Oh the Hermes Birkin, one of the most legendary purses/bags to ever exist. They are very expensive…I’m not sure if you know that but I do. So for a while Hermes used box leather for their Birkins so that’s what we did too. If you are a purse lover you may notice a lot of this design is based off the Saint Laurent Sac De Jour! Leather Michael and I thought that was a nice looking bag so we hopped on the Sac De Jour train. Other than that, I really have no interest in purses so maybe subconsciously that’s why I made a giant bag for Taylor instead of a regular sized bag…tbh I meant it to be way smaller.
Anyways fun fact of the day:
"A Birkin from the Himalaya series crafted from Nile crocodile hide, and carefully dyed to resemble the snow-capped Himalayas. with 18-karat white gold and diamond hardware-was sold for $379,261 in auction at Christie’s."
Second fun fact:
Hermes bags often use palladium hardware which is the most expensive metal on Earth...most commonly found in catalytic converters!

As a bag maker myself, I can confirm leather Michael really put in the work on this one. It is all handstitched which is legit 2 days work and your hands hurt after, he has added piping which is a small PITA, and he has handpainted the edges which is another PITA and can drive you nuts (hence why he probably spilled the ink), it is all fully lined and pocketed which adds another day easily, and those are real loxx fasteners made in germany (because there are a lot of knock offs around). And yeah this bag will probably last a lifetime and a half and age very gracefully. Enjoy. I hope he charged at least $1k for it.

@@TheIronSnail I know you just bought a 40s USN Peacoat, but seeing how much you love your LL Bean Bomber, have you considered an original USN G-1 jacket on which the LLBean Bomber is based on? They're all over eBay at reasonable prices in many sizes.
I actually have! The only thing is i like jackets with full body insulation and it looked like most G1’s are just a mouton collar with no insulated lining!

I’m French and I didn’t have a clue what he was trying to say but now you put it on google translate, I get what he was trying to say in English but it doesn’t really make sense in French. You can’t translate word for words in a lot of cases because it won’t translate correctly in the other language for instance although baise translate to f**k, it’s more suited for a s*xual act rather than s*rew the socialite so it doesn’t make sense here. Cute bag though.
