate, stabbed her many times, what I don't get is how Sharon Tate and Tex Watson hung her and Jay Sebring from that rafter. Yeah they found rope burns on their wrists and neck. I think the "defendants" left out some details about what happened. Like torture..Another true fact: Some guy was driving from his girlfriend's house in the Hollywood Hills that night and saw them in their beat up green pukemobile, radio blaring, the whole murder crew laughing and yelling. Mission accomplished, right gang? The song "Sadie" in my mind captures the visceral experience of the actual act, the madness of this very pretty girl and her cohorts. Art meets reality, art feeds off this macabre event. From a safe distance of course. But this songwriter gets at the bloody heart of the situation. Frankenstein's monster (Watson) leads the black widow (Atkins) on orders from Rasputin (Manson). But Alkaline Trio hints, in my opinion, that these, uh, people didn't need Manson to do what they did. They needed someone to point the way. In the words of another song: "we were all just waiting for this moment to arrive."

To further expound, the church of satan doesn't actually worship satan. It's a political activist group that advocates the separation of church and state by creating the most antithetical juxtaposition to Christianity as possible. "Christians want this cross in the town square? Then let us have our statue of Baphomet!" It is meant to be flagrant and upsetting because to people who aren't Christian having the religion thrust into public places or policies is also flagrant and upsetting.

The lyrics in my opinion are kind of mediocre and don't really live up to the amazing instrumentals. I just LOVE the part from 3:39 all the way to the end of the track. It's frankly one of the most beautiful compositions in modern music I've ever heard. Reminds me of the leaves changing in the autumn and people's lives changing with the season.
